Best option for a large tail bag?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,
I don't have my FJ-09 yet but am already looking at luggage. I'm looking for something non-permanent; it will be used probably 5-10 times a year and am not really interested in the side luggage/top case option for many reasons so I was looking at large tail bags (>45 liters). Any advice on a good one for the FJ-09?
I was thinking in this one: http://shop.sw-motech.com/en/4052572000403.htm but am not sure it would fit well. It goes for ~150€.

Although it's primarily for my KTM 690, I'll probably use this on the FJ-09 too:

Might be more room & cost than you want. The video on the page describes it really well.

I purchased a Soft Tail Bag by Nelson-Rigg and really love it. When I go around buying parts or just stuff in general I'm able to put it all int he bag and then just disconnect it from the bike and carry everything inside. I put the link from Yamaha but do yourself a favor and shop around unlike me; I've found this exact bag from other online retailers and they were about 30-40 bucks cheaper

thanks.
Looking at their website, I also found this one which is pretty cheap: $88 at Amazon, 56 liters capacity

I like the fact that you can strap it to the seat itself

what I don't like is that I can't find a retailer in France :-( UK & Germany only for Europe apparently

I tried attaching mine to the seat but it didn't work out so well as I was having a hard time getting the back part of the seat to hook into place; I also didn't have time to fiddle around with it so it may or may not work.

I see that revzilla and motorcycle super store sell that bag you like online, I think they ship to France?

I like the way RKA tail bags attach to the passenger seat (see 'the pad'), but their bags are not that big. Easy to find if you search "RKA luggage".

That SW Motech looks great. I may need to pick one up if my city bag mounts don't arrive before our trip. Is the SW Motech quick release from the bike?
