  1. Hah I hear this I'm 6'4" myself, but "all torso". I wear 32/33" length pants, but I can easily "double flatfoot" the Tracer with the seat in the high position.
  2. Yup, basically goes full>half>quarter>eighth. It's weird and kind of a dumb implementation IMHO, but it's just how it is.
  3. I'd really like a small, shorty flyscreen for mine. Like @bwringer I really prefer to just lean against wind pressure. I've found riding with the stock windscreen to be *significantly* more tiring than riding without a windscreen at all, simply because I can't lean into the wind, and there's uneven wind pressure on my head. Doesn't help that the stock windshield is hot garbage. It DOES help in the winter, though, keeping a lot of crap off my jacket and the lack of chest wind does help keep me warmer, but in the summer? I've been riding for over a quarter century now, and from the first day to today, I sincerely don't understand why people say riding without a windshield is tiring - at least, on a reasonably upright sitting bike anyways, it's different on a cruiser. Just lean on the wind, like how you balance your hand/arm out a car window. Zero effort.
  4. I got mine from Twisted Throttle (who have a Canadian branch) - I had the same trouble, it was weirdly difficult to get fitting tank grips here, at least at a non-stupid price. IIRC I paid $40 shipped. For what it's worth, I'm a 300lb guy (before gear) and I've ridden offroad standing on mine more than once. They're very solid; no give or sketchy feeling at all.
  5. I've been rocking a Joe Rocket "67" combination textile/leather jacket for a few years now, and it's holding up extremely well. Not ideal in the winter (no thermal liner) but it's sturdy and came with decent armor. Watching my fellow riders go through jackets due to them just wearing out despite doing far fewer kms per year in way better weather has really made me happy with the Joe Rocket. I do need to get a winter waterproof jacket, though. No amount of spray makes my current jacket even remotely waterproof
  6. The RG's are IMHO a really great "multipurpose" tank grip. They don't grip as well as some "proper" sport tank grips, but they are reasonably grippy and importantly for a bike you're riding long distances/often, they don't destroy your pants. YMMV, but I've had tank grips in the past that wreck jeans, and that doesn't work for me for a bike I ride daily. I have these on my 2019, and they fit great. They've done just fine for me for around 10k kms. Like all of these, the pins are too long, so they hang out a bit. Very minor purely cosmetic quibble. Also, you have to (with all Tracers) grind off the pin on the... left? stock peg. One has a c-clip, the other is rivetted. Because reasons.
  7. Sorry, I missed this question. Probably too late for an answer, but: Either. I run in the high position, but it doesn't matter, the mod will affect either position equally. This is because lifting the rear of the tank lifts up the point where the front of the seat locks into the bike.
  8. Even here, our roads vary but never so bad as to worry about my sump. That'd take a *huge* pothole - deeper than anything I've seen on our roads - and the idea of one so large around I can't help but hit it is horrifying. Don't think I've ever had a road bike where I've so much as scratched the undercarriage at all.
  9. Yeah, Yoshi and Puig tail tidy kits are absurd. I always ask as while I've traditionally run the no-name ebay special $25-50 tail tidies, the Tracer one I happened to have already (was shipped the wrong one when I ordered for my MT07) wouldn't fit the hardcases, so I'm a bit leery.
  10. Hah I rode mine yesterday to have that recall brake switch thing done. It's always fun, as there's always guys at the shop who want to test ride the bike with winters in the snow. Anlas should pay me.
  11. Holy crap. I paid $13k CDN for my 2019 in 2019, though it was a demo bike so it had a couple hundred KM's on it (but got it's first service done for free as well). Aussie Dollarydoos are pretty much equivalent to our Canadian Pesos, too. Oof.
  12. Which tail tidy is this? There's still room to mount the hardcases with the tidy in place? Man, even as someone living where that kind of weather is normal (including the changes from -phuckoffcold to +surprisinglywarm), I really feel for you guys. Even when you're prepared for it (housing with good insulation is a legal requirement) it sucks. The "rolling blackouts" (which reports show seem to be limited to a certain subset of neighborhoods) are a hard no - I can't believe that's even legal. I mean, here, the power company can't cut off your heat from Oct through March even if you don't pay them because you can definitely die at -20c, and it doesn't take very long. That said, I guarantee you're going to see this weather again. Climate change is only going to get worse. On the upside, though, I can definitely recommend all the stuff you need to have a great time riding your Tracer in -20C weather!
