  1. Man, that is NOT what your screen name would suggest. Sounds like you're a CA transplant as well.was born in SoCal, moved to Grand Rapids a few years later... then I moved back to NorCal for a few years then moved back to Grand Rapids... I have always considered NorCal my 2nd home next to Grand Rapids so I mashed NorCal with GrandRapids zip code which is 616...
  2. replace the front sprocket for an aftermarket one...the stock one is ment to reduce chain noise but causes more vibrations due to the rubber damping disc...easy $30 fix in my book... loose hand guards is a big culprit as well as how hard you grip the handlebars...
  3. @superfist the reason I run my tires at 30/30 is because the suspension feels the best for me at 32/32psi when the tires get warmed up.... at first I tried 34/36 from 36/40 when I first got the bike home from the dealership and felt the tires feeling was riding on a knife edge when in the upper speed limits... I advise caution when you start dropping tire pressures, take it easy for first few mins then start getting into normal riding habits...
  4. whats your weight suited up? if your around 175# I can provide my settings for you to try out... biggest improvement for me was setting the tire psi at 30 for front and back...
  5. Took the ole bike out to watch the NHRA Northern Nationals at the local drag strip known as US 131 Dragway...It was great to see the Legendary Larry Dixon back behind wheel again... Track record was almost broken today by the same guy, Dom Lagana who set it in 2013 at 330.17mph in the 1/4mile...tonight he went 328ish and he even let off the gas early in qualifications run... My original plan was to go ride out to Detroit today and go see the drag racing @ Roadkill Nights- since a few friends are participating in the racing, he qualified #1 and took 3rd place!!.. apparently a record for the event was broken tonight, a mind boggling 5.7sec pass on a 1/8 mile strip public road- all cars in the event are street legal w/ tags and plate and must run DOT approved tires... The bike was happy to breathe in all the nitro fumes all day- now it's missing that extra oomph ? since I got home Also came to the conclusion the stock front sprocket rubber dount noise damping thingmajimmy causes more vibrations than a normal sprocket since I have a 1T smaller aftermarket sprocket on it...
  6. Totally ment to do that..... Haha! Good to know! should also mention I have flush mount turn signals...dunno on the stock floation devices ?
  7. spent the last 4.5hrs installing the CruiseControl... would have been quicker if I didnt have to pull the ECU connector apart to get the pin retainer to lock ?... and a big shout out to @higdonion for making the upper engine cage with just enough room to slide the inner fairing pieces out!!! quick trip to the gas station to test it out was fun...set it at 40mph in 3rd gear snd it held it while I did the YMCA down main street ?
  8. I wish I understood a word of this! I used the wideband sensor kit from my FZ-07 PowerCommander (PCV)... the wideband sensor is used to run the "AutoTuner" from PCV I didnt know I could treat the wideband sensor kit from PCV as " universal " as long as I use the POD300 display from PCV to see the AFR numbers, hence my little experiment... the reason I wanted to see what AFR numbers my FJ-09 was kicking out was because my Graves exhaust tip has a nice black carbon soot coating at all times...I suspected the bike was running 14.1-13.7 AFR which is not too rich nor too lean...even tho my hunch was right, I know some motors make the best power feeling at 14.1 AFR than a leaner AFR at 12.5-12.7 like my FZ-07 likes... cant complain as my exhaust choice and tune software puts the most power down as far as I know...
  9. For giggles and to calm the curiosity bug in me... had an idea on the way home from work this morning wondering if I can use the " Auto tune " module add-on from my FZ-07 PVC which is what converts the wideband o2 sensor info into AFR to see what AFR numbers I'm getting... Quick test first by parking the bikes really close to allow me to quickly just insert the wideband into the FJ-09 without pulling the whole thing outta the FZ-07... so I put the wideband on the FJ-09, isolated the Autotune box from the FZ-07 PVC, I got the PVC POD300 display which shows real time data of many things aND doubles as the FZ-07 shift light... then I just turned the power on on the FZ-07, then fired up the FJ-09, waited 10 secs and voila AFR numbers showed up ?... then spent the next 3hrs pulling the AFR system outta the FZ-07 and putting it on the FJ-09... The Autotune module from PVC can be used as a stand alone AFR gauge w/ the POD300 display, I did not know that till now... it's universal it seems!
  10. Broke the news to "Red" shes getting Cruise Control installed this weekend since its being delivered Thursday from MCCruise, in which "Red" rewarded me with a phenomenal stop-light launch against this silly 2017 Mustang driver ?... on the other hand not gonna try my luck against a local daily driver sleeper Mustang, (7.90s in 1/4 mile on stock junkyard 115k mile LS motor ? and 26" rear tires)... gotta love e85 ?
  11. Aaaaaand it's AWESOME. OMG why did I wait two whole years to try this?!? Airflow is amazingly good, wind hits me mid-torso and clean, undisturbed air over the helmet with no noisy buffeting at all. THIS is glorious for summer riding. Back to my naked bike roots! Followed suit and pulled the windscreen..100000% better and yes its nice quiet airflow that even I noticed with my hearing loss... airflow like my FZ-07 ?
