Garz747
Whenever I'm approaching a speed warning sign with a digital readout my 19 Tracer is always showing 5 to 6 kms more than the speed posted. Is this common with others?
OldBikers
Yep, my 2021 T9GT is 2mph above the radar digital display and GPS speed on the Zumo XT. At least that's better than the 2012 FZ-01 which was 8mph off at 70 mph.

Exactly the same for me as well, 2mph difference from my GPS. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
Supporting Member knyte Posted October 30, 2022 Supporting Member Share Posted October 30, 2022 I picked up aftermarket ABS rings to correct that, and it's deadly accurate now. Vcyclenut doesn't list them any longer. You could always contact them anyway; never hurts to ask. 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / VStream touring windshield / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount
bwringer
Is this your first bike? This is common to every motorcycle ever made. The FJ/Tracer is actually not nearly as bad as most. Reading 5-6 kph over actual speed is pretty darn good. Quite a few bikes have speedos that read more like 8-11% high. As I understand it, the speedo can be recalibrated as part of an ECU reflash. This may only apply to earlier models, and may or may not be available in other countries.
Garz747
No- this is my fourth bike. Just seems more off than Honda products.
peteinpa
I haven't checked yet but my newly aquired 750 Nighthawk feels to me like it's reading higher then "normal".
Ride365
My 20GT is the most accurate speedo I've ever owned, only 1 mph off per my GPS over 50 MPH.
PhotoAl
My Tracer is off 1 to 2 mph at around 70mph. My 2014 Kawasaki ZX6R was off about 7MPH at 70 but my 2012 CBR600RR was only off maybe 1 MPH at 70. My 2016 BMW F800GT was off maybe 3 or 4 MPH at 70. Denideul
My 2019 GT is also 8 % off. If you need modified ABS rings, you can find some on this site
