rear tire hugger

I have both the rear hugger extension (the real carbon version versus ABS plastic model, which I drilled and bolted on along with 3M exterior double-sided tape) and the front fender extender... both very effective and minimalist in design. There are Chinese copies of rear extenders that are pretty gosh on ebay, etc.

They have huggers too but they are not much longer than OEM, though they are painted to match.

Thanks. Do they keep the dirt from under the seats? i heard that the fender extenders don't really work. I was thinking about the tire huggers that are mounted on the swing arm and are at the very back of the tire.

Hey Fellas.  looking for a rear tire hugger that works.
Keep lookin' and post anything of interest.   Many have sought, few have found...   I tried a DIY attempt: FAIL!

I rode through wet roads, mud, rain, etc and the underside of the tail still gets spray but not too bad.  Its a lot better than without the extensions, which are relatively inexpensive, easy to install and looks OEM...

I use the R&G hugger

Go here: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rg-racing-rear-hugger-yamaha-fz-09-fj-09-xsr900

It is easy to install, integrates well with the bike look and really works well. It is a lot bigger/longer than most.

It keeps the shock clean, and the underside of rear end. I use soft saddle bags and it keeps the inside of these bags clean as well. It has been on since the bike, a '15, was new with no problem.

It does not interfere with real wheel removal.

Living in the NW, I ride a lot in the rain. This unit has been very helpful.

I've had my eye on that one as well and I sure wish I could see a better pic of one mounted.

For 37% of the cost the pyramid extension covers to the same extent as the RG racing hugger

...I'd like to believe that, but just looking at the two side-by-side... it is very, very unlikely. At $160... yeah, pretty steep... but maybe Ali and Tosis will get their hands on one soon. Perhaps @huck could send them (or just post it here I guess) a good quality shot of it on his bike.

These two pictures aren't taken at the same angle, so it makes it difficult to compare. Offhand, it looks like the one on the left is much narrower, but it's not clear which one covers further to the rear

Anyone who is adept with fibreglass fabrications could easily remove the minimalist/ almost useless OE 'hugger', make an extended mould using the OE as the base, and produce an item as long as you wish.

Another one piece option, although still looking a bit more form than function.

IMHO, that looks OK: give it a slight downward 'lip' at each side to minimise outward splashing of water, and it would be fine I'm sure.   Length could be a little greater by 2", say, and a little side-on curvature following the line of the tyre would make it visually a little more appealing and effective maybe, but a good start.   7/10.

"pretty steep..." ? ? ?   It's nucking futz!  Easily twice what I'd pay for something like that.
