  1. Yeah. Guy was weird. Wrote me up. Saw me put my ear plugs back in, helmet on then pulls up beside me and starts talking. I say hold on and take everything off again. Asks me if I like hot springs. Said I'd never been. He points behind me. I guess they were down some steps from where I was at. Wrote me up and then small talk. Geez. I know, maybe he was hitting on me. Ha. Weirdo. Lowman looks like it could be Kentucky. No offense.
  2. That's a good ride. Rode it back in November. Got me a welcome to Idaho ticket. 70 in a 50 heading out of Lowman in the canyon. A little sketchy, but fun near Lowman. Low 40's snow and ice.
  3. That looks good. I've been to Lowman and then back down 55. Got a ticket on that ride my first month here. Ouch.
  4. Stayed close to home. Headed west, maybe southwest from Kuna towards Wilson Peak, ran out of road. Kept going a mile or two then turned around. Went down towards Silver Spring, same thing. On an appropriate bike I could have kept going. Not sure where I would have ended up, but... Tomorrow I'll stay on the pavement. Looks like out of Caldwell there could be a few good roads. Maybe head to Horseshoe Bend then head home. I think any decent riding requires some elevation. Still a little chilly.
  5. I'm out here in Kuna on the '16 black.
  6. I hadn't purchased a bike in 30 years, so I felt a little more comfortable buying the extended warranty. The dash had moisture inside and was replaced under warranty. Simple process. Service Manager took care of everything. So far so good. Dan
  7. Valve Adj, TBS, plugs and air filter - $475.00 performed at a Yamaha dealer Also had the clutch cable replaced. I think that was another $100.00. Didn't feel comfortable trying to do valve adj. While they're in there they may as well do it all.
  8. I'm a little late. Didn't realize you had sold the Tracer. Bummer. When you get yourself right you have room for that Guzzi!
  9. I like this too. Yesterday I was reading on the ADV forum about the new "Travel" model. My only issue is the closest dealer is over 400 miles away.
  10. Great. Ktech piston kit and springs.
  11. Is this bike in Sacramento? Had my forks done at BHP. The mechanic who worked on my bike has a bike fitting this description and two other bikes you mentioned. That Tracer has the rims, tires, exhaust, Ohlins, steering stabilizer and probably left out several other things.
  12. I have a Nitron shock set up for my weight. We'll be in the Boise area. Maybe settle down in Kuna. That's good to hear about Idaho. Kind of spoiled here in Nor Cal.
  13. Finally gonna get my front end sorted out. Local independent shop ordered Ktech piston kit and springs today. Can't wait. They'll get it done before we leave for Idaho the 5th. Went back and forth for months on several options. Springs only Andreani Cartridges Ktech Cartridges Stoltech Moto drop in cartridge Pattonme Racetech gold valves
  14. I test rode one about a month ago. Really comfortable and a smooth ride. The engine isn't for me. For that bike the engine is probably great. I like my triple.
  15. Dave Moss was at Cycle Gear in Sacramento last Saturday. Had him tune my suspension. I have a Nitron shock and stock forks. The shock was set up pretty close. He adjusted the rebound. Front end needs help. He adjusted preload and rebound. Said take it for a ride and come back. Came back and he made a few adjustments. Went for a ride and came back. Had him adjust back to the first settings he did. Well worth $40.00. So now I'm ready to do something with the front end. Not sure which way to go. Looking for a little more forgiveness on surface streets with same handling I have now on the twisties. Oh, and he said he rides a Tracer!!
  16. You're a former local guy. Rider lost his life last weekend on Salmon Falls Road. I was a few minutes behind. When I rode by there were several sport bikes and somebody administering CPR. Shook me up for a while. Came into a corner too hot, crashed and hit his head on the guard rail. It's a popular road that people treat as their racetrack, but lots of houses, bikes and rafting vans make it unsafe when traveling at high speeds.
  17. Making time for this one! Looks like the weather will cooperate. Thanks
  18. We'll probably end up in Kuna. Don't know what the roads are like up there. I saw a lot dirt roads from the highways going into the hills. May be time for that dual sport.
  19. That's one area I haven't ridden. No excuse really since I'm near Sacramento. I have 3 weeks to get up there. Moving to the Boise area.
  20. That color looks good. What are your thoughts on chain vs shaft?
  21. I hadn't considered the RS. Nice looking bike. Looks like another trip to the dealer to check it out. Another thing about the horsepower. I ride the FJ in STD mode 99% of the time. I'm probably in the minority there. "A" mode is like a new bike for me! I tried telling my son about the XR. He dismissed it because of the blue paint scheme. He ended up buying a 950 Multistrada. Now he wants to ride the XR. The dealer had one in triple black. Very nice!
  22. The local bmw dealer has test rides every Saturday. I try to stay away. They're also a ducati and triumph dealer so lots to choose from. I dont need the power. I guess it's a want vs need. Ha. After riding the mt-10 the power thing is cool.
  23. For that kind of cash, I would expect stellar. I wondered about the vibration issues. I thought I read somewhere, where they had it sorted out on later models. I guess not.
  24. I read somewhere there were vibration issues on early models. I haven't sat on one. The price is also a deterrent. I'm sure maintenance costs are up there too.
  25. When I purchased my bike it was in the tray under the passenger seat. Stumbled on where it went by the shape of it. I had the bike serviced recently. A week later I removed the seat to access the pigtail. The rubber piece was missing. Long story short it was in the tray again.
