  1. Well to be honest I ever heard of death Valley until that day. Man, You actually camped there? I can only imagine the skies. I'm back now, but my bike needs some attention and my ass needs a rest. 5000 mile over due on the valve clearance check. Hopefully their in spec. Cam tensioner is making some noise once in awhile. FYI I'm in Skokie often... Amazon Flex has a warehouse there. Enjoy, stay hydrate, and ride safe.
  2. Definitely didn’t expect that heat. Well I do live in IL, just on a west coast trip right now.
  3. According to the owner manual, Yamaha states the temp gauge will not go beyond 115F if I recall correctly. Well guys, I hit 122 when filling up on gas and that’s with the engine heat affecting the temperature sensor. However I also hit 120F WHILE riding 65 MPH. That’s a more accurate reading the ambient temperature. Not sure why there’s a line on the dash, my iPhone was acting up while taking the picture and overheating sometimes. According to my dash the average temperature in Death Valley was around 117F when my brother and I went through. BTW, it’s amazing view riding through Death Valley! Would definitely recommend it. Just pick a right time when it’s not too hot!
  4. Here's a picture of my Madstad windshield. Highly recommend it for touring. And it very easy to remove it for the hot summer days too. Only takes 4 screw and its completely removed. Plus its has adjustable height too. If I had to change something about it, I would change all the screws to stainless steel screws. The ones that came with the windshield already have rust on them and its only been one year.
  5. I personally use A-mode, however, After the winter months I do find my self struggling with the jerkiness of the throttle. That usually goes away pretty quickly. My brother also rides my bike once in awhile and he only uses B-mode. He never puts it back to A-mode. When I get on the bike I don't notice the difference until I want to accelerate fast. Usually happens after 4 stops and I'm like what the hell is wrong with my bike... oh its in B-mode. Interesting, That's something I am learning, holding the RPM through a turn especially when its high RPM. B-mode or STD-mode would probably be a better option.
  6. Noticed this a couple weeks ago, looking nice 👍. I personally like the color. However the third pipe didn’t change color 🧐. i’m due for a valve clearance check in like 1000 miles so I’ll see if my exhaust is running too hot but I don’t think that’s the issue. that’s if I even do the valve clearance check at the recommended miles.
  7. Well let’s think this through. You had your ECU flashed and had no issue, right? However the baffle was already in your system, correct? So what I’m saying is your ecu flash worked perfectly fine with the metal mesh that made your exhaust quiet. my theory is one of your sensors went out which is not causing a check engine light and its causing your engine to go under power above 3/4 throttle. contact your person who flashed your ECU and ask if there should be a baffle installed on the exhaust.
  8. Very interesting thread, Subscribed. A clogged exhaust will have a major effect on the acceleration. However, I would definitely put back the buffing pieces and just double check all the sensors and use fresh gasoline. If fresh gasoline doesn't work then it has something to due with fuel injection. Good Luck!
  9. I learned the hard way too. About 3500 miles away from home and my rear tire started to wear quicker then expected. Thankfully the local shop took care of me quickly. Another mistake was my chain. I did some off road riding (75 miles on gravel and dirt roads) it destroy my chain. I stop at Autozone to buy a cheap tiny brush and WD-40. WD-40 helped keep my chain quite for the most part. I went through like 3 small cans of WD-40. By the time I got home I had 3 stiff links and tons of noise coming from the chain. 23000 miles on that chain. Next time I'll bring a brush and some good lube. Water works good enough to remove dirt from the chain.
