Posted April 18, 20178 yr i'm just wondering if anyone knows if the gearing i different between them at 65 i'm around 4500 at 80 i'm at 5500rpm i see all the fzs doing easy power wheelies i decided to try and can barely get the front wheel to come off the ground in 1st
April 18, 20178 yr I'm assuming this is with the TCS turned off? Mine comes up easily in 1st when hard on the throttle and especially when actually trying to wheelie, even in standard mode.
April 18, 20178 yr Community Expert Im not sure about transmission gear ratios between the 2 bikes. I changed the stock countershaft sprocket (16T) to a 15T, and like it much better. It still pulls forever in each gear, it just revs up a little quicker. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
April 18, 20178 yr A mode with TCS off.. front wheel comes up easily in 1st under hard acceleration. Probable would in 2nd if you were someone that's good at wheelies. '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... Fayetteville, GA, USA
April 18, 20178 yr looks the same i owned both . i thought it felt different , must be the weight diff . but at only 500 miles , the fj will lift the front . without much problem .at 250lb rider , and now the ecm if off to 2 wheel dyno http://sprocketcenter.com/street-sprocket-applications/yamaha/fj-09-2015-2016.html
April 19, 20178 yr Turn TCS off. STD MODE. 1st gear 7000rpm. Snap throttle 1/3 to 1/2 open and she comes right up. Don't forget to cover the rear brake!
April 19, 20178 yr Thanks and I got it the name honest.Had a cx500 rat bike that I loved thrashing around the mountains on. Great fun until the throttle linkage on the carbs bind up and you end up taking a 30mph corner at 70mph.
April 21, 20178 yr i'm just wondering if anyone knows if the gearing i different between them at 65 i'm around 4500 at 80 i'm at 5500rpm i see all the fzs doing easy power wheelies i decided to try and can barely get the front wheel to come off the ground in 1st Just gonna throw my 2 cents in , but 2nd gear with tcs off at about 4000 to 5000 rpm , and clutch wheelie it up. It's so much easier to manage and more consistent by clutch wheeling than power wheeling
April 21, 20178 yr Author i had tcm off was able to get it up after a few attempts not what i would call effortless by any means guess ill have to practice more
