  1. Thanks for the route. I mapped it out and it adds about 3 hours and 180k's. I agree the route does look nice though so I consider it. Beats slabbing it all the way there and back.......does this look right according to what google plotted for me? 508 to Calabogie/41-28 to Bancroft/ 118-21 to Minden/35-45-44 to Orillia sorry I couldn't copy the map to the thread
  2. I’m planning on leaving Montreal early June to visit the HMCS Haida war museum that my father spent time on during WW2. Other then the thousand islands park I’m at a lost about any decent routes to try to hit on my way. Any suggestions would be appreciated cheers Norm
  3. I tried turning the knob while in front of my garage door and stopped after turning it half a dozen times without noticing a difference. I'll give it go one more time....
  4. Not sure if its me but I tried adjusting the headlight on the left side and after turning the adjuster knob several turns didn't notice any level changes in the beam. Does it take more then 4 or 5 turns to lower or raise the level?
  5. A guy I met driving an Aprilia had his warranty claim refused on a "knocking" engine because he was using a K&N filter. Cost him $3,500 for the engine work
  6. In Quebec we can't opt out of no-fault, in fact if I still owned my Ninja 900 I'd be paying $2,200 for my plates because it falls in the hi-risk motorcycle category. Full coverage insurance for a superbike is almost unattainable in quebec. Not many companies want to take the policy and those that do charge you stupid money. Imagine paying 3-4,000$ before you even start your bike in the spring.....
  7. Full (replacement) insurance coverage for my ‘19 GT was quoted at $200 but after they ran my license it went up to 240$🙄 In Quebec it’s our motorcycle registration that is ridiculous because we have No Fault accident coverage that covers personal injury care. You can’t sue the other driver if they are responsible. It’s going to creep up to $800 this year 😡
  8. From what I researched about scorpion slip-ons the cat converter is cut off just after the sensor. Its a very nice exhaust imo (don't have one....YET)
  9. Hi there, My brother and I have been talking about our bucket lists and we both agree the Isle of Man TT is our number one race to witness. Since I’m in Canada I’d like some feedback from anyone that’s actually been there. Ultimately I’d love to go over and have a bike to have a true experience but that would be depending on logistics. I heard getting to the island can be a test in itself. My plan is to go in the next two years or so, depending on travel restrictions. Are accommodations difficult to reserve? Any suggestions on places? Have a lot of questions but any suggestions or tips would be helpful. cheers Norm
  10. My first ride with my dad was in 1982 when I bought my new rd350lc. We left Montreal for Vancouver, B.C. on his Harley and my rd350. Near the end of life he reminded me of that first ride as one of the hi-lights of his biking life. We were fortunate to have a couple repeat trips later on but that first trip was memorable. He was fortunate to have 3 sons and 2 daughters ride....
  11. I am looking at purchasing a scorpion slip-on and am wanting a second header to sacrifice as I don't want to cut my original pipe. My research found a mint MT09 system same year. Does anyone here know if the headers (up to the exhaust sensor) are the same on both bikes?
  12. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I went thru the manual a while ago but missed that point👍
  13. I'm tinkering with the idea of purchasing a Scorpion slip-on and rather not cut my exhaust to fit one so I am looking for a 2nd exhaust. I'm in Quebec, Canada so that adds some cost limitations regarding shipping but if its in the USA I can pick it up at the border at freeport shipping. So, if anyone has an exhaust collecting dust let me know and maybe we can strike a deal
  14. Before I put away my two bikes for the winter I brought them out of the garage and started them up. One thing or another got in the way and it was a good 20 minutes before I got back to them. As I was nearing them the tracer cut out. I was surprised because I had enough gas and only could see that as a reason for it to stop running. I restarted it with out any hesitation. My question is, do our bikes have an auto shutdown programmed to avoid unnecessary overheating or such? Never heard of anything like that so it be a first for me
  15. I added a set of bar ends I had hanging around from my FZ1 gen1 that fit perfectly with no modifications to the actual handlebars. I had to remove the hand guards to fit but the bar ends made a huge difference IMO to dampen the buzz.
  16. I personally checked the steering head bearings 10 times in the first two weeks that I owned the bike because it was driving me nuts. I once had a bad experience on a bike with bad head bearings and am seriously paranoid since. I've come to the conclusion its the forks/springs character and just drive it.
  17. I had a sergeant seat on my FZ1 that I had to send back because the seat base cracked where the bumpers were also. Cost me more then $150 cdn in shipping but work was done on warranty. Less then two seasons later the base cracked again. IMO super cheap quality used for their bases. Sold the bike so didn’t bother making a big deal about it.
  18. Very happy with this kit. Makes the slope almost unnoticeable 👍
  19. It occurred on my FZ1. But my FZ had over 80,000kms on her when it starting giving me that problem. There was a faulty wire that was shorting occasionally and cutting the motors revs. It was like the bike was stalling. Took the switch off and had it repaired. No more problems. It might be something else but have that checked. At least yours is still on warranty
  20. First time I heard this coming up....do you have any links talking about this? Its probably the ignition switch by the way
  21. I will let you know if I agree with your assessment after I get them. I've been putting off getting some reusable plugs for years and gave up on the foam type that I never stop playing with while riding
  22. The Yamaha Rack and Topbox sit over the tail light and leave room to spare for the passenger IMO
  23. I just ordered this kit. Part #: MCY-OILCH-KT-21
