  1. It's still sitting in a box in my garage. I look at it everytime I walk by. I still think it's a useful idea. I don't think I can make that current box aesthetically pleasing enough. But I haven't totally given up on the idea yet. Maybe there will be more to come on this.
  2. I'm not much of a hooligan but I had to try it in A with the TCS off once. It does come up very quickly. I like that it'll come up a little with the TCS on. That's enough for me. There is a bump in the road in the way to work just after a second gear corner that happens to be in the perfect place for the front end to come up just after the shift into third. That one will carry the front wheel for a long time even with the TCS on. That's fun.
  3. Maybe check out what @superfist did. Looks to be about as close as I'd want to go with the bars. https://www.tracer900.net/topic/200-what-did-you-do-to-your-fj-tracer-gt-today/?do=findComment&comment=85487
  4. Interesting. I've been looking for a new chain lube as I haven't been too happy with the motorex lube I've been using. Think I'll try gear lube for a while.
  5. I've came back and looked at these pictures countless times since you posted this. I think I've decided to pull the trigger and pick one up. I think it's likely the best looking setup I've seen. So my question is how much of the clean air do you contribute to that little variable screen you have on top?
  6. @texscottyd Absolutely, as much as I enjoy commuting I feel the need to get out and stretch it's legs coming on strong 😎
  7. It was such a great feeling after a long days work to walk around the corner and see this waiting to carry me home instead of waiting out by the road for my wife!
  8. Shoei RF 1200 Valkyrie graphic. This is the first helmet I've had that actually fits me. Overall I really like this helmet. But there are a few niggles that I have with it. While it is quiter than my previous helmets without ear plugs, with them in it's louder. I've determined that it's bone conduction, very low frequency drumming. I've tried every ear plug I can and they all have the same result, extremely loud low frequency drumming that wasn't there with my previous helmets. I think it has to do with how the helmet fits tight on my head and the dirty air from the front of the bike transferring the vibrations straight to the bone behind my ears. Even behind the big Givi touring screen, without ear plugs it's basically silent, with ear plugs it's like my head is in a bass drum. This is my first pinlock visor. I love the function, I hate looking through it. Other than that it's a great helmet. Vents well. Hard to fog up even without the pinlock in. And comfortable.
  9. Alpinestars air plus V2 XCR Gore-Tex I'm a year round, all weather commuter. My feet absolutely have to breath. These breath plenty enough for Central Texas Summers and are warm enough for the winter. I have not had any issues with them leaking at all. Extremely happy with them. Highly recommended if you're like me and have to have something breathable.
  10. Happened to me for the first time that I'm aware of this morning. It was about 52° and came on as I was off the throttle coming up to a red light about five minutes into my commute. Stayed on until I gave it a little gas so I could get over to the side of the road. Turned the bike off, checked the oil level, restarted and listened for bad sounds. Light went out and sounded normal. Didn't come back on during the rest of the ride. But did make me ultra paranoid. I did use a lot of moly assembly lube when I put the cams back in. Maybe I should do an oil change.
  11. Sounds like a terrific trip! The wife and kid and I were there yesterday. Got absolutely soaked in the torrential downpour in the morning. But the sun came out and the wind picked up and we dried out in time for qualifying. So Marquez finally couldn't do it huh? I thought he was unstoppable here. I'll have to see if I can find some highlights of the race somewhere. Have a great rest of your trip!
  12. After seven months, today I have a running motorcycle! Fixed the valve clearance, set the cam timing and synced the throttle bodies. A quick ten Mile test ride confirmed she's good to go. Super stoked!
  13. Planned to finish up the valve adjustment and maybe get to the throttle body sync. However I decided to get strep instead so I'm sitting on the couch being miserable.
  14. I added a layer of 3/8" rebond foam. (Carpet pad) in between the seat pan and the original foam. The factory cover had plenty of stretch to go back over. Completely eliminated any complaints I had and you'd have to have a stock one sitting right beside it to really tell. It does sit you up a little higher but I've got long legs so it's not an issue for me. Edit to add a picture.
  15. Sorry to hear. Sounds like you're in a real bind. What a lousy diagnosis... could they be any less descriptive? I'm sure they could have found the issue if I could afford their time to properly diagnose it. It started fine for me before I loaded up on the trailer to take it to them. I had convinced myself at that point that it was just the CCT bring noisy, which I assumed would quickly be replaced do to the TSB or whatever is out for them. So my heart sank when they called and reported that. Actually the first guy only said "the bike won't start, it'll be another $98 to do a compression test and pull the valve cover" when I called back I got a different guy that at least explained that it was turning over just not firing. I understand shop time and they gotta eat too but from my perspective they are charging me a hundred dollars to hit the starter button and say that it won't start. I'd love to be able to just say fix it because I really don't want to deal with it myself. I'm just going to have to do that though. It's not that I'm not capable of diagnosing and repairing it myself, I certainly am. I just would rather not have to. Depending on what I find when I get it home and start tearing into it may mean that it's going to be down for an extended period of time to be able to afford to replace whatever may be damaged. I'm more mad at myself for being in this position in the first place. Anyway that's enough bitching from me in this thread. This is supposed to be a positive thread. I'm just mad and sad.
  16. Cheating whore. She run off with a Suzuki? Report from the dealer service department is "will not start, engine spins over quickly with little to no resistance while making some grinding noises". It's my only transportation besides a bicycle and I do not have the money to fix it. I was hoping against hope that the noise I was heard was the CCT going bad, but it appears that not the case. I'm just gutted.
  17. That's funny. I took off my factory screen and put the Givi on. Even though it's been well over 100 the wind noise and buffeting have been more of an issue for me than some sweat. I still get buffeting but so much less noise. I just absolutely hate how the thing looks.
  18. Picked up a new helmet that is excellent in clean air. It's really worlds apart from the old helmet. Going to try some different things but I will likely go back to the short screen.
  19. Adjusted the chain again. Changed the oil and replaced the spark plugs. Still on the list to do is sync the throttle bodies, check the steering head bearings and swing arm pivot. It's too hot in the garage to tackle that today.
  20. I had it happen twice when the bike was new. Hasn't happened in the last two years. I probably just jinxed myself...
  21. That's a very good looking setup. Are you using the stock mounts?
