  1. Same as @Ride365 - No vehicle safety inspection necessary in Washington.
  2. Improved suspension is a beautiful thing! 😎 I am not familiar with the adjustment options on the Niken, does it have adjustable compression and rebound? Is it one adjustment per side like compression on left and rebound on right? With 4 fork legs it has to be much more complex to set up than a conventional bike, does it have 4 springs? Years ago on my older FZ1 I started off my suspension improvement journey with Hyperpro springs and they were a definite improvement, the front end brake dive was almost gone completely.
  3. Is that your first time getting to the ECU/airbox? First time is a real bitch but once you know the drill its simple thereafter and can be done in a few minutes. Kudos to whoever designs modern bikes though, everything fits together perfectly like a puzzle. That's a very scary situation with the missing nut and loose linkage, had the bolt backed out while riding... 😳 Glad you are ok.
  4. You could try Colorite Motorcycle Paints In the US we did NOT get the matte blue Tracer but you might try searching for 2018 and 2019 Phantom Blue FJR1300.
  5. They have some great routes listed, I have ridden a lot of those roads, you should have a GREAT time. πŸ‘πŸ»
  6. I don't know of any group rides or plan on any rally's but in the region around Canyonville there is a LOT of good riding, especially since you will be so close to Northern California. Are you familiar with Oregon where the rally will be held? I spend a good portion of my riding time each year in Oregon, if you have any questions feel free to ask. End of May/early June I will be on a week long trip in California and a few weeks later my brother and I are going on another 5-6 day loop through Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon.
  7. I only use the side bags a few times a year when n a road trip and simply use a bag liner to hold my clothes.
  8. This was recently discussed in another Corbin topic. I have a Corbin on my VFR and it did the same thing, the metal bracket needs to extend about 2mm longer to catch the seat latch, simple fix is to unscrew the bracket on the seat and put a washer on each side between the seat pan and the bracket extending the bracket just long enough to catch effortlessly. My description might not be 100% coherent but once you look at it, its common sense.
  9. That bent brake pedal should be a relatively easy fix, you might not get it 100% perfect but should be able to get it very close.
  10. On the MCCruise you don't solder wires but you connect wires inline to the ECU plug connector, as well as the brake light and ignition coil. I'm definitely NOT an expert but the method of installing both brands of CC should be very similar, the main change to the ECU flash is a different fuel map and removing ignition restrictions.
  11. I agree, I don't think $17K is out of line for what the GT+ offers, its still $2k cheaper than the Versys 1000 SE LT+ yet offers more features and MUCH cheaper than the comparable BMW or Ducati. I also don't get the argument for 150-160hp, at least for me- I can't use the 110-115hp that the FJ/Tracer offers, even riding like an idiot in the twisties running it into the upper rev range, I have never once used the bike to its full potential. My 2 main dislikes for the '21 and '22 model are the small dual TFT screens and the menu thumb wheel, it looks like those were greatly improved in addition to adding a lot of electronic upgrades. I'm excited to see the new model.
  12. That looks like an early control switch for the MCCruise. Remove the seats and look, usually the control unit is mounted in the tray behind the battery and should have a logo or sticker on it, post a picture so we can help. I don't have Ivan's flash but I do use the MCCruise CC with a different flash (2WDW) and there is no issue whatsoever, they play nicely together, I'm sure others here also have vcyclenut flash and MCCruise.
  13. Extra points for uniqueness,πŸ‘πŸ» I believe you have a one of a kind with that color. With the black on the rest of the bike as a contrast and the yellow broken up into smaller parts front and back, it actually doesn't look that bad.
  14. If you want to keep your wiring intact you can just quickly connect it with a Posi-Tap
  15. It sounds pretty technologically impressive. I'm very curious to read some in-depth reviews on the European release 2023 model when it hits the streets. The first sentence of the article you posted has a link to a more comprehensive explanation of the ACC, Unified Braking and radar assist QS features. https://www.motorcycle.com/new-model-preview/2023-yamaha-tracer-9-gt-and-tracer-9-gt-first-look.html
  16. I agree, additional lighting is a great idea. I almost pulled out in front of a new Tracer awhile back, the front headlights are very small. Luckily I was able to jam on my brakes at the last moment.
  17. I wouldn't call it a gripe but agree it is worth mentioning and something any new owner should be aware of. After running a few tanks of fuel through the bike you will begin to see a trend based on the trip meter for when the fuel light starts to flash (assuming that you reset one of the trip counters with each fill up) I know based on my normal riding habits that I "usually" should start looking for fuel around 170-180 miles when it switches to F-trip and then can comfortably ride another 20-25 miles before absolutely NEEDING fuel.
  18. The tread depth wear indicators are molded into the tire tread. I usually replace tires based on degraded handling, (flat or out of round profile) before running them to the wear bars. I can’t say that I have ever measured tread depth.
  19. That was my reason for the initial interest as well, the 1st generation FJ09 was definitely -in my opinion- rushed to market on the success of the FZ09 and the front area was completely unfinished.
  20. When I first got my FJ I had an interest in the Puig fairing extensions but due to their price there was never any feedback here on whether they made a difference in wind flow. I'd be curious to hear your experience once the weather warms up.
  21. I have used nothing but Superlite sprockets on my bikes and they wear like iron, once the chain is toast you will have to look very closely to notice any wear, you can easily use 2 chains per sprocket set, some will obviously disagree with that way of thinking though.
  22. Thank you for your service. I also served on aircraft carriers working on the flight deck, combined 6 deployments on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Nimitz. I spent a good portion of my younger days in the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.
  23. I have no idea how or if it works, I would assume by its name that it boosts the octane a few points?? its been sold in auto parts stores for many decades. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
  24. A buddy and I were on a road trip and getting gas in a remote location. The gas station attendant saw we were on bikes and apologized for only having 87 regular (he just assumed that all motorcycles required 91 premium). He came out with a bottle of octane booster and put a cap full in each of our gas tanks... πŸ˜„
  25. Thanks for the links, the PNW Grand Tour was the one I was looking for. What an amazing way to discover our region and some of our great motorcycle roads. πŸ‘πŸ» 30mpg on the MT10 is brutal, 35mpg is arguably better but still... looks like you have worked out a great solution for decent range. Interestingly, I find Yamaha's onboard computer to be very optimistic, I ran a full tank of fuel yesterday and the dash said 46.8mpg average but real world calculations were an even 42mpg, my fuel light was flashing at 165 miles, whereas my Honda VFR is dead-nuts accurate, the computer reads 40mpg and my calculations also read 40mpg. Same with the speedometer, when comparing to my GPS, the Yamaha has always been 2 mph difference while the Honda is right on. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
