The boxes on my 2020 have some movement. Give them a good shake. If they don't fall off you're good. Load them up with stuff and you don't notice the play. Welcome to the forum.

I went with a Kaoko throttle lock and a Kuryakyn throttle assist, on my old V-Strom. The Kaoko worked great, for the limited function a throttle "lock". The Kuryakyn assist is much smaller than most available and made it possible to hold the throttle with an open hand without being intrusive for day-to-day operation. They weren't closures. That was places where they had replaced culverts. A section of loose gravel, maybe 20 feet across. Farm equipment on fire out there would be way scary ... trees and brush right to the edges of the road, and all tinder dry. Enough of Canada is burning. We don't need more. 😉

We lucked out ... she noticed smoke early on and emptied a fire extinguisher into it then drove to the house and used the garden hose to soak everything down. We came away with 2 valuable bits of knowledge ... Clean out the machine on a regular basis and keep a fire extinguisher handy. I tore into it yesterday. Found a bearing had gone bad and the heat ignited some dust/chaff that was behind a sprocket.

I decided to play hooky from my haying duties yesterday. I hadn't ridden more than 50 miles on my 2 bikes, combined, last month. Farming is stupid ... I'm going riding! I enjoy looking at maps and plotting adventures, even short ones are enticing. As I only had a 1/2 day, I couldn't venture too far from home. I've been curious about a road, to the north of me, that parallels the Ontario/Quebec border and looks pretty remote, for being relatively close to civilization. Well, yesterday was the day to find out what it's about. Ontario highway 533 runs south-east from highway 63, north of North Bay, down to the town of Mattawa and is only about 30 miles in length. ( https://goo.gl/maps/h8Nb7oVsysDj7K557 ) On Google maps it looked to have some fairly good squiggles in it. I figured out early on that it was more of a "V-Strom" road than a Tracer road. The extra suspension travel and larger front wheel would have been better suited to the lumpy and poorly patched road. Avoiding the bad stuff with the Tracer just improves your riding skills, I guess. The ends are a little straight but the centre section had a good amount of twists and turns with elevation changes. There is really not much civilization along the route and I can only imagine trying to avoid the deer and moose if riding it at night. https://goo.gl/maps/qPG3UWu1YcSvrPzQ6 All in all, a fun bit of exploring. I think I would have been better off on my CRF250 Rally, but maybe next time. I got home around 5:00, happy and hungry and before I could even finish getting my gear off my wife phoned ... I hope you didn't take my reply as being wise-ass ... I was serious about selling my shorty screen. Oh, and the manual calls for 22 N-m, or 16 ft-lb as torque spec on the handlebar bolts. 😉

Looking to offload my cut down GIVI. I'm too short and hunch too much when I ride for it to be effective. Should work fine for someone taller ... I mean to have the wind hit you below helmet level. Screen is in great shape ... no scratches or anything. Would like $55 for it and not really interested in messing around with shipping. I'm in central Ontario, kind of, between Parry Sound and Huntsville. Let me know if you're interested and, maybe, we arrange a hand-off location.

I've ridden around Vancouver Island a little ... my brother lives in Victoria and I've ridden out a few times. Pretty place, but pretty expensive too. I have a great mix of riding where I live now. Have a CRF250 Rally for exploring dirt roads and trails and the Tracer for more focused road work.

Lots of people have trouble with the stock screen. I added a GIVI spoiler to mine and it works quite well. (I'm 5'10", with a 30" inseam, for ref) I also added some straight-up risers for the handlebars. Double benefit that it's more comfortable seating and it's easier to access the ignition switch. Where did you ride?

Anyone got a spare driver's seat cover for their 2019-2020 Tracer? Maybe you put on a Seat Concepts foam/cover and have the original collecting dust? Let me know. I have been experimenting with carving foam out of my seat and I'm concerned about the cover's integrity after a few staple sessions.

I did my seat slope butchering experiment. Removed the seat cover, cut down about 1/2" around the rear ridge of the seat foam then tapered the foam to the nose of the seat, and stapled the cover back on. I've ridden a couple of hours on it and I'd say it's 70%. Could have cut more but didn't want to go too far. Easier to cut more than it is to try and add it back. 😉

Check fortnine.ca for tires. I got a set of the Dunlop Roadsport II for my 2020. They were recommended to me and the pricing was a lot more reasonable than many.
