Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted November 21, 2023 Premium Member Share Posted November 21, 2023 Good luck It's such a PITA to remove and then have to reinstall the screen support assembly. It gives you the opportunity to clean and treat everything before assembly I guess...
Premium Member micah2074 Posted January 3 Premium Member Share Posted January 3 Mine finally broke. It wasn't hard to replace. I'm going to try and "fix" the old one and use it when the new one breaks. Let’s go Brandon
Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted January 3 Premium Member Share Posted January 3 You replaced the whole thing rather than reinforce it I'm still running my original but reinforced it when it showed signs of cracking. I think I posted photos of what I did if you're interested.
Premium Member micah2074 Posted January 3 Premium Member Share Posted January 3 Yes, I figured this might become a difficult part to find at some point and since it tends to fail... i'll have a spare. I'll fix the original at some point. 1 Let’s go Brandon
Supporting Member piotrek Posted January 3 Author Supporting Member Share Posted January 3 The dash stay is all fixed up. Three different shops to blast + weld + coat... so it took a bit of time with the holidays and all. Added beads where the factory cut corners, and a new brace behind the connector 'cage'. All this should greatly reduce forces acting on the upper tube. That's where the twisting/tearing occurs. I will assemble the front end over the weekend. 3
Oddjob
My dash stay is cracked big time at the usual spots, I wish I had figured it out before the nice weather is here 😭 Is there anyone near NJ that is willing to help me fix this? I will pay. The dealership near me has already proved untrustworthy unfortunately. edit: called a different dealer who’s going to replace it for $150(I have the part). Not bad!
