  1. Just curious but can we (USA) order from Yamaha canada?
  2. I have an 18 mt09 and attempted to measure the stand. Not as easy as I thought it would be. Is there an exact measure to your wanting? Approx 10” using a tape measure. I also have a 15fj but have a kickstand baseplate on it so not easy to measure either. Not sure I was helpful but let me know what else I can do.
  3. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me. Don’t think you can go wrong at that price. I always see them but 90% of the time they add fees etc and the end result is not the promised price. Hope it is for you.
  4. That is impressive. I have taken two cross country trips on two fj and both had stock tires. Both bikes ended with 7-8 on the clocks bu the tires did need replaced. However I still felt could easily squeeze a grand more at least.
  5. Little pic of clutch cable for 15 model and new cable. I am sure this is stated before but OEM for 15 is 2PP-26335-01. The updated clutch cable OEM is 2PP-26335-02. My latest FJ is a 15 with 1600 miles on it. No problems with cables either now or the two FJ I have had before however figured might as well swap during corona lockdown. As you can see in pic there is hug difference in shape. Guessing there is a reason for that. Cable install was easy and straightforward.
  6. I have done that as well. For those who think they can't do it you should think again and go for it. Couple youtube videos and some instructions here on the forum about how its done but it is super easy. Don't overthink it and there is not really a way to mess it up. I have never touched a lock before trying this and now have done several of them. I am now on my 3rd FJ with bags and 3rd rekey lockset. Also hit me up if you dont get it sorted and I can walk you though it if needed.
  7. Another vote for the SW engage. Think it’s 7 liters (aka smallish) and looks and works great. Have used on two cross country trips in heat, rain, cold etc without issue. Tank ring keeps it off the tank but close enough to look great. However the downside is the price. SW doesn’t give them away for sure.
  8. Not so sure we get those in the states (yet anyway).
  9. I went to the one in Chicago and was little disappointed compared to years past. This year not even close as many vendors for accessories and no ducati, triumph, bmw or guzzi bikes to check out. Still worth going as there are still lots to see but I can't help but feeling something is for sure missing. Maybe just a sign of the times I guess in the industry?
  10. Maybe I missed something in the thread but have you considered the yamaha oem rack and topcase? Bolt rack on and attach the yamaha topcase in the size you choose.
  11. Mine do not touch at all on the sport touring.
  12. Not sure it’s exactly the same but I purchased the same blank keys from China. Options for gold or silver color metal and various colored plastic ends. I had them cut at a local smith without issue and they function just fine. They of course are not as nice as the OEM blanks. However much better (I thought) than the generic solid key from hardware store. The logo on the key for me was a printed decal. Still ok as long as you know what your getting.
  13. I have used them both of my previous fj09 and feel it’s worth while. For me I think it looks good and works even better. Larger than stock of course but not so large it restricts all air flow or creates hot pockets of dead air. I have used on multiple cross country trips and would recommend highly.
  14. That’s impressive and sounds like a lot of fun. Serious miles in short amount of time. I feel like a road warrior doing 6000 in a couple of weeks. You are taking me to school. Keep us posted.
  15. I will do that. And post here as things start to come together.
  16. I am not exactly sure yet. Last time I went from Los Angelos northbound to San Francisco. The thought had crossed my mind to try and ride further north up the Oregon coast to Seattle. I go solo and camp mostly so I will prob change my route a few times before launch date. I love it out that way.
  17. I would also say go for the rear rack. Your talking about some high road miles and the added shelf is nice.
  18. Late July early August I am heading from Indiana to California and back. Not exactly sure of the route but I have done similar trips before on an 09. Usually a little over 6000 miles in a couple of weeks. Camping under the starts and enjoying the scenery. Can't wait.
  19. Just a little update. I found a few various threads here and there in the depths of the forum that reference the right side cowl gap where it meets the headlight. Guess I can sleep in peace now knowing I am not alone and it’s just the FJ in its natural habitat it seems. Thanks for the input everyone.
  20. Ok. I am not familiar with that but will try and see what can be removed/ reinstalled. That could make a difference.
  21. Ok. Which bracket are you referencing? I know hard to describe.
  22. I think I know what your saying. It’s a dark colored screw closest to the headlight? I did try and snug up/ slightly move the bracket the screw goes into. It seems to help some but ultimately the other holes have to line up. It’s almost like everything lines up great but the fairing holes on the sides. When those two are lines up the front comes up a little short. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Keep them coming
  23. Oh fun bike. I had a 17 FZ10 and really enjoyed it. Gas mileage was terrible but it was a fun well made bike. Different animal completely than the 09 of course. Enjoy.
