  1. I’ve always used DID. Always got good life from m them. I used an EK once but sold the bike before I put to many miles on the chain. I do like EK’s screw type masterlink.
  2. I didn't remove the tank to run the wiring. I removed the right side panel that likes to crack and ran the wiring along the frame. It's worked fine for two years.
  3. I used a little relay triggered by the tag light to power mine. It came out of a wrecked ford truck in the junkyard. It fits between my he battery and it’s foam spacer.
  4. You can reach over and apply the brake with one hand and torque the nut with the other.
  5. I’ve got the 665 (I thing that’s what it is... or 660). It’s has all those extra wires. I just bundled them together under the seat. They’ve been under there for two years now. No problems.
  6. Yesterday, I rode the Skyway, the dragon, and the southern end of foothills parkway. There was fog so thick I cut off a piece and had a bite. Snow and ice. Rain and lightning. I was all alone on these great roads... except for a guy in a Porsche for a couple of minuets. It. Was. Fantastic. Today I'm going to clean her up and lube the chain. She got rode hard and put up wet and that's the way I like it.
  7. Put some more miles on it. Those are like kilometers but bigger. My Sargent seat is a much better seat than the oem. It will take some time to break in. Heck, the day I got it I took a 600 mile ride. I have 30,000 miles on mine and think it’s my best after market part.
  8. I tried adjusting the ring on the bottom, but no dice. I talked to the Revzilla people, and they're going to try and warranty it for me, which if yours is on straight I'd be pretty happy about that. I really like the size of the bag.I like it. It’s been with me for about 2 years and 20,000 plus miles.
  9. I’ve got that bag. Mine line up straight. You have some adjustment on the bottom. See if the holes in the brackets are straight.
  10. I put an O-ring around my 12v phone charger. It stays firmly in the socket and charges my phone fine.
  11. I washed it. Got dirty riding 129 yesterday. Had the dragon all to myself on a Thursday. In February. At 8 in the morning. Life is good.
  12. How are you able to cruise at 2500rpm in 6th gear? Is that even possible? I think the only time I am at 2500rpm is taking off from a stop in 1st gear. Down a very steep hill maybe?
  13. What, she doesn’t like the weather.......oh crap. Sorry about that.
  14. Did you opt for something fancy (light etc.), or just an OE/equivalent? I got a lithium. It was $14 more than the factory YZT10S. The difference in weight is crazy, but I didn’t buy it for that. If I was worried about weight I would start with losing some of my fat behind. I bought it because it was just a little more and I’ve heard that the lithium last longer. Guess we will see.
  15. My bike is a 15. It was a stock battery. I bought it New in April of 16.
  16. I put in a new battery. Went down to the basement yesterday to start her up and go for a ride on a beautiful January day....it’s been COLD here.... and the stock battery was kaput. Got the new one today from the brown Santa. Just too late to ride. ?
  17. I cleaned the chain, I have to work tomorrow but Wednesday and Thursday will be above freezing so I’m going riding...... that wasn’t to much weather talk was it?
  18. As far as breaking the chain goes, I use a dremel to grind off the heads of a couple of the pins and pop the side plate off with a big flathead screwdriver. Takes a couple of minuets.
  19. It’s no harder than any other bike with a chain. You’ll need a tool to rivet the new master link or one of these http://www.moto-chains.com/site/898528/product/mstr%20-%20screw As far as the abs sensor, unbolt it and move it out of the way. Bolt it back in place when you’re ready.
  20. If those were flush mounts that stuck out so someone coming at you in the daylight could see them, I may do the same, but I'm concerned that my visibility would be reduced with the flush mounts you have installed. I'm more concerned about my life and what I do to potentially cause it to be at risk. People say they don't see motorcycles. Studies show that people don't look for and don't see motorcycles. These flush mounts just increase the possibility of someone not seeing you. Just concerned about someone making changes to their bike that reduce their visual present while making a turn in front of a car. I know you have thought about this and made your decision, but I wanted you to think about it some more, as friendly advise from an old fart with past experience. I’ve had those on my FJ for 2 years. You can see them from the front fine.
  21. My hat off to you bud.. just awesome! What seat do you use... and is the bar raised, or stock? Ergonomics killed my back on my ride.... fixing that now. l have the Sargent. Bars are in the stock position. I do have grip puppies on them.
  22. Truly awesome performance! I found my SS1600k to be a tough ride, and it taught me a thing or two about what I needed to fix on the bike for better long distance experience (I suddenly found McCruise to be good value, for example... and that highway pegs are a must for me). The FJ must fit you like a glove for you to be able to eat miles like that. Congrats! I have the go cruise. Simple and works. I use my engine guards to rest my legs on at times. I also have my tail bag on the passenger seat and can use it for a back rest. I ate granola bars from my tank bag while moving. No meals. I drank water using my camel back. Don't get me wrong though. I've done almost 1900 in th last two days. I'm sucking hind tit right now. I might take it easy tomorrow. Don't have to be back home til the 26th.
  23. David, i find your maths impressive. i started to work it out but gave up, to complicated for me, i'm not that bright. micah, if David's maths is correct, that is indeed impressive, do tell us the full story. All interstate. Left a few hours before sunrise on Sunday morning and unbelievably no slowdowns for traffic or construction. SE TN to Sioux Falls SD. I got the saddlesore and the bun burner today. Went from Sioux Falls and now I'm in Billings. Im going to ride Lolo tomorrow and hopefully make it into Washington.
