  1. Just to clarify, this is the screen for your T9GT, and not 900GT-correct?
  2. 2020 model: I definitely have 6th gear highway whine, but when it comes on I simply adjust my speed above or below that rev range. It's there, but it's nothing that would make me sell the bike- I love too much about it. No oil consumption issues.
  3. Also strongly considering Laam seat over the winter. I don't care for his typical stitch pattern and seat material, but I bet that's the customer's choice to change. At least it better be! Seat slope fix and comfort is the main thing to remedy.
  4. Another choice in the sport touring segment, and it looks competitive. Still don't think it would have changed my mind from my Tracer- it's all about that 3 cylinder motor for me.
  5. Agree- think of the possible damage/consequences of too tight, makes me cringe. Keeping an eye on my o-rings, after reading other's experiences.
  6. The update is appreciated. I asked because my use would by necessity be at least 90% street, due to location. It wasn't designed to be a 100 mph street ride. That FortNine video is outstanding and really helps understand the design, and what the bike is capable of. Do I need one? No, but it'd be great to have both a touring set up Tracer and a T7. I sure would like to try one now. Just wish it could have weighed around 400 lbs wet- that'd be ideal.
  7. Did the handling of the 21" front wheel surprise you on the highway? I rode an Africa Twin this spring, and didn't like the wandering and vague, loose feel of 21/18's above 50mph. Depends on what kind of riding you do most of, and I went for the Tracer and it's 17" wheels for street majority use. Tenere 700 looks to be a nice capable trail machine, and weighs 50 pounds less than the Honda. I wonder if the length and mounting point of that aluminum side stand would fit Tracers? Tracer is 10"= 255mm length. Guessing Tenere's is a bit longer due to frame height and suspension. Could we be so lucky?
  8. I bought a set off ebay- no issues, no downsides. Tracers should have come with them- do it!
  9. 2and3cylinders- that high mile VTR looks kind of familiar. Did you ride a lot around Kettle Moraine South, hang out at the Highland House ("Brett?"). Auxiliary fuel tank at one point? Could be mistaken...
  10. Trimming the under saddle tray for more room is a great idea!
  11. There's more proof right there. Tracers really should have come from the factory with a guard. Happy so far with my SW Moto part- any road hazard could still cause damage, but it is worth some piece of mind.
  12. On the euro based Tracer Owners Facebook page, I was called out for wanting a skid plate. "Why? It's not an adventure bike." Hard to believe that I had to explain and justify my decision, but it's the interwebs. I could state we're all human beings on planet earth, and get an argument. Here's a real reason. A few seasons ago I was riding on a 4 lane boulevard, not divided, a residential area, 35 mph speed limit, daylight, moderate traffic. Well, this suddenly appeared from underneath the car I was following, right in front of my front wheel. I was not following too closely, but still had only one chance to identify the hazard, decide what to do, and execute. Did the right thing and counter steered around it. If this class lll ball mount had hit my engine sump...
  13. Thank you for posting your experience. This is exactly why I'm reluctant to make electrical changes or add anything electrical to my Tracer.
  14. Interesting alternative, but not enough to have made me choose it over the Tracer at this point. I'm guessing the new Honda does have 17" wheels- I did not want a street bike with 19" or 21" front wheel, too skittery and vague at highway speed. Riding an Africa Twin confirmed that for me. Riding a Yamaha Tracer three cylinder motor sealed the deal for me, I don't think the Honda twin will have half the character and unique feel of the triple.
  15. Seems from anecdotal evidence that some 2020 US models are indeed affected. Which means I will be carefully monitoring my chain a bit more than usual. Does Yamaha cover replacement under warranty in the US, or is it a local dealer call/judgement?
  16. Excellent. Curious- what's his turn around time, and does he use your stock seat pans?
  17. One thing I've learned is that there's quite a bit of difference in fit on Shoei's once they're broken in, they get way looser. Like a one size difference in my RF1200's- it's critical to expect and adjust for it when fitting shell size, thicker pads aren't enough. Don't know if this applies to AGV and LS2.
  18. Although I haven't passed 2K miles yet, I know I like this bike enough to get a better seat. I'll be very interested to hear feedback on the Seth Laam seat that CRFan250 has coming- let us know if you add to a thread elsewhere.
  19. CRFan250- I appreciate the reply and feedback. I'm starting to research a cold weather screen, and since we're both in the midwest, I thought I'd ask. There's certainly lots of plastic to tuck behind in the rain! Surprised it works so well in hot summer conditions. Impossible to tell how well they work just by looking at them- lots of choices available.
  20. I was a Highland House visitor since 1982- I remember well the crowd sizes and met a few characters there that made it a fun Sunday morning meeting place. I thought the Full Moon was never as good, never got the turn out, it was just a better location (except for riders from the city). You've personalized and upgraded your bike very well- I've already found there's decent aftermarket availability for them, and the platform just seems to respond really well to upgrades. Even the little things- I bonded with it by making my own delrin bar ends, and fabricated brackets to adapt an old FZR radiator guard I had. Seems to me to be one of those bikes you can take in any direction you like- I'm just late finding out, glad I moved on from my CBR Blackbird.
  21. Mine was the last 2020 my dealer had in March. The 2021 Tracer 9GT didn't do it for me, and I figured better to get the last year of a 7 year model run than first year of new gen. Didn't want electronic suspension. How do you like the Madstad? More of cold weather screen-right? How was it in the heat? Have not heard of Seth Laam, will look into him. I was going to get the Yamaha comfort seat when available.
  22. I've been wearing Bohn armor under my pants for years. They work, and I had to test them- I had a Ford Explorer pull out in front of me at the last second. No escape path, t-boned the door at 90 degrees, hit under 20 mph while on the front brakes. I actually put a small dent in my gas tank with my knee, but I had no lower body injury! Lucky, though- the knee pads do slip down in their pockets. Wish they would improve them or that there was a better alternative. I'm still wearing the same ones 5 years later.
  23. Same here. I just got a left over RF-1200, as I don't care for the new center lock visor release on the new RF-1400. Key for me was buying a size smaller than the previous one- they really get loose as they break in. Perfect fit now- I love this lid.
  24. I'm sorry to hear a fellow owner has to end his riding season so early. I'm in the north suburbs, and am surprised to notice that I have yet to see another Tracer on the road. Seems like area riders no longer meet up on Sunday mornings at the Full Moon restaurant on Rt. 41 in North Chicago, or is there another spot? I agree with you, GTO Mike- it does bring back the riding fun. I nail full throttle at least once every time I ride. I did not do that on my previous CBR1100XX's- sometimes I never got over 4,000 rpm on a ride. This bike really is more fun, more of the time.
  25. I'm from the Chicago area, and I bought a leftover 2020 model this spring. This bike wasn't on my radar, but something caught my eye, and it looked better and better the more research I did. Reading owner's comments on this forum (and the euro based owners fb page) influenced my decision, and I made the right choice! A test ride of a used one sealed it- that motor really sold me. I wanted something different after riding inline four cylinders as a main ride since the mid 1970's. I've already added a SCR skid plate, Givi crash bars, hand shields, and top case, fender extender, rubber foot pegs. I like this bike enough to want to upgrade the seat and suspension later. Love having cruise control and heated grips and a comprehensive dash. I find the Tracer to be fun to ride every time, yet practical enough to go go grocery shopping on- love it.