  10. Awesome, How many miles per fill up, with the auxiliary tank?
  11. Thanks for all the advice. Definitely learned some information.
  12. I was impressed too, however , you can say I was calling it close.
  13. Interesting, I never heard that theory before. Anyways, I’ll Bump up my tire pressure to 42 PSI and hope it doesn’t wear abnormally. Otherwise I’ll be replacing it somewhere in the West Coast
  14. Thanks guys, I’ll double check my front suspension setup. I’m pretty sure it has to do with the suspension.
  15. Hello, I am planning another west coast trip in a week. When I got back from my last trip I notice I had some uneven tire wear. This happened to me twice already. I had replace my front tire before my rear which sucked....... The two picture above is the OEM tire that came with the bike. I think I replaced it around 8000 or 10000 miles. This was do to low tire pressure I believe... (Side Note got 14000 miles on rear tire ) By the time I noticed it, the front tire pressure was around 15 PSI. Which was way too low. So, I thought it was my fault due to poor maintenance. As you can see the tire had plenty of tread left but the uneven was was causing serious speed wobbles at 35 MPH with no hands. Now fast forward to 23000 miles I notice my front tire is starting to have uneven wear again. However, the tire pressure is fine. 38 PSI. So this time something else is causing my problem. I am guessing its my suspension setup, What do you guys think? Has anyone else experienced this? Currently the bike handles fine, only light speed wobbles at speed over 100 MPH but the bike always had that issue to a certain degree.
  16. Nice I really like it. I installed the Yamaha Radiator Guard part number #: B1J-E24D0-V0-00. But I am really digging the Evotech a little more. Looks like it offers more protection and it looks more secure. Anyways, I didn't have any rattles/noises with my radiator guard, installation was also easy, plus its been through some off-roading. Radiator guards are cheap insurance for the unexpected. You never know if you'll see a flying turkey. lol
  17. It took 10 days and 7200 miles. With a average of 45.6 MPG. Yep the road was closed. Don’t remember where it was exactly.
  18. I just wanted to share some pictures from my west coast trip. -California HWY 1 - California South Cow Mountain Recreation Area Extremely beautiful in the sunset. Literally on the top mountain with half burned down forest. What a view. This picture doesn't do justice. - California Near Eldorado National Forest - California N38 41.4551, W119 48.880 Man that was a cold night. After this night I said no more high attitude camping. I also arrived at 10 PM. - Southern California - Nevada Las Vegas Quick Oil Change - Utah Zion National Park - Arizona Grand Canyon North Rim Literally no one around for 24 miles besides some free range cattle. For those who want to travel on a budget download "iOverLander" application on your phone and you can find tons camping spots. All the camping spots I chose were free. Usually campground you have to pay. Just read the description and look at the pictures. The picture of Grand Canyon was a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) camping spot however it was too windy for a tent and I ended up getting a motel.
  19. I just got back from a 7200 mile west coast trip. I wanted to make it home for my Mom's birthday. I had two days to make it home. I was in near Zion national park, Utah camping on BLM land. Man when I typed home in my GPS the shortest route was 22 hours long. However, I couldn't take the shortest route because it wanted me to go through Colorado and higher elevation states. There was no way I was going to survive that in Spring. So I had to choose the southern route which was 25 hours long. I believe the first day I did roughly 650 miles plus and the next day next I did 1022 miles. STOCK SEAT.
  20. Welcome, My first bike was Kawasaki KZ550. Everyone loved the KZ900 & KZ1000 back in the day. To this day I still want a older 1978 kz900. When I saw that Kawasaki was releasing the Z900RS Cafe I wanted it. I was actually thinking about buying it. Then I realized the Z900RS motor just wasn't enough, even though it was inline4. On the other the you'll love the CP3 engine. The styling of the Z900RS is on point though. Here's old project of semi cafe bike I worked on. 750CC motor into kz650 frame.
  21. For sure, I actually already rode to Lake Geneva this year. It's a wonderful town. Next time I'll let you know when I'm riding around Lake Geneva.
  22. For those who are exploring aftermarket exhaust, check out Beet Japan. I don't even remember how I heard of them. It's one of the more beautiful looking exhaust out there. Not sure how it actually sounds. Its pricey though, $2000 plus. Guess what? You can also use the center stand!!! BEET|Lineup:YAMAHA TRACER900
  23. Welcome, What part of Wisconsin are you from. I usually ride to Ferryville WI about 45 minutes south of La Crosse. It's one of my favorite northern routes near me. Just look at all those curvy roads. The smaller side streets are usually on the slower speeds. However, the main streets you can fly by, 80 MPH plus on a curve. Just be careful you can get air sometimes.
