  1. Turbo it!!! The FZ/FJ-09 share same air box, so im pretty sure the FZ-09 turbo kit will fit with some trimming of the left side plastic... 200whp sounds just about right says Goldilocks ðŸĪŠ
  2. Simple color combos are where Yamaha needs to pay attention... Stick to the classic basic colors- white/black, Yamaha Blue with black, classic Yamaha yellow with checked flag race stripe, black/black... Makes it easy to match gear, etc... Why do they gotta have new fancy colors like Athletic Grey with nuclear pea barf rims( HiVis color) or some odd forest green hue???
  3. Yeah winter is kinda a blessing/curse- gives us a chance to upgrade without missing out on nice riding weather... We( myself and friends) use winter to upgrade the fast cars/trucks or build new ones... I currently got 2 turbo s10 pickups to work on, my FZ-07 and a few other projects to keep me occupied during winter... Sometimes we just create odd projects from left over parts/take offs to kill time... I would be more annoyed if I kinda didn't have the typical winter months of sub zero temps and snow because I would wanna go ride and ignore upgrades since it's nice riding weather...
  4. Only the first few years have good color combos 😑... I still love the pearl white color on my 2015 FZ-07 tho... Pulled the pic from Google...
  5. If your FJ-09 is already set up, such as suspension, seat, farkles, QS, heated grips, Cruise Control, etc Your really only missing out on a fancy color dash display in my opinion...
  6. I agree... I might have to travel to ABQ to visit my best friend or go back home to NorCal to visit family... If this super early cold weather keeps up to freeze the Great Lakes early, Michigan is in for a deep deep snowy cold spell 😖...
  7. Yes the typical Yamaha test rider seems to be a featherweight... General consensus is if your under 160# suited up, yeah you could get away with suspension upgrades depending on your preference for suspension handling... I myself am 175# suited and yeah the suspension was nothing special but it was lacking for my preference mainly in the rear shock Dept... A majority of owners here are above 250# and found the suspension lacking...that's from the rider, cargo boxes, etc really pushing the comfort of the suspension... Also it don't really help a great majority of us are ex racers, MX riders, racers, canyon carver's who, or traded in heavy bikes with great suspension for this little Tracer 900... Quite a few solutions to the suspension... But I believe you should at least put some miles on the bike before committing to spending money on stuff cuz the internet says so... Some people where happy with just replacing the oil or just fork springs and buying a basic aftermarket rear shock... Some( myself- Stoltec DIY kit) went with fork springs, oil and a fork cartridge upgrade ( fix the dead leg with adjustable damping- Traxxion Dynamics, KTech, Ohlins or re-valed shim stack- Stoltec) and a rear shock such as Penske double click or KTech razor R or Ohlins- mainly 20mm fork piston kits are the kits with adjustable damping in the dead leg for example... Others went even further to run a GP style 25mm fork piston kits with a uber fancy rear shock... Running a steering stabilizer bar, the whole 9yds...
  8. I heard the same, seen all the postings...went back and forth on setups/cost for almost 4yrs... Now I just gotta wait till springtime to test it out after installing em over winter, unless I load the bike up in my lil truck and head south for a mini vacation ( I do get 5wks of vacy a year ðŸĪ”) ...
  9. I also got my spacers/bolts from Matt... I wasn't quite 100% sure if they would work... Thanks for also helping with the clarification of the spacers... Seems like we need a spacer puller to make em a bit longer 😆... Probably can't hurt to send an email to them if that person wants some I'm not knocking on Matt(I currently run a suspension set up from him on my FZ-07) but I get life takes priority over side projects/jobs...
  10. I did find these caliper spacers today when took I trip down the interwebs lanes... Caliper Parts. Performance Motorcycle Accessories, Ninja H2 intercooler kit, MT-FZ Turbo Kit and stunt bike parts from Extreme Creations ... I wonder if these will work on our bikes, I know a few peeps are still looking to run a 320mm rotor... Just throwing this out there... Looks like if they do work, you would need to source some longer bolts since the spacers would be either 7 or 10mm longer IIRC (I got mine sitting on the shelf in the garage, I can measure em if needed)
  11. I got everything from Stoltec... We emailed back/forth a few times then I pulled the trigger... I'm not worried about going nuts with fine tuning the fork oil lvls/wt.. I just need a rear shock that will behave, for me the stock OEM shock is a wet noodle...
  12. Good to hear... I know it don't have compression damping screw but I just wanna settle the rear end down, the rear suspension behavior is my main concern... Putting new springs, oil and shim stack in the forks will be a night/day difference over OEM currently for me...