  13. I've never had to plug a motorcycle tire. However, I've used rope plugs (interestingly, they've never been the type that need glue, same deal as the Nealy guy ones shown above but a different brand) on countless car tires and have never had one fail, even after years of use. I average 15,000kms/year, over the last 25 years, and have maybe had one puncture? Two flats in my life, one due to it being super old and crumbling apart, and another also of very questionable vintage. Both being test riding old garage finds after I got them running.
  14. No idea. You could try, for sure; but I suspect there won't be room for the butterflies to actuate beneath the cone-shaped fitting when you cram it into a throttle body. Also, I'd think you'd need more than one of these, because you need to measure the vacuum of two intakes simultaneously.
  15. Wait, what?! Oh my god, this is wonderful. Wonderful. I can't even. I mean, removing the bodywork isn't really a big deal - after you do it a couple times it becomes pretty routine - but it's a bunch of silly extra work that just makes it more of a pain in the ass. I've got a new set of plugs that have been on my workbench pending installation for like 3 months now. Once things warm up a bit so it's not -30 in my garage, I'm totally doing this.
  16. I'm here, personally. I've got the motion pro tool, and like it, but as I've got a couple cheap digital calipers (they're like $20cdn) I've switched over to just measuring from block to end of swingarm. Like others here, I'm MUCH pickier about wheel alignment than chain slack. I don't know why that is, but it is. So long as my chain isn't significantly loose (and I never set it too tight + it doesn't tighten on it's own) I just don't care. I change my tires twice a year at a minimum, so the chain gets reset then, and of course a couple times after a new chain is installed.
  17. My cheap rubber topped pegs from Amazon have been fine. Other than the pins they came with being ridiculously too long, anyways, but that's a tiny cosmetic issue not functional at all. They deaden vibration a bit, and sit completely flat.
  18. Yeah, the stock Dunlops are actually IMHO shockingly bad given the bike and it's capabilities. Not a slight at Dunlops overall, but rather the specific stock tires. At least those that came on my 2019 anyways, they were super sketchy when pushed even moderately hard. But yeah, the centerstand is where you'll drag first, often before the pegs, which is kind of weird.
  19. Another fellow here did it with Plastidip - I forget who off hand - but it looks identical. But yeah. It looks like it'll be simple, but it's pretty tough, particularly the first one. I fortunately had enough, it took me two tries to do the first one, then the second was pretty easy, and I ended up re-doing the first after once I got much better at the process. I used Vvivid vinyl (and since have learned that it would have been WAY easier with 3M or Avery), and it's held up for a year and a half so far, even with riding in all sorts of terrible weather and even snow and slush. The corners are starting to lift off, but it's not really visible unless you go looking for it. I think it would be WAY WAY easier if you had either something to attach the part to, or better yet, a second set of hands helping. Wrapping things, it turns out, is significantly easier with more hands.
  20. Mine's off by ~7-8% (read 108kph, while doing 100; 54kph indicated while doing 50kph).
  21. I have it on mine, and as the bike is just over a year old is actually on it. Will I need it? Probably not. Will it be worth the price? Probably not. It's unlikely anything will break, and if it does, the plan costs itself are likely to cover whatever the warranty would have. Will I cancel mine? Probably not. I keep thinking about it, but never do. *shrugs*
  22. Aha! I've got the same colour scheme, and did exactly this. The white panels just didn't look right, but a bit of black vinyl and you're golden. Did you do it yourself, or have it done? I'd never wrapped anything before I did mine, and they were substantially more complex to wrap than I anticipated. I'm gonna plastidip mine next time.

  24. What does work really well are those portable diesel heaters. My BIL has one, just a small $200-ish deal, and it absolutely cranks out heat and uses surprisingly little fuel to do it. I've often considered it, but installing one requires more constructiony stuff than I can do in a rental (need an exhaust to outside). They're awesome though. Edit: I just grabbed the first ebay link I found, for clarity, they come in two sizes, 2500w and 5000w. There are 8000w ones like the one I linked, but that's just marketing babble and they're functionally identical to the 5000w models. The 5000w models output approximately 17,000BTU, and as the exhaust is outside there's no smell.
  25. heh yeah, I've got a 1500w heater in my garage too, it's just not even close to cutting it there. Basically does nothing. I even insulated it when we moved in, but... nope. It's great if it's just cool - down to around freezing - but when it's like this? Not even a point in turning it on.
