  1. How are you able to cruise at 2500rpm in 6th gear? Is that even possible? I think the only time I am at 2500rpm is taking off from a stop in 1st gear. Down a very steep hill maybe?
  2. What, she doesn’t like the weather.......oh crap. Sorry about that.
  3. Did you opt for something fancy (light etc.), or just an OE/equivalent? I got a lithium. It was $14 more than the factory YZT10S. The difference in weight is crazy, but I didn’t buy it for that. If I was worried about weight I would start with losing some of my fat behind. I bought it because it was just a little more and I’ve heard that the lithium last longer. Guess we will see.
  4. My bike is a 15. It was a stock battery. I bought it New in April of 16.
  5. I put in a new battery. Went down to the basement yesterday to start her up and go for a ride on a beautiful January day....it’s been COLD here.... and the stock battery was kaput. Got the new one today from the brown Santa. Just too late to ride. ?
  6. I cleaned the chain, I have to work tomorrow but Wednesday and Thursday will be above freezing so I’m going riding...... that wasn’t to much weather talk was it?
  7. As far as breaking the chain goes, I use a dremel to grind off the heads of a couple of the pins and pop the side plate off with a big flathead screwdriver. Takes a couple of minuets.
  8. It’s no harder than any other bike with a chain. You’ll need a tool to rivet the new master link or one of these http://www.moto-chains.com/site/898528/product/mstr%20-%20screw As far as the abs sensor, unbolt it and move it out of the way. Bolt it back in place when you’re ready.
  9. If those were flush mounts that stuck out so someone coming at you in the daylight could see them, I may do the same, but I'm concerned that my visibility would be reduced with the flush mounts you have installed. I'm more concerned about my life and what I do to potentially cause it to be at risk. People say they don't see motorcycles. Studies show that people don't look for and don't see motorcycles. These flush mounts just increase the possibility of someone not seeing you. Just concerned about someone making changes to their bike that reduce their visual present while making a turn in front of a car. I know you have thought about this and made your decision, but I wanted you to think about it some more, as friendly advise from an old fart with past experience. I’ve had those on my FJ for 2 years. You can see them from the front fine.
  10. My hat off to you bud.. just awesome! What seat do you use... and is the bar raised, or stock? Ergonomics killed my back on my ride.... fixing that now. l have the Sargent. Bars are in the stock position. I do have grip puppies on them.
  11. Truly awesome performance! I found my SS1600k to be a tough ride, and it taught me a thing or two about what I needed to fix on the bike for better long distance experience (I suddenly found McCruise to be good value, for example... and that highway pegs are a must for me). The FJ must fit you like a glove for you to be able to eat miles like that. Congrats! I have the go cruise. Simple and works. I use my engine guards to rest my legs on at times. I also have my tail bag on the passenger seat and can use it for a back rest. I ate granola bars from my tank bag while moving. No meals. I drank water using my camel back. Don't get me wrong though. I've done almost 1900 in th last two days. I'm sucking hind tit right now. I might take it easy tomorrow. Don't have to be back home til the 26th.
  12. David, i find your maths impressive. i started to work it out but gave up, to complicated for me, i'm not that bright. micah, if David's maths is correct, that is indeed impressive, do tell us the full story. All interstate. Left a few hours before sunrise on Sunday morning and unbelievably no slowdowns for traffic or construction. SE TN to Sioux Falls SD. I got the saddlesore and the bun burner today. Went from Sioux Falls and now I'm in Billings. Im going to ride Lolo tomorrow and hopefully make it into Washington.
  13. Almost 24k miles. I had the panels crack. That's it. I just finished changing the oil a few minuets ago and will be heading out on a 7k mile trip Sunday.
  14. 23500. I'll be over 30 by the end of August.
  15. Ahh man.. that would have been cool to run into another FJ.. we met up at Suches, rode blood mountain, then across wolf pen gap, then up to Blue Ridge. We saw a FZ while we were out but no FJs. We were riding from about 12:30 - 3:30 or so.. did you get rained on? We must have just missed each other. Yep I got rained on. I live in Ocoee Tn right and it absolutely poured on me for about 10 miles going around Ellijay.
  16. Yea... almost same kit as the -09 motor but diffrent airbox and charge pipe... same HP numbers tho ? ...okay 195hp vs 200hp... but still ? I had no idea such a thing existed.
  17. found it cheaper https://www.yocracing.com/accessory_store/store/yoc_viewitem.asp?idproduct=1966832
  18. Trust me from experience. Put the old factory tensioner back in. Yamaha will use any excuse it can to deny a warranty claim.
  19. Unfortunately I don't think you'll find much better practices from other mfgs. Suzuki had auto cct problems on some models very similar to what's been laid out here. They sorted it sooner or later (rev 4 I think). Those of us that went before never even got an SB. My month old Kawasaki had to have a new crank. The bill was astronomical yet the dealer got it approved in less than one day. No recall or SB. The service mgr just winked when I asked if he ever had an amount that large approved so quickly for something that wasn't expected or known to the mfg. The SuperDuke needed warranty work as well. All of the above are in the last ten years. That's after many years of never having any warranty work. I am just blown away that they wouldn't perform $35 (according to my dealer) in warrantee work on a 3 month old motorcycle.