  13. Placed my suspension order with Stoltec Moto... I got new springs (.85kg), 20mm fork cartridge kit and a Penske double clicker rear shock(550# spring) for a rider suited up at 175# and intermediate track lvl riding(no 2up, no cargo boxes for luggage- I use a backpack to hold a few drinks) Winter is here very early... Got 2inches of snow for Holloween ðŸĪŠ For almost 4yrs, I have been itching for suspension upgrades but we know life loves tossing out speed bumps/lane changes 🙄
  14. I ride without my stock windscreen, but during spring/fall I put it back on ... Running no windscreen is the best solution to wind noise...
  15. Well after 3343km your seat will be perfectly broken in, even Goldilocks would approve 😁
  16. Give it till end of week- maybe picture of bike next to like " world's biggest ball of twine" type of deal...
  17. also known as "snowmobile" helmets...mainly due to the heated face shield... Some are battery operated or use a wired power source...
  18. Every time I turn the motor off, I use the red thumb button... I only hear the pump prime when I hit the starter button... I know some people just use the key to kill the motor which leaves the red thumb button in the ON state so as soon as you turn the key, the pump primes.
  19. It's not even a wobble... Many variables can cause this so called "tiny shimmy".. It's not tied to one thing... For me it was as simple as moving the forks up in the clamps a tiny bit... Others swear by a tire pressure, other swear it's the handguards or the owner had death lock grip on the handlebars, some swear it cured by upgrading suspension, others swear it's the icky stock tires... Never heard of the bike having any type of wobble/shimmy at low speeds... This only happened when one goes past 115mph or so... yes I noticed a slight shimmy at high RPMS ( mine is set to 9.75k rpms to trigger the shift light) when using the QS I can feel the front end trying to pull the front wheel off the ground-***gotta be due to power of the bike and the gyroscopic forces of the engine at that speed***that's makes a slight shimmy effect for me... When the rpms come down a bit after banging thru the gears the effect goes away... For me the bike is stable up to 155mph after moving the forks up a bit... Later years 2018+ got an extra 2" in swingarm length...
  20. I been lucky so far( knocks on wood)... I have always just cracked the axle nut open just enough to do chain adjustment, but I barely have to do chain adjustments, only like 3-4 times in 9k miles... Now it's been 4yrs since I brought the bike and it's time for new wheel bearings, spacers, tires, might as well put a new axle bolt in and the Gilles axle nut... If the stars align at the end of the year- aftermarket suspension 🙏...
  21. The quality is very top notch but the axle nut they make is what I like... factory race team quality by my standards... No more of them little tangs inside the nut to strip the axle if they catch... That's what I totally hate...
  22. For the peeps who wanna get in on this deal, I can help out by sending a PM to Bellissimoto with your PayPal email and your user name used here on the forum... As far as I know the group buy is still going on for a bit, not like it's gonna end this Friday... Very nice vendor and the owner is also owns a Tracer900... Where are you hiding @pgeldz ? 🙈🙉🙊... ********Only the axle nut and hand controls are the same between the mt-07 and FJ/tracer900 for this group buy selection******* I know they also share a few more parts as I own both bikes but for those who wanna verify... I looked at the 2015, 2017, and 2019 years at random to see if they changed... OEM axle nut p/n= 95602-10200-00 OEM clutch lever p/n= 5EB-83922-00-00 OEM front brake lever p/n= 5VS-83922-00-00
  23. AGV K5 helmet- I like it vs my old HJC one( I forgot the style)... It was lighter, had a chin skirt, inner sun visor, I could use my eye glasses, enough vents and like 3 different inserts for how the face shield clicked/stay where you wanted it, ie: cracked open a few mm or a cm at minimum... Face shield comes off/on very easy to clean... And it was a decent price that would not hurt the wallet if I had to buy another one soon if I wrecked that helmet... Noise lvl??? I dunno ðŸĪ”- I will leave that to people with better hearing than me...
  24. ...Find out your head shape first- not all brands will stock that shape... ...Then look for at least SNELL rating... There is no favorite helmet but General consensus says Schuberth is very quiet(I wouldn't know) I don't mind the "noise" as I am totally hard of hearing, so I go for comfort/cost as AGV has fit the bill for me... my helmets(road/dirt) get replaced every 3yrs on average unless it's been in an accident which gets replaced right away... I do go to motorcycle shops to try on helmets just to see how they fit my head shape and if the price is better than online, I will buy from them...
