nhchris
Did about 130 miles in rain last week and then today... Took seat off to get tool kit out. When I opened the kit about 4 OZ of water poured out of it and the tools were rusty! Just an FYI - If you ride in the rain, a lot of water gets up under the seat and into the pan where tools and owners manual is stored. The pan seems to drain, but not the other stuff! cb 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ
Premium Member keithu Posted October 18, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted October 18, 2018 Weird. Hasn't been an issue on my '15. What year is yours? Do you run the seat in the high or low position?
Premium Member DavidS Posted October 18, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted October 18, 2018 Are you running the stock seat? or do you have an aftermarket?
kdimitris
it's common since you have two pieces for seat... Take a look under seat when you wash your bike, i'm sure you' ll find water. I always cover the seat when wash my bike (i don't ride when it rains anymore) and use a blower to make the place dry.
Premium Member keithu Posted October 18, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted October 18, 2018 I wash my bike twice a year whether it needs it or not. I've already done my two this year so that test will have to wait. :-) I'll keep an eye on it the next time my bike gets rained on. I've never noticed much water under the seat, although to be honest I don't look under there much. My toolkit hasn't shown any signs of water damage though. nhchris
Weird. Hasn't been an issue on my '15. What year is yours? Do you run the seat in the high or low position?I have the Comfort seat and run it in the low position. The Owners Manuel for my 2016 came in a factory zip lock envelope. So I assume Yami knows it gets wet under there. Thinking of getting an R&G fender for the rear. cb 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ

BBB
Mine definitely gets damp under there after washing the seat area, so I always take the seats off and dry under there. Mine’s a ‘15 with the seat in the raised position. Red 2015 Tracer, UK spec (well, it was until I started messing with it...)
