  1. We’re not allowed to run coloured lights in the UK. Green is used by medical doctors as their emergency lights.
  2. The same ebay guy does the adjusters in black or gold. I have the black ones and they are great.
  3. I thought you had to take the cover off to make sure the chain didn’t skip a tooth when you replaced the tensioner? It sounds much easier if all you do is swap the tensioners.
  4. looks like new master cylinder for brakes and hydraulic clutch conversion, as well as guards
  5. My '15 had its first ever mandatory inspection today (called an MOT in the UK)......and passed with just an advisory for low tread on the front tyre. We don't have to have them until the vehicle is three years old and then every year thereafter. I know there should have been no problems, but it's always a nervous time.
  6. Fitted EBC HH rear pads. My first mechanical adventure on a motorcycle (not counting farkles or electrics) as I’ve just let dealer/stealers do jobs up ‘til now. I remembered why when I tried to fit the pads backwards ?. The top pin that runs through the pads was corroded, but cleaned up with emery cloth. I bled the rear circuit, tidied up the tools and looked forward to a test ride until the rain started so heavily my neighbour started building a big boat and counting animals in pairs. Ah well, the forecast is better tomorrow...
  7. It may be my ipad @kimmie, but I can't see those pictures.
  8. First decent ride of the season. 110 miles in sunny, but 6 celcius conditions. Still some snow in the road edges in Wales. Heated grips are probably the best farkle I’ve added.
  9. Thanks for the info on constands. I went for the rear stand that has four castors so I can move the bike around really easily in the garage now ??
  10. That’s what Harvey Weinstein said, and look where it got him....?
  11. Try filling it. It could just be the way it sat in the delivery packaging and once it is full it will straighten up?
  12. would you mind taking photos as you swap the shock @koth442 ? I’m thinking to go that way myself.
  13. What are those stands that you have on your bikes @ghostrider1127 ?
  14. If anyone is considering a waterproof roll bag, there are lots of cheaper versions than the Ortlieb version posted above. Any of the ones used by kayakers or other watersports are fully waterproof and work really well. Example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lomo-40L-Dry-Bag-Holdall-Yellow-Waterproof-Duffel-Drybag/261996113074?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
  15. 1 million miles in 1000 days is one thousand miles a day. Must have a robust ass.
  16. I do fully admit to being in jest. And also fully admit that the beak just looks nice, IMHO ?
  17. Addition of a beak smooths non-laminar airflow in the crucial low pressure area under the headlight, resulting in a reduced negative lift-ratio. This reduces head shake under acceleration and increases high speed stability. Vortex disruption from the lateral edges of the beak have the additional benefit of breaking up the leading edge high-pressure areas and this stops the formation of stochastic sound waves, characteristically found in the rotor-tips of helicopters. This reduces induced wind noise resulting in a quieter ride. The final benefit of the beak is that the rider is more relaxed due to a quieter, less turbulent ride and this increases blood flow to the frontal lobe and cerebelleum in the brain, increasing concentration and basal testosterone levels. This has been shown to have a 19.3% increase (within 95% confidence intervals) in attractiveness to the opposite sex and lower service charges at Yamaha dealers due to the recognition of increased riding deity. YMMV
  18. It makes me feel better, so it definitely has a purpose ??
  19. Other comparisons: SH36: side loading, can take a full face helmet. Also, they need this type of end bracket on the 3P mounting system SH23: top loading and cannot take a helmet. Plus, you need to swap to this type of end bracket, which comes with the cases. SH23 mounts on left, SH36 mounts on the right. You have to change these mounts to swap cases unfortunately, but they are only held in by one screw so it's not too big a deal.
  20. Like many on this forum I have a set of SH36 panniers (side cases). I like them as they fit the shape of the bike (IMHO), are waterproof, take a full-faced helmet and the 3P mounting system is easy to use and discrete when the panniers are off. Their only downside is they add considerably to the width of the bike and as lane-splitting and filtering are allowed in the UK, in fact encouraged on Advanced Motorcycling courses, the panniers limit opportunities to make progress. So, when I saw a post on here about the narrower SH23 panniers I found a set for £99 delivered and ordered them. Comparisons then, starting with SH36 These panniers weigh 4kg each and at the widest part across the bike measure 100cm (39 1/4 inches ). For reference I measured the handlebars (with original handguards) at 99cm (39 inches) so the panniers are marginally the widest part of the bike. In comparison, SH23 These weigh only 2kg each and at the widest are 33 1/4 inches or 84cm. So they are about 6 inches or 16cm narrower. And just to show the comparison visually
  21. The metal parts of the 3P mounts stay the same. But, if you look at the right hand side mount for example, at the leftmost upper is a plastic end piece. These have to be changed when you swap between the SH36 and SH23. They are simply an end stop on SH36, but the SH23 actually latch into this part to stop them being removed. I’ll grab some photos tomorrow, but it’s too dark for now outside.
