Goodbye to my 2019 Tracer 900 GT and to the Forum

Recommended Posts

Well after just shy of 2 years I have sadly parted with my beloved 2019 Tracer 900 GT, having traded it yesterday on a 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. I have learned much on this Forum about the Tracers, and while I too look forward to seeing what the new T9GT+ will be in the flesh, I have decided to change direction on my second bike a little ... more toward the offroad side. Riding the two bikes back to bad as I did yesterday, the Tracer triple is still sublime, and I will miss that smoothness in its nature especially on long distance trips. The Triumph triple is quite different and will take getting used to.

Anyway, that's it for now. I expect that my Tracer will be listed soon on the website of Woodlands Premium Motorcycles here in the Houston area, so if someone here is looking for a well-cared-for Tracer 900 GTwith all the useful mods I have installed you can check them out. Take care, y'all.

Too bad that you are leaving, I still post on a BMW site now even though I sold my 2009 K1300GT. There is info on sites that may not be specific to your bike but may provide insight.

Thanks Barry but time is too short. I run my own RS forum and supposedly moderate another, in addition to following along on the Tracer (and now Tiger) forum. But it’s true what you say that some stuff could be useful to all motorcycles.

I wish you all the best with your new bike, as it sounds like a great choice.   And welcome to the Triumph family!  They have the ownership experience well sorted.  I bought my Speed Twin at Bell County Motorworks in Temple, but am also very familiar with Woodlands Premium… good folks to deal with.

You’re right that time is short, so I think I’m going riding today!   Lunch at Kenney Store, perhaps?

Grumpy

I hate to see you go but you will enjoy the Tiger.
I was torn between the Tiger 900 GT (or 850 Sport) and the Tracer 9 GT.
More road riding led to the Tracer.

Take care

Thanks Scott. So far I like it enough. :) I just went for a short ride before it got too hot and hit some pleasant twisties not too far away from my house and came back home in time for lunch here. Bike is growing on me especially since this is the test ride I should have been able to take before buying it. Handles very well on the road in the twisty stuff with that 21" front wheel.

Never been to the Kenney Store (since I never heard of it) ... will give it a try one of these days.

I can agree with you on that score. If you are only going to ride on the road then I think that the Tracer 9 GT would be a better choice than the Tiger 900 GT as far as the powertrain goes. I like the sweetness of the Tracer's CP3 triple better than the T-plan crank and the 1-3-2 firing order of the Tigers, although I suppose I understand the need in the Rally versions. I was initially looking at the Tiger 900 GT but when I found that I could touch the ground on the Rally similarly to the Tracer (both seats in the low position) I decided to go with the Rally Pro.

I assume you’re on the north side of Houston?   The Yankee Tavern near Anderson is a good lunch spot, and has the added benefit of being right by 3090 for some nice riding.

Orsaks in Fayetteville is an old favorite, along with The Hill & Newmans Bakery in Bellville.   Royer’s in Round Top is outstanding as well.   I’m sure there are 100’s more great little places scattered about… finding them is half the fun.

The Kenney Store is just a bit south of Brenham.  It’s fun, food is good, and draws a large motorcycle crowd for lunch on nice weekend weather days.

Glad the Tiger is working for you.  Enjoy!

Yes I know the Yankee Tavern and Orsaks, where some friends and I went for pie after a ride. Went to some place in Round Top years ago and had a burger which was great. I usually ride by myself to give the bikes some exercise, and don’t usually stop for anything until I get home.

We’re going to miss your forthright views on here Grumpy.  We need more characters like you. Ride safe and enjoy the Triumph.

Thanks for the kind words, Paddy. I will also miss the knowledge-sharing and pleasant chat here, in addition to the Tracer. I will continue to be an ambassador for the model, as I truly believe that it is one of the very best options in the sport tourer category.

Good Luck with the new bike. $9499 for the 900GT seems like an decent deal with the option you installed.

It’s actually a steal at that price. How did you come across that?

Just followed the link in your previous post. Don't forget to add your new bike to the end of your posts 🙂
