I've used several GIVI tank bags, but this is my current one:

    https://giviusa.com/collections/tank-bags/products/st610-10ltr-tanklock-tank-bag

I like the form-factor and the size is perfect for my EDC items (alternate gloves, water bottle, bungie net, multi-tool, hat, tire repair kit, etc), with a bit of expansion, when needed. It works as either tank bag or tail bag (with seat adapter). I would have preferred an adjustable bungie strap on top to the elastics, but works for attaching small items (I have my gas card: https://www.aerostich.com/gascard.html on there with a carabiner).

Any pics of it on the bike?

10L is a bit bigger than I was looking at.

If the new bike has a little more plush suspension, I think it would be worth the upgrade. Slightly better wind management and perhaps less of an engine "hunting" feel when freeway touring and it'd be just about perfect.

My '21 is leaps and bounds better than my 2019 in the suspension department. Really big improvement there.

As for wind management, an MRA screen sorts that out.

Never had an issue with the engine hunting...

It's a Honda CB1000R.  Nice bike thats light and maneuverable but I've grown accustomed to the slightly linger wheelbase of the Tracer so I feel more comfortable pushing it through the corners.  I know that's a but counterintuitive but it's a matter of how you're used to riding.

Nice. Cool looking bike for around town.

Nope - I totally get it.

The Tracer is more like a dirt bike with those wide bars.

I don't know about you, but my knee-dragging days are past me now. 🙂

I would keep the 900GT for commuting and use the other one for touring.  It's not that one couldn't do both, but I'd likely get the taller screen and top box and some other touring goodies for it.

I have a rule about selling one bike if I am purchasing another.   It still makes sense to sell the inline four and keep the old tracer if I go with the new bike because it simply sits in the garage since I picked up the Tracer.

    What's your i4 bike @Jayzonk?

That'd be awesome if the new 9 GT+ comes to Canada.  There's so much refinement in the new model that it should be catching some major interest among bike shoppers and the adaptive cruise amd radar put it in the league of high tech bikes.  I love my 2020 and am considering getting the GT+ if it comes but just keeping the '20 as well.

I really like my 2021 GT. Not sure it would be worth trading in for the "+". Adaptive cruise is neat on a car, but not sure I need it on my bike. The new TFT screen would be nice, but to be honest I don't mind the "wonky" dash on my GT. But I like new things. 🙂

Thanks, and congrats on your new bike! I added a windscreen from MRA to make it a bit quieter and am looking into seat options now. Not that the standard one is that uncomfortable, I just can't do long rides on it.

    MRA Sport or Touring?

I have both - but have always ran the Sport as it allows clean air to flow. I am trying the Touring with Vario lip out shortly and may take on my trip to WV next month if it works as well.

About 2h at a leisurely pace (not spare part left), and another hour for the re-key. Instructions are crap and some of the panel removals aren't intuitive. Silver body pieces slide forward when removed - not simple clip-ons. Paneer hanger bolts were a b*tch and had to be aligned properly when re-installed - I used a #5 allen key to keep it in place.

    @kiseliok

Would either of you be willing to take a picture of where the pannier/side bag meets the stay (extension of the rear foot peg bracket). After re-installing the pannier rack holders, I wanted to make sure that they are lined up properly. I used the same technique as above (using a screwdriver that fit through the black loop and the holder. At rest, my side case rests against the outer portion of the stay and there is a gap on the inside (bike side)...which I think is normal, but I can't recall. I know they are supposed to "float" and move around, but wasn't sure of the position "at rest". I'm attaching a pic of mine on the right hand side (when sitting on bike - so non-chain drive side)

Thanks in advance for your help!

  8. Awesome write-up @piotrek!

The one thing that I took away from this was your comment around visiting your old neighbours, and how only 3 short years after retiring, he is facing a life threatening disease. I think this is a great reminder to us all to not put off until tomorrow what we really want to do in this life (I know I am terrible for this) as you just never know.

Your trip report is an inspiration for others to do just exactly this!

    Thank you for sharing.

Hi Heavy and thank You. Just thinking that maybe that I should try stock windscreen first. Also after some reading it seems like this particular Givi windscreen if it fits 2019 GT it might not fit 2019 base model. Does it come with all mounting hardware. Also how much would you ask for it?

I think I have the stock one from my 2019.

    Lemme check.

