  1. My 2017 has this problem in 6th gear only and not right away but I notice it after I've been out for a while the 6 is gone. Its still a gear indicator, when there's a blank in the dash, I'm in 6th.
  2. There's none close to me either. Seems they're only in WI? Been to WI twice to go riding the alphabet roads and around Galesburg IL and Dubuque IA. Better than what I have here in northern IN but not worth my time to go through Chicago to go there again. Bon Appetit!
  3. I ain't doing this riding thing for the food. It's a necessary evil taking time to eat and subtracts from riding time.
  4. I know what you mean about not knowing what you're missing, if anything. I rode for years with mostly the same set of friends and we all thrashed our Goldwings down in the mountains. Most of their bikes had upgraded suspension ( Traxxion Dynamics ) and for years they hounded me about upgrading my bike too. I wondered why I needed it as being a Flatlander I was mostly keeping up with them. Finally I found a super deal on a refreshed set of forks and bought them and put them on and it certainly made a difference right from the first ride out my driveway. But, after a few rides it seemed like it used to. It was the new normal and I felt like I'd thrown away my money. I let a friend ride my Wing once and he noticed right away that it felt better than his did. Having grown up riding around with clapped out bikes I just learned how to ride with what I have.
  5. Sunny day, riding a motorcycle, and convenience store food. What could be better?
  6. That's funny. I'll probably keep referring to my FJ09 even though I have a goo.
  7. Getting my new Tracer next week. I guess I'm going to try to use the Dunlops that came on the bike. I have a spare set of wheels with new S22s on them so if the Dunnies are as bad as I recall, my trip south won't be wasted.
  8. Only sporting riding and only S22s for me. Alas, all that fun and they're spent in under 2K. Gotta pay to play.
  9. You still have more curves than I have I bet.
  10. Had a ball and have some news too. Traded my FJ in on a 2019 Tracer. That's right, I got a Goo. Probably should have gotten the GT but this is almost exactly what I had and that was good enough. I would have been on the FJ in the photo if not for me bringing a few things to help with the brake bleeding. So naturally I took the pack mule.
  11. I keep looking at the stock shock and then the aftermarket shock and they are built backwards from each other, are they not? I know damped hydraulic shocks should work the same from either direction but it seems odd that it's the opposite of the stock shock.
  12. Could you please tell me the brand and why you chose this tire? Mileage, price, traction, feel?
  13. But I couldn't get to the air filter that way. Good to know though.
  14. Cool. I didn't know that the rad hoses were going to stop further openings. I might just go in under the tank anyway to reoil the K and N.
  15. Good to know that you don't have to take the tank off. Thanks so much for that tip. Instead of putting a towel on the fender, it's pretty easy to take off and it would gain you another inch or so of room. I love this forum.
  16. Which is why I haven't gotten rid of my pumpkin signals. Save your money for gas and tires is my thinking.
  17. Not this month so far. Most winters I'd agree with you but usually no riding December, January, and February.
  18. I've had my Aerostich one piece Roadcrafter since 1993! It keeps you dry if you remember to close the front flaps good. I also have a two piece Darien set that I like for the convenience but I'd rather go with the one pc. It has a messed up zipper now and so the Darien gets all the work now. Most of my friends are all Klim'ed up and that's probably the way I would go now. But back in 1993, there wasn't Klim gear or good BMW gear.
  19. I live in the upper midwest so we don't get all the rain but we get snow and ice. A wise old man I know once told me that there aren't bad weather days, just bad gear days. He lives in GA so he doesn't have snow but I agree, you can ride in rain if you're dressed for it. And I do.
  20. I've been lucky enough to go to Europe for one week with the Motorcyclist magazine Alps Challenge tour. It was great fun but like has been pointed out here many times, there's a bunch of roads around here to ride that are damn good too. I disagree with the Natchez Trace Parkway being a good road to ride. I think I'd rather take a beating than ride that again. There's lots of good roads in the Smokies that don't involve flying across the pond.
  21. You need this non ethanol gas for your snowblowers, mowers, chain saws, etc. I don't add stabilizer when I use the good gas. No problems, ever. Usually start first pull on the starter rope.
  22. Why so early on the valves? And who in their right minds takes the plugs out and cleans them in 4K miles?
  23. May I ask why you went with the T31 instead of the S22 Bridgestones? Just curious.
  24. Hundred percent agree with you, dirt bike is the way to go on the trails. I've raced MX, done some local enduros, but I was on a group ride with some guys and I didn't have a GPS yet, so I had to follow. I go there to ride asphalt is what I should have said.
