The First line oil filter is made by Rocky Mountain ATV and I have been using them over a year. No probs, good quality and the internals look even better than stock. Oil Filter fits FZ09 , FJ-09, MT 09 and MT 09 Tracer and MT 09 Tracer GT

You may consider it a stupid question but over 60 years of cars, trucks and motorcycles, especially in the 50 years working on the latter, i have learned the hard way that not all filters are equal in this regard. These do appear well formed for the correct oil filter removal wrench. Not all are.

@Cruizin
both the CP2 and CP3 engines use the same KN-204 oil filter
that is my preferred filter, especially if hot pipes restrict access for removal.

The nut on the end is worth its weight in gold.

The nut on the end is a huge failure point. They have been banned by most if not all trackday and racing organizations due to multiple failures over the past year or so. Some of the failures have been New filters that are not covered by the recent recall. I won't put another one on any of my bikes.

I don’t do track days. I’ve used them on cars, trucks and bikes for years and never had a problem. I’ll look into the issue though, thanks for the info.

if it's so tight you need to use the nut, it's on too tight.

I don’t put them on that tight. It is quicker for me to grab a 17mm and loosen the filter than to use the strap wrench. I also burn myself on the header less.

Cup wrench works fine on filters I install. Only time not -- when new or when prior owner used a dealer.

I will use just about any brand that's popular because after 40 years of doing this there's no data showing that doesn't work. Looking at the internals tells you zero about the filter IME.

The K&N failures, and other aftermarket failures (K&N doesn't make their own motorcycle filters) I've read of, were all sealing gasket failures not related to the nut. EG:

The K&Ns were convenient for me not for spinning the nut but because of the safety wiring hole for my track bikes. However, that's easy to handle with a worm drive clamp.