Whatever their reasoning, remember that Yamaha did the same thing in 2018.  Yamaha did not release a 2018 Tracer in North America when transitioning from the FJ09 to the Gen II Tracer GT.  (I'm not 100% certain about Canada but there was definitely no '18 model in the U.S.)

    I am remaining optimistic for a 2024 model Tracer9 GT+.

In Canada, there was a 2018 Tracer 900.

The first GT model came out in 2019.

The problem with me asking a question about optional accessories is it presents me with more items to consider. 🙄

I wear a skull cap under my helmet which reduces swamp head and helps keep my helmet clean. I'm so impressed with it I will probably pick up some of their base layers.

I searched for the brand above but couldn't find anything. Are you able to share the link?

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've had my Tracer for 2 seasons now and I love it. I traded my 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 for this bike. I haven't looked back since. I'm located in Quebec. We got some snow yesterday but the street are clear now. As I mentioned in another post, I've just installed my Givi crash bars. I had a lot of fun with that. One of the bolts that came with the bars was the wrong size. I had to contact the vendor who in turn contacted the manufacturer. Long story short I received the correct size bolt today and I've installed the bars. Oh, did I mention that I stripped the engine supporting bolt on the first try, and had to order that. It also came in and now everything is honky dory. I just need to know how tight to tighten the bolts. Lots of fun.

    Hey @Lonerider

How long did you have your N1K for? I had a 2013 and a 2017 before I picked up my 2019 Tracer 900 GT. I now ride a 2021 Tracer 9 GT (the 2019 was written off). I love these bikes. Far more fun and flexible than the Kawi's imo. And I was a dyed-in-the-wool Kawi guy (had several ZX-14, ZX-12 and ZX-9R).

Were you a member of any of the N1K forums?

Do you have the torque spec for the engine bolt? I can get you that if you need and a copy of the 900GT service manual if you want.

The white color is nice but the grey not so much.  Also remember that the side cases have the matching panels in Europe and not in the USA or Canada, we get black and a reflector.

These can be ordered in from Europe - I actually ordered a set for my '21 Icon Performance. I thought they were silver, but ended up being the white ones - which is wild as the new bikes weren't announced at the time. I was going to get them wrapped in silver.

Looking good Yamaha and they are obviously listening, do still hate that underbelly exhaust though. Just being picky here, but for the higher price why not also add in Brembo brakes, hydraulic clutch, "really uncork that engine" and car play? Yup, now I would for sure buy another with those changes!!!! :)

A belly pan or gravel guard/bash plate covers up/distracts from the exhaust.

I personally think the stock exhaust on the Tracer 9GT sounds great while riding. My uneducated guess is that the sound bounces off the ground and back up at the rider which is cool.

I do like how the GT+ has 2 color options: 1-Power Grey and 2-Icon Performance (which is the original silver/blue with blue wheels). And now they updated the original GT with: 1-Pure White and 2-Midnight Black, both with the gold color wheels. So no more red or camo color for '23.

I really do like the gold color look, but what I'm noticing is they've matched painted the side cases outer portion.

Really sharp color schemes for '23 models! I might have to paint match my side case outer portion.

I do like the white bike with gold wheels.

I'm meh on the Power Grey and the new Icon Performance has a weird fade effect from black to silver on the tank, silver side panels and front fender. I prefer the black side panels, fender and solid silver tank...but I am biased! 😉

Just thinking out loud here... Since the Tracer continually evolves more and more toward touring comfort/amenities and since the FJR1300 (and Honda's ST1300) has been discontinued, I really wish that they additionally offered the Tracer as a slightly larger package, maybe 1100cc along with the 900 and 700 Tracers, like Honda does with their adventure line, 500x, 750 Transalp and 1100 Africa Twin.

Owning both the smaller 900 and a larger VFR1200x adv/touring bike (and riding them back to back quite often), I enjoy having the option of a large, sturdy, planted, relaxed feel of a larger FJR, C14, Versys 1000 style bike while on longer highway road trips.  I find the larger VFR extremely agile, with exceptional handling and light steering and its weight only rears its ugly head when the engine is off and I am pushing into or pulling out of the garage.

    I think a Tracer 1100 or 1200 GT+ would be awesome.  Am I crazy? 🤷‍♀️

I keep hearing that the FJR is being discontinued, and yet there is a 2023 model on Yamaha Canada's website.

I'd be all for a larger displacement Tracer if they managed to keep it a triple...like the Sprint ST/GT. I'm so addicted to that triple engine and it's characteristics.
