I appreciate the link, which I'll study more carefully later. But as a starter, if I may - where is the ECU located, and how easy is it to 'remove your ECU?' Many thanks... WS- under the fuel tank, in the air box lid. You need to remove the front fairings, top fuel tank plastic, and trim pieces just under the rider seat which extend along the tank (that your knees rest against) there’s a step-by-step around here somewhere. 10 minute job. -Skip

Disassembly of body panels is exactly the same as when you clean your air filter, the ECU is sitting on top of the air box. 1 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

Anyone care to tell...? I was talking to my tuning guru earlier and mentioned the magic words, saying that from this Forum it seems there's a 'flasher' (you know what I mean) on every street corner, but here in Oz I've never been aware of anybody offering the service. His immediate and rather emphatic reply was 'DO IT!' Since I don't know what IT is, and don't in any case feel that my 7231km 2019 GT has any need for it, I'll pass for the time being, but I'm seeing him on Friday and intend to quiz him further on the subject. I might even ask him to take my bike round the block to see if he finds a need for a flash. But I'd still like to hear from others here just what IT is and what is done... TIA. @wordsmith I have had mine flashed by Kev Hope in Brisbane 0403707565 or Kevxtx@outlook.com . He also made the 'o2 sensor' removal plug ages ago and sold world wide. He is about 20 mins from your place and the tune takes about an hour, ride in, ride out. Smooth throttle, lower temp for fan, Speed limiter gone and some other stuff.

Although also recall he got his ECU flashed in the UK during a riding trip. Still, he’ll have the details and the tuner probably does mail order. I have never had a bike or been test riding a bike that has been ecu flashed but it seems nice to have all those restrictions removed i feel like. But there is one thing i want answered. Tja!

Supporting Member dazzler24 Posted November 27, 2019 Supporting Member Share Posted November 27, 2019 C'mon BugsInTeeth! It's pretty obvious what the captain said!..... Quote As BBB said further down the thread, I have mapped my Tracer (2015), though in England. You will find a link further down the thread. Before choosing S-TEC performance, I was in contact with the Yamahacenter in Helsingborg, which also performed mapping. If I remember correctly, they want SEK 5-6000 for the job and you can send your ECU to those with Posten. Have for me that they use the same software as many others, from Woolich Racing. But as I said, I chose to use Simon at S-TEC in England as he has developed folders specifically for Tracern and other Yamaha MT engines and has become something of a specialist on our bikes. He also has a service where you can email your ECU. I took the opportunity when I was on an England trip earlier this year and got the mapping done in place. I paid £300 equivalent to SEK 3700 which is considerably less than the Yamahacenter. If you send your ECU to him it is slightly cheaper as he does not have to pay to remove and reassemble the ECU. I am very pleased with the mapping and can warmly recommend Simon. Don't know where you live in Sweden but during the winter it is really the place to send the ECU. Send an email to Simon. He is good at answering questions and explaining how mapping works and what improvements you get. 😎😉
