  1. Changed to a K&N filter when I changed plugs at 9K. Had to buy a hose clamp remover for the clamps that are not accessable with a regular hose pliers. Definitely helped watching a YouTube vid.
  2. That's a great morning all right. But, then you went to work.
  3. Test rode a first gen V-Max once. I'd never have one. After accelerating hard often, that's all you have. I couldn't wait to get it back to the dealer.
  4. I rode the full size Tenere on that same day. Would never buy one of them. Also rode the MT10 and that is a premium ticket ride for sure. Interestingly, all three bikes I rode had clutchless shifting and I still think I'm okay without it. With my 2017 model, I could upgrade but I won't be doing that. Do love the slipper clutch on downshifts though.
  5. Loved it when I rode one last year. Too expensive for me.
  6. Reconsider the separate bedrooms dilemma. Wife and I both agree we sleep better alone. Plus, she lets me take multiple trips on the bikes. And I'm retired. And I have an FJ. I've got it all.
  7. Love my Bridgestone S22'S. I've never gotten 2000 miles out of a set yet but then the FJ is just for my mountain bike. Often a ride might end a bit early because someone or all of us are out of tire. But I just truck it home anyway.
  8. Me too. Love the Cherohala and even the Dragon. But there is a plethora of great roads, and like no cops.
  9. That's about what I do. I have a Goldwing also and when I was working I'd grocery shop on the way home. I had people wait to pull away because they were just sure it wouldn't all fit.
  10. My second bike ever was a Triumph 500 Trophy or Tiger, I forget which, back in the '60s. It almost never made it back home after I took it out. Swore I'd never own another Trumpet. But, in 2018 I bought a 2015 Trophy SE 3 cylinder. Nice enough bike but I only bought it because it was so cheap. I was looking for something lighter than my Wing. But it wasn't much lighter to be honest. So I traded it in on the FJ. Greatest decision ever. It's half the weight of my Wing and has the same hp. Yee haw!
  11. Take the bike to KY, just below IL. My problem is that my edges wear out and I have a bunch of rubber left in the middle.
  12. Have had a Roadcrafter one piece since 1993. Love the looks like rain, keep on riding aspect of it as much as anything. I have a two piece Darien I bought off my buddy when he got out of riding ( who does that? ) I had a Bestaff Trialsmaster for over 25 years too that I used mostly to ride to work almost every day, except in accumulated snow. I have a Joe Rocket jacket too and a pair of mesh jackets. And I have two bikes and lots of helmets and gloves. My friends can't use the excuse that they don't have a bike or gear because I have it already. More fun riding with the friends that I know can ride well.
  13. So the T31 is what, better, cheaper, more available or what exactly. Just trying to learn.
  14. Does anyone here run the Bridgestone S21 or now the S22's? I love them. My bike is all but about 10 percent ridden on the curvy roads where I haul it here and then ride till I'm out of tire. Five or six days of this and nothing but this, rain or shine, and it's pack it up and go home. I can still run around home for a little bit until it's time to lever on some new shoes. I got two sets shipped free just last week for under $400.00 after rebate I think it was. Rocky Mountain ATV. There are probably some tires that give you more mileage but I don't know if you'll find a stickier tire. The original Dunnies came off at less than a thousand miles, not because they were worn out but because they sucked.
  15. Rode yesterday, snow like this this morning. The good thing is it melts really fast.
  16. Twelve sets of tires and those relatively few miles. That's about my mileage too. You must be having as much fun as I am.
  17. Aerostich all the way for me. Had my one piece Roadcrafter since 1993. Still the best accessory I've ever gotten for myself. Definitely increases your mileage for the year if you go to it. They guarentee it.
  18. I think it's time this thread was back up to the top, being us northerners are just getting out bikes out regularly. I too have spent many hours watching DM videos and really would like to have him set mine up. I'm trying to get my wife back into riding her own bike and so I wonder when the next women's sportbike rally is going to be held. At Deal's Gap or anywhere here in the midwest? Thanks.
  19. Through May? All of March, April and May? I live pretty near east of you and I am riding just about every day now. And then every day in April and May. And I live in the dreaded lake effect snow belt. I don't worry as much about the cleanliness of the bike. More of a problem than that is not riding.
  20. I hope you and everyone else who notices the lack of space to get the key in and out does what someone here posted ( I think it was here anyway ) just turn the two handlebar mount brackets around and the the shorter end will be at the key side and the little tabbed end will point back towards you. No charge, but a nice improvement in my book.
  21. I do that, in fact unless i do that it isn't going on. I have had two others that went on real easily.
  22. I've had my one piece Roadcrafter suit for 27 years. Still have it but now I switch between it and a 2 piece Darien. Both have their advantages but I really prefer the one piece.
  23. I have a Klim TK1200 I think it is. Very light for a modular and yes, the non modular is even lighter. But the cherry on top is the Transition lens with a pin lock too. Only thing I don't like is putting it on and taking it off. Very tight there but fits great once on your head. All day comfortable.
  24. So twenty years ago what were you riding when your friend started you on this path?
