  1. @Piotrek, it's coming.. I'm going to use the Yamaha rack instead of the SHAD top case mount so I didn't order the whole set. Probably order it in the next month or two.
  2. They are Barkbuster Blizzards.. paired with the OEM heated grips they are great and look decent with the bike too. I've ridden in temperatures into the 20s (Farenheit) without a problem. http://i.imgur.com/8oYHvWG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OrrU8PS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/s7Dajh3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yxjMe1e.jpg
  3. I got a set of SHAD SH36s for Christmas... installed them and put some orange vinyl tap on them so they match the theme of the bike. Very impressed with the quality.. http://i.imgur.com/cH6V3Ey.jpg
  4. Ya know, I believe there must be some production variances between bikes. I have read posts on here of people claiming 6-8mph variance when compared to a GPS, while others (myself included) experience much more accurate results, 1-2 mph variance. I'm not really certain how or where the speed is detected on this bike, but there seems to be a large margin of error between bikes. The variance reported here was after changing the gearing so that is to be expected.
  5. @papac2000 when you ran the FJ on the dyno after your version 2 mod, was the ECU tuned at all, or was that running the stock ECU? Sorry if you already answered that, I've been reading through this thread and I'm sure I overlooked some details.
  6. @autobiker your FJR cases turned out really nice with the color match.
  7. I agree.. the SH39 matches the SH36s perfectly. Just worried I'm going for form over function so I wanted some input. I'm still leaning toward the SH39, I just don't think I need anything bigger.
  8. I like the size and capabilities of the SH48 and SH46, but I think the SH39 matches the looks of the bike and SH36 cases best. Thanks for the replies and pictures. Not many people have the Yamaha top case I guess...
  9. @wiggin what made you downsize from a bigger top box?
  10. I'm finally going to pull the trigger on some SHAD SH36 hard cases. I want to get a top case as well but am having a hard time deciding which case to go with. I've been leaning towards the SH39 with the SHAD plate installed on the Yamaha rack. I like the idea that the SH48 holds 2 full face helmets, but that thing looks huge on the back of a FJ. Just looking for some comments, pictures and opinions on the 2 (or yamaha top case too). Does the SH48 look to big? Negatively affect aerodynamics? Is the size difference between the SH39 and SH48 even enough to worry about?
  11. So I had a chance to run the bike a little bit today... all I can say is wow. I didn't realize how noisy the old tensioner was. There were times when I could hear it "clacking" which was obvious but I didn't realize how much chatter was going on all the time... I guess I thought it was the clutch making the noise, but now that I have to new tensioner installed it is noticeably much more quiet. Glad I went ahead and got that replaced...
  12. Nice! Mine was replaced today. Have't had a chance to ride it. Definitely a bright red mark on the new tensioner... I hate not working on the bike myself... I hope everything was put in correctly, seems like an easy job and the tech that worked on my bike has a FZ-09 and replaced his tensioner so I felt like that was a good sign.
  13. Looks awesome.... now clean those headers up! :-P
  14. @piotrek I noticed that mine had done the same thing. Didn't really bother me because they still hold the windscreen so I left them for now.. cracks and all...
  15. It is mentioned in scanned document in very begining of this thread - tensioner kit 1: 90891-10272. Here in Czech republic it costs 1464 CZK, which is 58 USDIt consists of several parts including modified "tensioner assy 1RC-12210-09" which costs 3614 CZK (143 USD) if you order as a separate part... It is odd yet true Got ya.. I thought it may have been something different. My dealer called this morning to tell me that the kit had come in. So it took them a month and a half to get the part. Taking the bike up there next week to get the new tensioner installed.
  16. Thanks @camthelurker for the feedback about the levers.. I didn't mention short springs, so I'm not sure what you mean by that.
  17. What is the "repairing tensioner kit"? Do you have a link? Just curious.
  18. I have a set of these sitting in my garage.. I went to install them one day but was worried that they would change the angle of the shifter and brake levers in relation to the pegs... Can you comment on that after your test ride? Did you notice a difference?
  19. @cbr600 No all hardware associated with the OEM handguards is removed.. They are semi-rigid, with aluminum, metal and plastic woven into the guards so they stand up to highway speeds. Combined with the OEM heated grips that are awesome! Here are some pictures so you can tell how they are mounted. http://i.imgur.com/s7Dajh3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/X1RStdf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2nUvj4D.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OrrU8PS.jpg
  20. I was meaning to ask somewhere on the forum just how well motorcycle tires do in below freezing temps. I realize, compounds are generally softer (multi-compound types) than what is found on typical all-season car tires (single compound), but still... doesn't traction become compromised at some point? Rubber generally meant for summer doesn't do well in the winter, and vice versa... just asking. :| I have about 5100 miles on the stock tires.. I notice that when leaving the parking lot of my workplace if I get on it right away I can trigger the TCS, but generally after I make it down the road a bit I notice no difference in handling characteristics. I always keep the psi at recommended settings, but dropping a few psi as suggested by @pattonme might not be a bad idea.
  21. @angelocorreia I live in GA so I can ride almost year-round. These Barkbuster Blizzards combined with the OEM heated grips are amazing.. I think I will be able to ride until it hits the low 20s Farenheit.
  22. Same here, been almost 2 months. Bike is sitting sad in the garage on the battery tender. I'm still riding mine daily.. The cam chain noise Ive heard has been intermittent so I'm not too worried about it. If I start hearing it more often I will put it up.
  23. Oh come on... your other ones turned out so good!
