  1. What a difference a week makes. 😡 GRRR! It's been raining and heavy fog now for 24 hours. High of 50F. Forecast is not good either! I HATE the end of riding season! Oh well, pull it in the basement for farkle and maintenance season.
  2. Sounds good. Go for it! EDIT: Too funny, My Cruze is rated /approved for half a ton towing.🤣🤣
  3. Ewww, sounds like an unwanted move to Florida. Edit: I don't know, if my wife all of the sudden said let's move to Florida I'd say well, it's been a good 30 yr run. I can't go to a flat state. I'd miss the mountains of PA.
  4. Sweet setup! I tow a trailer with a Chevy Cruze, I think a Vette can handle it. I "think" it has enough HP. Edit: So the owners manual says no towing? What is the trailer hitch bolted to? Vettes are alluminum and fiberglass.
  5. Do all Fj's and Tracers come with the same chain as OEM? Mine is a DID chain, at 3 k miles its perfect yet.
  6. I'm just a sucker for tires that are $95 for a rear and $68 for a front. If I can't get those prices I'd have Michelins on. I've ran Shinkos on previous bikes no problems, good mileage. FZ-07 had front and rear Shinko Ravens when I traded it. I was double dark on my ST1300 when I traded it. Sick of burning rear tires at 4-5k miles. It IS the way to go with big bikes. Back to blowing off rear tires on the FJ at 5k miles. I'm fine with the OEM tires on the FJ, could always use more mileage. I've got a front and rear Thailand Dunlop Roadsmart 2 waiting to mount next year. Couldn't pass up the price. hope they aren't a mistake. Noticed the 180 series out of stock for a while, wonder what's going on with that?
  7. It's a half joke. It is in the manual to not fuel seated on the bike.
  8. So the hole DID help today at fill up. I could see the air coming out. I might put in 1 more hole 180 degrees from the other. From my previous fill where I s l o w l y squeezed more in, I went 198 miles till the fuel gauge started flashing. It's worth it. That was not from good MPG. I ran 20 miles on reserve and put 4.462 gallons in.
  9. Every ride I take, they keep giving us these 77F days.
  10. Naughty, naughty staying on bike for fill up. That is a direct violation! Done. Starting with 1 hole, filling tomorrow. I removed the cap and ring assembly for a better angle.
  11. I did a search here and found nada. thanks guys, I'll give it a try.
  12. I always fill on center stand. Will 1 hole do it? If so which direction? I'm going to remove the fuel cap and ring for more clearance.
  13. Yeah, it was a non issue on the ST 1300. 7.7 gallons to play with, I do miss that. Don't miss the weight though. I'd use my ST as a fueling tanker, fill it with E0, ride home, and siphon 5 gallons out for my small engines. Using my slow fill I don't get my fuel warning till 180 or more miles. What technique did you use to punch your holes?
  14. Great, did you do it to your Tracer GT? Can you give a short tutorial on the actual punching with location, size, how many, etc.?
  15. Heard of this awhile ago, now thinking of doing it. This comes up every time here when you can't get the amount of fuel into the tank you should. IF you take your time, have a pump that can fill slowly, Cali. with your evap. tube forget it, Nobody waiting on your pump, etc. Fill past the bottom holes to the lip of the tank and it will drop down. it will do this MANY times. This will get you 1/2 US gallon more in the tank. If you typically fill till the pump shuts off with the nozzle deep in the tank, and don't keep squeezing more in, you are probably missing a gallon of capacity. This answers all the questions of "I ran out of gas and only put in 4 gallons." Now onto the mod. Do a search and it's been done on many types and makes of bikes. You need to make a punch hole high up in the filler neck to let this trapped air out to completely fill with gas. The FZ-09 guys know about and some have done it. Then you can fill all the way with out the long wait. Don't fill this way or do the mod and then park the bike. If you fuel up and ride 10 or more miles it's fine. Still deciding if I want to punch a hole or not. Feel free to comment.
  16. Silver top and bottom for me too, looks sharp. Other way is too much silver. Never assess color under fluorescent lighting.
  17. Salt trucks are the end for me also. Can't have salt eating my baby, hard enough to keep balls of aluminum nice. Keep that white stuff with ya...For the rest of us. Don't let it come east.🌨️
  18. One google search later...I didn't find any covered bridges, might be a USA thing, but you have some awesome old stone bridges.
  19. Sad that Minn. has only one covered bridge. We have 200 in PA. I used to live in Minn. as a kid, great fishing! but tons of mosquitos at dark.
  20. I'm going to say that my FJ-09 shifts better then both my previous FZ-07 10k miles, and my ST1300 63k miles. My FJ is only at 2800 miles but everything has been getting better, the more miles it gets on it. Including the shifting. I have Castrol Actevo 10-40 oil in it, seems to love it. It's an affordable MC specific oil. depending on how stiff your riding boots are you might be having trouble running your ankle through the required arc needed to shift smoothly. Definitely loosen the locknuts on the external shift shaft and play with the shifter height.
