  1. Glad you're ok after that. I have an extra front fender if you want it. It has some small paint blemishes (defective factory finish), but not real noticeable. Yamaha replaced mine under warranty.
  2. You don't need a front stand. Use the center stand and put something heavy on the rear rack (if you have one) to lift the front.
  3. This is my solution for hot weather. The Frogg Toggs pack small, are waterproof and breath well. Several years ago I did a loop around Lake Superior. Rain every day. The Frogg Toggs with my mesh gear underneath kept me comfortable and dry. They look kind of goofy, but work well. Cheap too! For cooler weather, my Aerostitch Darien gear is called into service.
  4. Sorry for the "performance award". 🙁 I go to the area usually twice a year. Stopped doing the Dragon years ago because of the shear number of bad riders and cops. There are so many great alternatives to the Dragon, and knowing that the cops are busy there, I can ride most of them without worrying about being ticketed or having to deal with incompetent riders.
  5. I used a dental pick to gently pry off those push-retainers. Same ones used on my FJ-09
  6. I use Plexus with a microfiber cloth. Both on the visor and windshield. Keep a can in the top box.
  7. There are so many other great roads all around western NC and eastern TN. I prefer them as they are less frequented by other riders, and since the police are preoccupied with Dragon antics, they're less likely to be in those other areas. Now, I only go to the Dragon if I am riding with someone who hasn't been there yet. Got to do it to get the sticker.
  8. I assume the bike is under warranty. Make the dealer replace the mirror.
  9. Finished up my lighting project today, but not without a hiccup, some rethinking and rewiring. Kinda blingy, but kinda cool too. I like it.
  10. They are running lights. You could use them as turn signals as well, but figuring out how to wire them as switch backs is beyond me.
  11. I ended up removing the side panel and running the power leads behind it back to my switched fuse block. TRS connectors under the seat and the USB doubled back to the GPS mount. The 595 is a nice unit, but I don't understand why Garmin veered away from incorporating the extra connectors into the GPS mount. The Zumo 550 arrangement was much better in that regard, IMO. I also miss the ability to lock the GPS to the mount, which is not a feature of the 595.
  12. I have a switched fuse block under the passenger seat that I can use if I decide to go that route. It's just that the power leads in the front are so much more accessible. That said, I'll probably go ahead and remove the tank in order to route the wires to the back.
  13. That's kind of what I was thinking. My old 550 was connected to switched power behind the windshield. Wanted to do that again, but the connectors would be exposed if I went that route. Maybe I can find some rubber caps to go over them. I don't want to have to take the tank off if I don't have to.
  14. Anyone installed this GPS? If so, what did you do with the medusa of media dongles on the wiring harness? They don't look like they should get wet.
  15. In fact there was one for sale on ebay from Lithuanian for $60US but I wasn't sure about that so I forked out the cash for a powerbronze. Direct copy of the Powerbronze design... in fiberglass.
  16. I put a new one in last week, but it's been rainy and before that, too cold to ride. Hope it can keep its charge 'till conditions improve. BTW, how old was your battery? Mine made it short of 3 years.
  17. Admittedly, the thread does occasionally wander slightly off topic. Sorry to have sullied your notifications. We'll try to do better in the future. BTW, to fully cement your protest rights, you might consider a paid membership.
  18. Didn't you guys have snow this week?Didn't make it this far south, but it was pretty cold for us here in Central FL. Three days in a row with mornings below freezing are enough 'winter' for me. Should start to warm tomorrow.
  19. Well then, I'm not feeling so bad about 28* this morning in FL. LOL
  20. The high-dollar beak and the enormously higher-dollar Akra exhaust are my favorite non-performance enhancing mods!
