  1. Youtube has many videos on how to re pin locks so one key will fit all bags and match the ignition. Not really that hard and worth a try if you wish to fix your situation. Key re-pin thread
  2. Since I was able to re -route the front turn signal wires back towards the bars I'm thinking of trying some bar mounted mirrors with turn-indicator and running lights. Found some KiWAV Lucifer Neat Stem Sequential Mirrors that look good. From Marie at KiWAV.... And yes the mirrors are compatible with most Yamaha motorcycles. https://kiwavmotors.com/en/parts/controls/mirrors/turn-signals/led-neat-stem-mirrors-lucifer-with-sequential-effect-black-for-yamaha-detail Could you kindly help to verify if your mirror mounts are 10mm clockwise threaded and anti-clockwise threaded? The mirror itself are clockwise threaded on both left and right side mirrors, but we include a pair of adapters to convert them to 1 clockwise and 1 anti-clockwise threads. Here is the dimensions drawing and 1:1 real size PDF for your reference. Please help to check if they are the good size for your bike. https://kiwav.com/kiwavebay/product/01/mirror/LuciferLED-FI/KiWAVmotors-mirror-luciferFI-led-full-scale-measurement.pdf https://kiwav.com/kiwavebay/product/01/mirror/LuciferLED-FI/luciferFI-10S10R-size.jpg For wiring, there are 3 wires, one for ground, one for the amber led and one for the white led. You can connect the amber and white led how you'd like. You can have them both for running light or both for turn signals. Or one for running light, one for turn signals. It's pretty flexible.
  3. Nice solution... Mark maybe you could tell us what you used and where it can be purchased?
  4. Excellent idea. Do you have a product number the the material you used. Great Job!
  5. I did the trade when bikes were scarce and they gave me $9500 for it on paper. With $4000 off the list price for a left over 2019 Niken GT I was a happy camper, and 3 year warranty from Yamaha. 🙂
  6. Finally removed the stock mirrors/turn indicators and replaced with spot lights. I'm pretty happy with the stock light output so these are more for conspicuity. I made the block-off plates and spot light brackets from a piece of alum-flat 1/8"X2"X3' from home depot. Tools used were hacksaw, some files and a drill with bits. The finish is just rattle can black matt paint for now. I connected the spots to the spare connector behind the windshield with a splitter from ebay. I really like the stock mirrors/turn indicators and hope to mount them on the handle bar so I rerouted their wires there. Just got to design a mount that screws into stock handle bar mirror holders. In the meantime I have turn indicators in the handguards. Purchased the lights from a forum member and total cost for this project is approx $85.
  7. I installed one on my 2017 FJ-09. Great printed step by step picture instructions included with product. The only thing I would say differently to draco-1967 is that I had no electrical experience before installing mine. It was very satisfying when everything worked as advertised with changing/adding pins to connectors etc. It was and education in its self, highly recommended. See this thread...
  8. See page 4-14 of the Owners manual. It may depend on what selections you have up on the display?
  9. Got some miles in today and found myself halfway around a lake behind 2 cars doing 30mph when the Trip F came on, hadn't seen that before . When the fuel gauge started flashing I was trying to remember if I should have one gallon left. At 20miles FTE I was sweating but made it 26.2 miles to a station that had premium non-ethanol gas. Pumped 4.274 gallons @ $5.849/G. I think I would be comfortable going 30 beyond the flash if there is a next time😟 Pic is from immediately after I filled up...
  10. Got my side stand shortened after lowering the Niken. Played around with a few different pieces of board under the wheels until the side stand provided the best lean angle. 1.25" / 32mm seemed best so had the stand reduced in length by 1 1/4". Cut side stand and steel bar inserted inside for strength, weld and powder coat for $60. Very happy with it as the 'finger' had to be removed and welded back on also. A splash of paint on the foot plate and all is like new again.
  11. Jump ahead to 15 minute mark and listen to where the Yamaha tech says 12000 miles (or 5-6 years). Niken Service
  12. Your signature is still showing MT-09 SP which made me wonder why the rack wouldn't fit your bike, and then I saw you have a new bike. Welcome back.

Thanks, Heli.   I too noted this recently: it's not actually the sig line that's incorrect but the wording in the panel beneath the avatar that has remained unchanged (pic below).  I wasn't going to be too picky about this as I couldn't find how to remove or correct it, but maybe now someone can advise.   TIA.

  13. Fuel Injection Light and Malfunction Indicator Light or Lamp, which is like a check engine light. The FI light is the equivalent of a CEL in your car. The ecu has detected an abnormality with one of the sensors, check the code and see what's up. The check engine light, often referred to as the Malfunction Indicator Lamp or MIL, allows the PCM to alert the driver that an emissions related problem has occurred or is currently occurring. The check engine light is located on the dashboard panel and is colored red or yellow.
  14. I can't believe my 2017 FJ-09 is still sitting at the dealer I traded it in to 4 months ago. Many farkles, to include McCruise control and heated grips. Pic shown is from Yamaha. 2017 FJ-09
  15. Brings new meaning to 'my Niken is music to my ears' 😁
  16. Always thought the stock Niken lights were great, then had the bike lowered and the low beams were too high. Looked in the owners and service manual for a how too, and only found where the adjustment screws are. Searched online and learned that you park on a level surface about 25ft from something like a garage door. Measure from the surface to the center of the headlight. The Niken has separate high and low beams, so I measured to the center of the lows, which was 33 inches. Now adjust the lights until the low beam is 2 inches lower than that on the garage. Took her out for a ride and it was a big improvement and back to where she was before the bike was lowered. The cut off for the LED's on the Niken is a straight line so this was an easy fix. Pic is before adjustment.
  17. Anyone try the Tank Bag Sport and tank bag ring listed under the EU Yamaha Niken accessories page? I'm thinking of getting them but need a positive review before I order from Europe. Tank Bag Sport and Mounting Ring
  18. Duckie is right, you got to be above 4000rpm, 5000 is better.
  19. I have a quick-shifter on my 2019 Niken and added the OEM quick-shifter to my 2017 FJ-09 and both work/worked great. They shift changes are really smooth over 4000rpm, below that they can be clunky. FWIW the manual calls for use above 12mph and 4000rpm. I had issues when I installed the one on my 2017 until I made a few slight changes to the rod travel length. Easy install and fun to have.
  20. I just sold a Corbin seat, back rest and cover through ebay for $500. That became $433 after ebay fees. Shipping was $54 through UPS. Post office quoted $76. Fedex wanted $93. Pick the smallest box and make it as light as possible as price is based on weight and size. My box was 32" long and 18" wide, but UPS measured it as 34x19" as it was bulging and that bumped the price by $8. I didn't know about Wednesday being cheaper, something to keep in mind.
