  1. Added some new decals... the rim tape was already there and the colors match but the camera flash threw it off.
  2. Rizoma MA009 bars https://fj-09.org/thread/5486/rizoma-ma009-bars
  3. I'll let you know that soon! The bars are not threaded as delivered, but I have an M16 tap on the way, and that should allow me to thread the ends of the bars. I don't plan on putting the stock handguards back on, but I do like running bar end weights. Currently, the Rizomas are sporting the rubber plugs that they ship with. I have the FZ-09 bar ends on mine currently, but I use a set of bark busters during the winter. So i would like to retain the ability to do that.
  4. @chadman I've been interested in these, but I like to use hand guards during the winter. What is in the ends of these bars? Can they be threaded (I assume they are not) to mount the handguards?
  5. Installed my re-valved shock and rear spring tonight as I'm waiting on parts to finish my fork cartridge install. Went off without a hitch thanks to this thread. Only thing I would do differently is remove the lower dog link bolt first because it will give you more access to the lower shock mount bolt.
  6. @ulewz thanks for starting this thread 2 years ago. Your step by step was very helpful. The only thing I would suggest from your original step by step is to remove the lower dog bone link first. This allows you to drop the swing arm enough to access the lower shock mount with sockets. (Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I didn't go through all pages of the thread)
  7. Famous road on the N Carolina and Tennessee border. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deals_Gap,_North_Carolina
  8. I installed an OEM helmet lock. I ordered it from here. You have to put in the individual part numbers and request a quote. They will email you if with a price if the parts are available. Cost was $36 before shipping. You can see pictures and part numbers here if you're interested.. I also installed my flashed ECU that I just got back from vcyclenut. Man its awesome. Noticeably quicker and throttle modes are smooth yet powerful. I think 2WDW and Vcyclenut are the best in the business for FZ/FJ flashes. Can definitely recommend Vcyclenut. He answers emails quickly and turn around was same day he received my ECU.
  9. @pcwizz I can confirm the part numbers. All genuine Yamaha parts so it is literally OEM. You will need: 4R8-21308-01 2SC-2115J-00 90149-06154 The helmet lock comes with its own set of keys, but it looks like you can remove the cylinder and re-key it, so I will get back to you on that. Also, the helmet definitely fits with side cases installed.
  10. Well I ordered one from japan.webike.com ... says I will get it in 5 days and I will let you know how it is. Now I'm wondering if I can key it to my ignition key.
  11. Too bad that type of lock won't work too well for those who use any type of saddlebags. Actually I think it would still work. they attach right behind the passenger peg and I think there would still be room. http://i.imgur.com/cH6V3Ey.jpg
  12. @pcwizz those part numbers on the link I sent appear to be correct. I've never ordered from japan.webike.net, but it looks legit. You can go here https://japan.webike.net/oem_parts/?tld=net , select Yamaha and enter the part numbers to get a free quote on availability and price. Check you PM.
  13. https://tracer900.wordpress.com/2016/07/17/helmet-lock/ https://japan.webike.net/products/20253196.html I found this on the interwebs... I don't know where you can order it from, but its a start.
  14. Took it apart... http://i.imgur.com/T6OVrUm.jpg (Postimage isn't working so I reverted to imgur.)
  15. That organe pin stripe looks GOOD. Thanks! Its just 3M striping tape. You can get it on Amazon in a lot of different colors.
  16. Started the 8000 mile service by installing the Akrapovic exhaust I recently picked up from a fellow forum member. I also changed the oil (Yamaha filter and Yamalube 10W-40). Now I just need to lube all the pivots and do the throttle body sync. Which I plan to do when I get the ECU back. Not going to bother with changing the spark plugs.
  17. Definitely not the case on un-flashed earlier models. Switching to A-Mode has become part of starting the bike for me lol.
  18. @wordsmith I don't know if it worldwide. Most articles on mention Yamaha USA... here is a link someone posted with VIN ranges. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2017/04/08/yamaha-recalls-fj-09-fz-09-xsr900-motorcycles-due-handlebar-issues/
  19. Do you have a SENA? Or, do you know if a SENA can be easily installed on this helmet?
  20. @THETRUCK454 I am anxiously awaiting pictures of the SH58X on the bike. I have been eyeballing that top case for some time now. Also, did it come with the universal mounting plate? And, did you get hit with any additional customs taxes?
  21. @elheffe There are pictures at the beginning of this thread of the actual TSB... also you should order a service manual if you will be doing maintenance yourself. That is all I am willing to contribute as I don't know what you mean by "grey market purchase".
  22. I currently don't have any sliders or cages, but it I were to get some I would go with a @higdonion city cage. You get engine protection and a skid plate. https://fj-09.org/thread/2606/higdonion-cages-hey
  23. @shigeta those are great pictures
  24. My VIN never returned any active recalls either, but I received the notice in the mail today... I doubt the previous owner would make up the fact the he received the recall notice.
