  1. Nice loop. I will be through your neck of the woods next week for some more me-time... cooler weather is finally arriving.
  2. If you don't need 12V in there, then I suggest replacing the socket with a USB pod. Lots to choose from on Amazon. Just check the OD for best fit. If you think you will need 12V, then you can replace the socket with a Powerlet type (plugs will snap in place), and then use a Powerlet USB adapter.
  3. Sorry to hear. I have OEM pumpkin lenses only (not entire assembly). They kinda look the same on the 2019 MY. You can compare part numbers. Let me know if that's of any use to you.
  4. Yes... and for reasons similar to yours. Like-new FZ-09 set sourced locally for $30. It needed some edits to fit the FJ, but simple enough. I might try re-packing the Scorpion and see how it sounds. I don't mind the stock can sound at all... so we shall see.
  5. Thanks @skipperT for yet another (possibly) make-work project this winter. I just saw a video of a fella repacking the Scorpion Serket Taper silencer... like the one I removed from the bike in the Spring. 😁
  6. Ha... timely thread. I was exploring options to get my old headers all cleaned. Doing this with the assembly off the bike should help.
  7. Nice ride and photos... and that whole business of road suddenly turning dirt/gravel... sounds familiar. These moments tend to get etched into memory. 😎
  8. Hey @Sandeep... did you end up going? Any takeaways to pass on? The north is calling me again and Trans Taiga is on the list for sometime next year. I will be in the Timmins and Chapleau area in September for some much needed solitude. This is probably not the thread for it. Feel free to PM.
  9. Navigating closures and detours is a PITA on a good day, never mind in the wildfire chaos happening this year. A 3-day getaway still ain't bad. Hoping for change in the weather for the sake of all those truly affected.
  10. Sounds deserving of a recall or a service bulletin of some kind. Was there one?... or did Yamaha act on customer (who lived to tell) complaints case by case?
  11. Last thing I'd want to do is pay a premium for a suspension system that I'd still have to upgrade. I am sure they work great when working with the target weight/load. Feedback from NA riders will tell. I've got time to wait and see.
  12. A re-valve kit from Race Tech is inexpensive, and relatively easy to do. Stoltec offers ready to install re-valved carts (with, or without a swap for your OE cart). They use GP hardware, including a new custom needle (unlike RT). A little more money than RT... but still good value. Andreani carts are another option, but you might have to experiment with oil weight in the c-leg to get damping to your liking. No big deal really. Andreani bough FBI... so they are somewhat local now. You could call them up.
  13. Yes. Is this just some left over oil you're mixing?
  14. Some great feedback. I found an article at Motorcyclist Online that hits some of the right/relevant points. It's a little dated, but still very relevant. https://www.motorcyclistonline.com/electronic-suspension-motorcycle-suspension-tips-mc-garage-how-to/ Interestingly, it notes that these suspensions may still be subject to re-springing/valving to suit rider/load weight outside the factory baselines. Sounds familiar.
  15. Thanks @OZVFR. Sounds pretty convincing. 75,000 km w/o any service work a bit of a stretch, but I guess it worked just fine. My riding buddy had good things to say about the system on the Versys 1000. It's the maintenance bit that I'd now like to understand better. Maybe someone with the 9GT (other?) service manual could add something here.
  16. Oh, come on... you had money for the beak. Buy new boots! 😁
  17. Thanks @betoney. I understand that these various systems exist, but wondered it they truly are a one-size-fits-all, and where are the compromises outside of the inability to adjust manually (moot point maybe if it works well) and possibly spending a small fortune on maintenance due to system complexity. Is the suspension subject to on-bike calibration by the dealer once maintenance is done... etc. Yeah, I resigned myself to sending my shock out for service. My Nitron is due for some TLC this winter. I wrongly assumed that the 9GT+ came with electronic suspension while the 9GT didn't. I see that both do... but questions remain just the same I suppose. I tweaked the opening post to suit.
  18. Trying to weigh the value, pros/cons of an electronic suspension against a manually adjustable quality aftermarket kit. It is early for the 9GT/+ experiences/comparisons, but maybe experiences from other bikes just as a point of reference? I am guessing the electronic suspension will dynamically adjust (not just pre-ride setup), but there are still some constants like the spring rate, valving min/max limits etc. Will this suspension adjust properly up to the rated weight bearing of the bike?... unlike what we found on earlier models. There's been much talk on here about upgrading springs/valving, and suspension kits, to fix things for riders weighing ~200 lb or more + luggage/pillion etc. Wondering if this would now no longer be an issue on the 9GT. Suspension maintenance is another question. I am sure it's subject to the similar mileage/time based routine. I really value the ability to do maintenance work myself, and wonder if this would now require me to send my suspension to a shop for simple things like replacing oil, bushings etc. Thoughts, opinions, or first-hand experience with electronic suspensions?
  19. I wash the thing by hand... and it's not that bad IMO, but I wandered about doing this for a while now. What product do you use?
  20. Sounds like a good way to inject some variety/purpose into the ride. I think I will let the memory of my SS1000 ride fade a little more first 😬.
  21. Oops... sorry didn't notice/read. Can you locate any external fasteners on these panels? It would suck indeed to have to remove the crash bars to be able to remove the plastics.
  22. You could just opt to use the system as you would a standard CC... with little traffic and all moving at decent speed. I like it in my car, but as soon as things slow down enough for me to need to shift down a gear or two, I defeat it and wait until things open up again. It was a bit of a learning curve for sure. Lane changes and passing especially. Having said all that... I am curious how this would feel/work on a motorcycle.
  23. CAD $24K on the Canadian website (priced out using MSRP). I like the bike a lot... even having just sat on it a bunch of times (it feels at home), but... I'd have to free up more time to ride to justify the upgrade. Probably not for another 2-3 years when I retire. Looking forward to that for sure. Until then, or maybe longer 🙂, I will ride my trusty FJ... and pay attention as any 9GT+ issues/complaints get solutioned on this forum.
  24. Nick at Stoltec was very helpful, even though I only bought his springs. I was very tempted by the GP carts... but ended up re-valving with a Race Tech kit instead up front. He offers a cart swap/re-valve too I think. I am sure you will really enjoy your new suspension.
  25. My riding buddy rode the 2017... all else looked the same as my 2015. Section 2-1 "General Specifications" in the service manual (for each model year) has identical figures. I don't see the swingarm listed separately anywhere, but the wheelbase is the same at 1440mm (56.7").
