petshark
Not sure what the proper English name is but it's called a weather strip in car doors. I can put it back and it doesn't look like it's glued in from the factory. It does not fall out on it's own but every time something in the case rubs against the lid when I open it that rubber strip comes out half the way. Before I get to work with superglue, I wanted to check with the community if there is a preferred way to take care of this.
Buggy Nate
Yeah mine was doing the same. Bugged the absolute shit out of me! I used contact adhesive to glue it in place. It won’t harden the rubber like super glue can.
Pupsi
I used silicone and it failed. I used superglue and it held. It's been fine for several months.
petshark
Thanks for the tips. Did you guys glue the entire thing (pull the entire rubber off first) or just a few drops here and there?
Buggy Nate
I glued the lot. Hasn’t moved in two years.
Premium Member sirepair Posted January 6, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted January 6, 2021 3M weatherstrip adhesive dabbed every couple inches along the entire length.
SuperMax
I used silicone for the entire length of it and it worked just fine for the last months. I would avoid superglue, as if the rubber will eventually wear out (or tear), it would be pretty challenging to get it off and replace it
