  1. Welcome.. a proper good fun bike... Enjoy.
  2. Mine is a constands headstock stand and i find them much more stable than fork bottom type. Allows for fork removal. Quick, easy and secure. The pin I have has a 19 mm flange that sits in stand tube and 22mm that fits head tube on old bike. Turned it around and 19 fits nice on T9, so turned 22 into 19. 20 mm may fit, but I played safe. Maybe useful for anyone considering this type of stand.
  3. Good stands these but pin diameter too big for tracer, 22mm for old bike. Don't need to buy new one. Took it to work and turned it down to 19mm. Fits T9 headstock stem. Front wheel off ground safely.
  4. Same screen here in light tint. Looks good, no head banging or noise. Hits me top of chest where i like it, down position a little lower for when the sun comes out. It's always up.
  5. Did 100+ miles this morning in low position. Same forward tilt i think but didn't notice much difference in leg room when riding but flat feet at stop, so will leave in low for now. If this is my only issue, then I'm happy. ☺️
  6. I had my T9 in for 600 mile service last week, dealer told me not to run engine in gear when lubing chain or it will flash a fault on dash. I told him I already had and all good, wheels turning at different speeds. They didn't know, I told him. I might try and change my habits tho.
  7. I have the Richa typhoon one piece and it is NOT waterproof, but not a lot is.imo. I had to ride 300 miles in very wet weather in April and my crutch and belly area was soaking. I had the one piece over a goretex two piece. Even Rukka stuff can leak. Welcome.
  8. Yes, was a nice ride. The wife and I are staying there for two nights next weekend so I was on a recky mission. Looks a nice little town. Sea front BnB, nice walks and I hope one or two pubs for food n drink.. I'll have a better look at the castle and the surrounding area, hope weather plays ball.
  9. Had a quick look and no good. Seat sits out of line with plastics and big horrible gap. Could be done but would spoil looks. Gonna ride tomorrow in low position but presume same results. I imagine many have tried an easy solution before i came along with same results. Not a biggy and will live with it for now.. Maybe a grippy seat cover is the cheaper answer.
  10. I've got this one. Looks good and does the job. Side Stand Kickstand Plate Pad For YAMAHA MT09 FZ09 FJ09 TRACER 900 15-19 BK U3 1:With this larger stand foot, your bike always has a secure...
  11. As Old DVB touches on, there use was for track where every tenth counts. On the public roads it's a novelty. Some welcome the gadgets some don't.
  12. I looked at the little versys, good looking sporty adventure styling which I wanted, nice engine but maybe not quite enough go. The big one looked more heavy adventure to me, horrible exhaust, 700 tracer, again, maybe not enough go when required...then I met the Tracer 900. Perfect porridge, not too hot, not too cold. 😁
  13. Interesting.. I've come from a KTM background, sdgt being my last. Fantastic bike aswel. Comfy enough, plenty of go and I liked it's looks, toured on it no probs. MY17 but, it did have niggles and my dealer was a distance away. L/h switch gear packed up, gearbox not the best. finding neutral was a science. Feet slipped off pegs and the thing that haunted me the most was the infamous software updates. In the end the novelty of electronic gadgets wore off. Went to my local Yamaha dealer and was taken by the tracer. Very comfy, light, good looking, not many gadgets, non GT and it is great getting the centre stand back, not had one for years. Love the triple, all the power I need, not had a four for years. . Heated grips, sorted. Still early days but I think I've started a long and happy relationship. Making me a happy chap.
  14. Now that sounds like a idea. Front high, back low. Maybe nylon spacers to build up front mounts. Will look at weekend. Thanks..
  15. Really, really enjoying this perfect sized bike. I've changed a few bits and pieces, my only gripe at the moment is the forward tilting seat. I find myself standing and shuffling my arse back up the seat. It's not a biggy but it's there. Every bike has it's little gripes and I'm trying to get the T9 gripe free. Are there any cheapish solutions or is it something to live with, which I could ???...and it's great having a centre stand back. Cheers.
  16. I've been waiting to see how it pulls post 6 k and how it sounds. Very happy on both accounts.
  17. Welcome Steve. Not too big, not too small. Great choice.
  18. Welcome to the forum. Plenty of good info here. I got my T9 from Yamaha Wigan, good lads I reckon.. The problem you'll find with your new bike is... it won't slow you down. well maybe in a straight line. These bikes seem to encourage speedy riding due to the sound's it makes when twisting. I'm 52 and it ain't improved my behaviour. Great chose, enjoy.
  19. Day off work..day on bike. Nice little town. Small castle on the hill. Bikes started singing to me, oh yes...
  20. The T9 is my first Yamaha for many years and I'm liking it. Had first service yesterday, so looking forward to taking the engine to the next level. Never heard before but book says there's a second break-in period up to 1000 miles. 7k rpm ish. Speaking to a friend of mine on Friday, ex racer, he says just ride it normally. All engines are power tested at max revs in factory. To check all is good I suppose. Avoid long full throttle and just ride normal, varied revs. Probably wouldn't mention it to dealer in a warranty claim though.
  21. I suppose it all depends on what your doing with your bike and where you live. My last bike was made out of factory gadgets. C/C, Q/S, Electronic suspension, etc. There was stories of things going expensively wrong out of warranty. On our congested roads in the UK, I found Cc could only be used for motorways which I generally avoid, did try it but felt alien, plus my hand is on grip anyway. Qs can be fun, but not necessary on the road and I believe missuse can damage gearbox. Tft screens don't excite me. Boxes are good if your 2 up with luggage, I'm only 1 up so givi bag on back seat. For me though, Heated grips are essential and I had them installed at shop and intergrated to dash. Often when buying new bike, dealer will fit extras at no fitting cost. Which ever way you go, you'll be a happy chap. Rear suspension adjustment on GT is good though.
  22. I went for the tracer 900...Keep the novelties for the Xmas tree.👍
  23. Brilliant report Wordsmith, a part of the world I visited with very fond memories in 1994. Traveling on the Greyhound coach over 4 months. Wasn't Bunderberg known for its Rum.?? I stayed in a hostel and worked on local farms to make the money stretch. Met some fantastic people. Another highlight was the 4x4 trip to Frazer island. Your very lucky to live in such a fantastic country. Ye, you could do with a bit more rain. Loving my MY18 tracer, very understated bike that many overlook. Enjoy.
  24. Imo..if your flat footed then you might be cramping your legs when on pegs. Ball and toes is fine with me. 5"9'.. A common issue I see when backing out parked bike on loose surfaces is folks sit on bike and push bike out , foot slips and trouble. Much easier to push bike from standing, L hand on bar, R hand on grab rail or similar.,side stand back down and climb aboard. A friend of mine dropped his doing this in may, very embarrassing.
