Chain recommendation

Recommended Posts

I've used Maxima chain lube.  I use the sticky kinds that "don't fling".  My biggest problem is after riding 450 to 560 miles it's too easy to "just wait till tomorrow" to lube the chain.

The ScottOiler has been much better.  Today I filled it with the blue oil which is thinner and good to 86F.  Had been using the red which is thicker but good in higher temperatures.  Probably explains why it sometimes doesn't put as much out as other times.  Last trip saw temperature in the 90s F down to high 30s and low 40s.

ScottOiler is nice but somewhat fiddly.  Not as bad as some have said but took a while to get it set right.  ...

Thanks for the great feedback. I think I will stick to my DuPont Teflon Chain-Saver Dry Self-Cleaning Lubricant which lives under the passenger seat and should be easy to apply at the end of each 500 mile day on a long trip.
