Checked the diameter of the SW Motech crash guards. Turns out the diameter of the SW Motech is at 1.07 inches with the powder coating (not exactly 1 inch in diameter). As such the stock 1 inch Axia Alloys clamp won't actually fit onto the crash bars.

I've reached out to get owner to get details on how they mounted the lights directly under the headlights. Will share once I have additional knowledge.

Other Niken owner supplied these additional reference pictures. Note: the lights that he ultimately used are more to make him more visible to others in traffic vs providing significant nighttime lighting for countryside roads. He  did share with me:

1) the concern that at full lean angles you run the risk of the larger lights getting squashed (first two photos) between the wheel fenders and the bottom part of the front fairing, and

2) prototyping photos of his mount with  automotive sized driving lights (last four photos).

His final mounting  solution ended up utilizing two bolts that secure the headlight housing to the fairing and was very light 0.5kg/~1.1lbs) including the mounting bar.  But because of the max lean concerns he ended up moving the bar as high as possible and used a much smaller light.

Additional close ups of the home made auxiliary light bar. Note that arms securing the mounting bar to the headlight bolts is welded on.

From an Italian Niken owner who shared how he mounted his auxiliary lights to the front using bolts secured to the front headlight unit.

On the subject of fitting Auxiliary lights can anyone tell me where to tap in for a trigger from the high beam circuit. On the tracer it was a yellow/brown wire that was negatively switched when high beam on does anyone know if the Niken is the same ?

Have to reference the user manual for that. This is what I have a far as reference wiring diagrams for headlight cables.

Note on page 2-34 #13 references a Sub wire harness with a fog light (optional) wiring. Might be possible to tap into this one specifically for the purposes of powering your auxiliary lights. Will be very interested in knowing what you find since I'll have to determine my wiring soon.

Just met with Rick from Adventuretech who brought over his prototype auxiliary light mount for the Yamaha Niken. Awesome guy - loves his motorcycles with a passion and knows what  motorcyclists need for their gear to perform. Highly recommend you check out Adventuretech's quality products.

Initial impressions - Very sturdy construction yet light (1 pound/0.454 kg). It's nonmagnetic aluminum construction and black satin powder coated. Has enough room on the middle portion to potentially mount a GoPro action camera.

Mounting the unit will require two small coupling bolts to ensure a robust mounting. Hole positions is dead on accurate with the two  locations of the headlight bolts that the bracket will need to be secured to.  Will post photos after I install and do test runs to check for vibrations and optimal power cable routing.

The design is such you can mount motorcycle auxiliary lights on top or on bottom without having to worry about clearance issues with the front suspension.  Unless your mounting auxiliary lights the size of 12 inch dinner plates this should work for the majority of auxiliary light users.

Pricing TBD but reach out to Rick at adventuretech.biz for more info.

Update on the Adventuretech prototype auxiliary light bracket. M6x18 mm coupling bolts from Amazon needed to ensure enough bolt strength to securely hold onto the bracket and lights. The stock headlight housing bolts didn't have enough thread to connect a nut securely after placing the bracket on.

With the coupling bolts installed the brackets fits perfectly under the front snout of the Niken and looks OEM.

Will take it out later to test for any front suspension obstruction with maximum lean angles since the Ackerman front end might introduce some unusual geometry challenges with the bracket. For now the bracket looks like it clears everything perfectly on its center stand.
