  1. Congratulations. Your wife knows about your new girlfriend and yet you're giving her a bath at 4:00 in the morning? Sounds pretty clandestine to me. 😉
  2. Good luck. I hope the roads aren't too messy. 😒
  3. Dunno about extra support, it was just bolted to the stock holes when I picked up the bike. Everything lined up and seemed okay when I dragged it home. Don't think I got it over 120 on the highway and couldn't see it very well in my mirrors but everything was still in place when I pulled in my driveway. The previous owner had the OEM shield in a bag. Measurements: 27" tall 19" wide, at the widest, near the top 18.5" wide, at the widest, near the bottom 14" wide, at the narrowest, near the middle
  4. Fresh tires? BAH! Ride the Tracer down. You're not lining up for qualifying at Sepang. Getting there is the adventure. IMHO, anyway.
  5. I still explore but I make sure I'm someplace that someone could at least get a 4WD truck in to. 😉
  6. Ride the Tracer and, maybe, don't even bother with The Dragon. There are soooo many other roads that are twisty and fun and not nearly as busy (or with as many idiots) as the Dragon. I rode down a few years ago, with some friends. The trip to the Dragon was far better than the actual thing. Cross the border in Buffalo and you have tons and tons of options for a great route south. https://goo.gl/maps/L6VpAK1D31wDwru47 Zoom in on the map around southern West Virginia, Virginia or northern North Carolina. it's absolutely covered in twisty, squiggly roads to pick from. You never know what you'll find. Personally, I think the Dragon is overhyped. You never know what you'll find along the way.
  7. Something to be said about having riding buddies ... the first year I had my Rally, I did some exploring, solo, on logging roads and trails in the area. I came off the bike at one point and landed hard on my ribs. It was at that point it dawned on me that, even if someone knew where I was, there was no way they were driving a car or pickup in to rescue me. Picking up the bike and riding home was painful.
  8. There was no hardware ... it was just bolted up, using the stock fasteners. It looks like it should fit, no problem. What do you think it fair? $75 sound okay?
  9. Hey Rick. Congrats on the new bike. I have a GIVI windscreen I'm not using. It came with my bike. I switched back to the stock screen before even trying the GIVI (wanted to see how horrible the stocker was). The stock screen with a clip-on spoiler works for me (benefit of being a hunched old man, I guess 😉). Not sure how long the previous owner had it on the bike but it's close to perfect condition.
  10. Dump a little fuel stabilizer in the tank before you fill it up and run the bike for a bit. I'm a fan of Seafoam in any fuel that will sit for a while.
  11. ... or, you could keep the Rally and add a Tracer. Enjoy both worlds! 😉
  12. Welcome. Nice find ... 2015, with 3700 miles. You have some nice country to ride in. Have fun!
  13. So, I got the mount. It's pretty cold out so I decided it was a good day to see how the Garmin cradle was going to bolt up. hmmmmmm ... the power cable on the 396 cradle exits straight out the back. Not gonna be able to bolt the cradle flush to the face of the mount. 🤬 Decision now is whether I create some sort of stand-offs for between the mount and cradle or get out my Dremel and start digging. It looks like I need about an inch between the face of the mount and the back of the cradle. It's the old lament ... why can't anything just be easy?
  14. Welcome. Hefty mileage on your BMW ... good for you. I'm sure the Tracer will be up to the task. Best of luck with the warm day in February. I'm just north of the 518 ... too much snow/ice for motorcycles, not enough snow/ice for sledding. 😒
  15. Some pretty good snowfalls this year. A cleverly camouflaged Honda Fit, with an F150 hiding in the background.
  16. Happy Holidays to all my fellow GWN'ers. I hope Santa was good to everyone and you've all managed to dig out.
  17. Hi, from the Great White North. Your bike sure looks clean. Are the blue fork legs stock?
  18. That one looks pretty substantial. I ordered the one from my original post. Probably not going to be trying it out anytime soon though. 😉
  19. That's the "original" design. As I mentioned ... the ball means you use an arm which, in my eyes, increases the vibration/shaking.
  20. Thanks. I'm running a ZUMO 396 LMT-S. I've bounced my CRF250 Rally all over the place and the stock Garmin cradle hasn't let me down. I would NEVER subject my GT to the same roads/trails. 😉
  21. That's awesome. Is it good and stable? Is it easy to reach the screen height adjustment? I find that using a ball/arm setup is much more susceptible to the unit being shaken around. Running rough backroads on my Honda can make the GPS very difficult to see clearly.
  22. I'm partial to having it closer to my line of sight. Similar to my Honda's setup. Much of the time, I just use the GPS as a speedo. Nice to have it easy to see.
  23. Bike is stored so it's time for shopping. I've been looking for GPS mounting options and found this. Kind of a derivation on a previous bracket. Screwing the GPS cradle directly to the mount should make the GPS more stable than a ball/arm/cradle setup. Anyone using one of these? https://www.amazon.ca/xitomer-Bracket-Tracer-Motorcycle-Navigation/dp/B0BF9P3LFD/ref=sr_1_14?crid=1NIBROGONXVYD&keywords=gps+mount+tracer+900&qid=1671549245&sprefix=gps+mount+tracer+900%2Caps%2C105&sr=1-14&vehicle=2019-1210-27127-20-----19253------1&vehicleName=2019+Yamaha+Tracer+900+GT