  12. That's a good first impression to have - but I'm still not clear if that is the Seat Concepts 'standard' replacement seat or their newer 'Touring' kit, which I currently have installed. I can't quite flat-foot it at rest unless I straighten right up on the seat and move right forward. Thanks for the response...
  13. @wordsmith first impression of the new seat sitting on it in the garage is leaps and bounds better than OEM... where the seat gets skinny just past the bucket seat on the new seat, it holds my thighs up more, when the stock one put all the pressure in that area... I can actually flat foot the FJ-09 now... and the bonus is the new seat places me right in my preferred seating area and its level surface from front to back is nice, allows me to get intimate with the gas tank when hitting the curvy roads...
  14. Norcal - is that the Touring seat, or the (earlier) Standard seat replacement kit from Seat Concepts? Comments after trying it out would interest many here... thanks.
  15. Norcal - is that the Touring seat, or the (earlier) Standard seat replacement kit from Seat Concepts? Comments after trying it out would interest many here... thanks.its the standard replacement style...my skinny 150# unsuited arse dont need the highchair style thickness seat... I have a standard seat concepts kit on my FZ-07 and love it...I love the way the seat just holds me in place unless I scoot myself around... longest trip was a 17hr day with gas stops, a few sit down meals...had a Yamaha comfort seat for the FZ-07 and it makes for an excellent race seat... will post side by side pics of the foam hopefully this weekend or sooner...
  16. got this little project for the weekend on my doorstep and got my old stock exhaust bubble wrapped up for AdvRich...what a productive pit stop from work...
  17. ordered the Seat Concepts foam and cover on monday...just got the shipment notification for delivery this sat! hmmm I was not expecting anything for at least 2 weeks due to busy time at the vendor...
  18. Finally got comfortable with Launch Control... wwwooowwww, it's something to experience... found out in 6th gear at 9k rpms one is doing approx 140mph on a closed course...
  19. A few hours ago I went to the gas station for some drinks and thought I need to start playing with the Launch Control... First attempt was a total failure after 5 tries, the RPMs didnt hold at 7500 for some reason -_- ... Rode away from the 4-way stop defeated but curious as to why the @&!:/รท_ didnt work! Not a moment too soon after I said that the answer revealed its self, I just happened to look down at the left hand control housing and saw a 2 prong wire connection staring right at me... Sure enough after I got to the gas station I put the connection back in its spot only to realize it was the clutch safety wire connection :/ , hmmm thats probably why Launch Control never held the RPMs... After getting my drinks and triple checking the connection was secure, I went back to the 4-way stop and tried again... Sure enough it worked, it totaly caught me off guard as soon as I saw the RPMs holding steady at 7500 and I felt my throttle hit the end of its travel, that alone made my heart beat @ 900 beats per min...had to let off the throttle and try to lower my heart rate, baby steps are needed here I tell myself, next time I am gonna be more prepared to try Launch Control...hehehehehe that can wait till after this weekend of drag racing ?... Lets see what this red rocket does... And I tried out my new air gauge I brought... http://www.motosport.com/product/?adpos=1o1&cc=us&creative=188670676315&device=m&gclid=CM63sZX5r9QCFQEOaQodT5gLQQ&key=Motion-Pro-Digital-Tire-Pressure-Gauge&matchtype=&network=g&product_id=MP-PTG-002&psreferrer=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F&pssource=true&segment=badger Now I can verify the accuracy of the Cyclops Tire Pressure Monitor System...
  20. It was a great experience... It was put on by a huge local dealership, wonderful interaction for my first experience with this particular dealership, the instructors are from an organization called Sportsbike Track Time, they put on alot of track days for ppl to learn and ride... I choose to ride in Novice as it was my first time and never been on a road course, they taught us the flags the tracks use for communication, body position, tips on picking reference points for corner entry and exit... The novice class was broken down into 8 groups, 8 being the slowest and most relaxing pace to 1 being the fastest paced...you can move up or down to another group if you feel the need... I plan to do a few more track days with STT... The FJ-09 is no slouch its just a FZ-09 in a gentlemans blazer ?... The speeds we experienced in our group was decent but even tho the instructors were over exaggerating the body positions it served a purpose to get us comfortable hanging off the bike... The track I rode at was Grattan Raceway outta Belding Michigan... 3rd and 4th gear was all I used thru the corners with the exception of 5th gear on the straightway...stock suspension and tires set at 30/30... Foot pegs are a tad low, dragged the outside edge of toe a few times on the aprons but its not a crotch rocket so I stopped hugging the inside corner just a tad...
  21. After track day with Jake from the FZ-07 forum...UPS left me goodies on my doorstep... Higdonion Cage fits the Graves Exhaust ?
  22. Running laps @ Grattan Raceway Broke the tires in...on street I run 36/34... Track I was told to run 32/32 which I did, if it felt a squirmy at 32/32 bump the pressure down to 30/30...
