Premium Member DavidS Posted June 5, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted June 5, 2017 One thing the FJ-09 seems to be missing is a helmet lock. I have always had one right near the lock for the seat, so it is easy to secure my helmet if I'm going into a store or getting something to eat. If I'm crazy, and someone knows the secret to lock my helmet to the bike, please let me know. And if not, any ideas on how everyone else locks their helmet would be appreciated.

Some people have successfully used this type of lock https://www.ebay.com/p/gun-lock-9-cable-length-trigger-pistol-shotgun-rifle-childsafe-steel/1929948055

I was hoping for something a bit more elegant. I know I can get something that bolts to the handle bar, but I was hoping someone else had found something that is better. kiwicanuck
I use the stock steel cable and lock in under the back seat, not the quickest to put on and off but does the job for me.

Premium Member bugsplatered Posted June 6, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted June 6, 2017 I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lidlox-Grip-Tip-Helmet-Lock-for-Yamaha-FJ09-Black-/121903708708 It works really well for short trips into the store etc. But would not be good on rainy days. duhs10
@pcwizz those part numbers on the link I sent appear to be correct. I've never ordered from japan.webike.net, but it looks legit. You can go here https://japan.webike.net/oem_parts/?tld=net , select Yamaha and enter the part numbers to get a free quote on availability and price. Check you PM. '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... crd
I stopped leaving my helmet unattended when I watched someone using a helmet locked to a street parked bike as a toilet…

Actually I think it would still work. they attach right behind the passenger peg and I think there would still be room. http://i.imgur.com/cH6V3Ey.jpg '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... xcsp
Duhs10, maybe that type of lock would work with the saddlebags after seeing your picture with bags in place.
duhs10
Well I ordered one from japan.webike.com ... says I will get it in 5 days and I will let you know how it is. Now I'm wondering if I can key it to my ignition key. '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... Fayetteville, GA, USA
Premium Member upshift Posted June 6, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted June 6, 2017 I've got the Helmet Guardian which attaches inconspicuously underneath the license plate and has room to lock 2 helmets. http://www.twistedthrottle.ca/helmet-guardian-black Won't stop someone from whizzing in your helmet but keeps your passenger from giving you dirty looks when they have to carry their lid while you walk around unfettered...
