What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?
duhs10 replied to yamaham's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
@Sheridan ... looks good. I might have to find someone to do this for me. I wondered from the beginning why SHAD decided to make the brackets so wide. Overall great system though. -

I figured that is where you cut it... I may do the same thing in the future. Would like to see what it looks like in the pictures when you get a chance. -

Hell Yeah! Well done sir. Can you add some pictures or start a thread to show how you modified the side brackets? I can imagine what you did, but would like to see it. -

@piotrek I will be in that position in a few weeks... ordered my suspension from @pattonme so whenever that arrives I will be out of commission for a few days. I will be sending my ECU off to Vcyclenut at the same time. Also hoping my tires last until then as well. Already ordered replacements but want to wait since I will have them off for the suspension anyway. -

They look like a pretty good quality product.... they better be for $385!!! -
115 mph indicated is where the speed limiter stops my bike from accelerating. Considering that you can hit 115 mph in 4th gear, I would bet that the transmission will get you to the 140-150 mph range top speed. Anybody tried a top speed run without the limiter?

An amazing heart and heartbreak
duhs10 replied to rockinsv's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
I'm glad you guys got to make that trip together. Very sorry to hear about your loss. -
I think these guys are just messing with you bentaero, when I ride the twisties my front tires are gone at around 4,500 max. And when I go cross country with a lot of straight roads my rear is done around 5,000 miles or so running dual compound sport touring tires. And I think building a trailer to save your tires is an excellent idea. Well, I've ridden with you @britelitebob in the mountains... lets just say Im surprised that your tires even last that long . Looking forward to another meetup in the future.

I will be doing something similar in a little over 2 weeks! I hope you are happy with the results. -

@fzkenm I'm going with Forks by Matt's (@pattonme) intermediate fork package, and Norwest's shock rebuild. Forks by Matt can include both in his invoice to you if your interested in that. -

http://i.imgur.com/tXVZBbZ.jpg Fyi.. I plugged it with a regular tar stick and rubber cement plug kit. I am getting upgraded fork cartridges and rebuilt shock in the next few weeks so I will ride it as is and do the suspension and tires all at once. Not really worried about it. No track days in my future. I will just keep an eye on the tire pressure and ride it like normal. -

So the general consensus seems to be "err on the side of caution", ok, cool but that eats up play money vs. the alternative of just riding it out. Observed evidence for me is a plugged tire works just fine, anyone have first-hand experience of a plugged tire failing? I've ridden with plugged tires for thousands of miles without any problems when I was a broke college student... I certainly understand replacing the tire immediately to be safe though. I will be replacing mine because the center of the tire is to the wear bar already so I wouldn't get too much more out of the tires before having to replace anyway. -

Guess I will be ordering some new tires today... http://i.imgur.com/OmKwaKz.jpg Picked this up on the way home from work. I will plug it until the new tires come in. -
For those of you that have done this mod.... what kind of flash did you guys go with? Im going to do this mod in the next few weeks, as well as, send off my ECU to vcyclenut. Not sure to keep with the stock fuel map or have it flashed like a slip on.

SH39, SH48, or Yamaha Top Case??
duhs10 replied to duhs10's topic in FJ-09 Parts and Accessory reviews
I like the looks of this top case, but doesn't seem to be available to purchase from SHAD's website. http://shadusa.com/wp/sh58-cases @Piotrek I also have the sargent seat... I don't think it looks awkward at all (especially when you are sitting on it). Definite improvement over stock. I have the "grippier" Performance Plus cover on mine. -
Exceptional Product Support by:
duhs10 replied to redfjniner's topic in FJ-09 Parts and Accessory reviews
I had an excellent experience with Sargent Cycle Products North America. When I ordered my seat from them, I ordered the regular "World Performance" seat with the CarbonFX cover. When I got it I was pleased with the comfort and look, but when I rode in my textile pants, I found that it was too slick. I called up Sargent with the intentions of paying the difference to get the "Perfomance Plus" cover added (much more grippy) but the fellow I spoke with told me not to worry about it at all and replaced the cover free of charge (front and back). Turn around was a week. I was extremely impressed and will look to use their products in the future for sure. -
Anyone fitted any alternative hand guards
duhs10 replied to mxracer's topic in FJ-09 Parts and Accessory reviews
No. You have to remove the OEM hand guards. I posted some pictures here. -

@piotrek, this is the tape I used. Found it on Amazon... there are lots of colors and widths. I used 1/8 inch. It's easy to use and easy to peel off, and seems to withstand the weather pretty well.. the stripes I put on the faux carbon panels, have been there for 8 months through summer, rain, and now winter.
