I wanted to see if a standard tank ring (not offset) would fit on the Niken so I picked up a SW Motech tank ring model TRT.00.640.11000/B. With the City bag installed full lock of the bars is restricted. With the Engage bag installed the bars just make contact with the sides of the bag. I dont have the smaller Micro bag but my calculations suggest it would fit without causing a restriction using the 640 ring. The CITY bag I purchased was a display model and had the top ring was installed so as to move the bag all the ways back towards the seat. Combined with the offset tank ring it was to close to me for comfort. Since the 640 ring didn't solve the problem I repositioned the top ring on the bag to move the bag fully forward and now everything feels good. 2019 Niken is a huge improvement over the 2017 FJ-09 in throttle response.

Got in a couple of hours today as temps were high 40's. Very happy with the Powerbronze screen now that it's 2 inches shorter (see post above). I can see over the screen and still let my helmet visor open doing 70 on the highway. I wasn't able to tell if there was less noise as I had a balaclava on under the Shoei helmet. Also this was my first ride with the SW-Motech City tank bag installed. I was expecting it to get in the way but I didn't even notice it once I got going. Tomorrow will be cleaning day, I didn't see any real bad spots on the road which you would expect this time of the year. Not having been out in a few weeks I got the menus mixed up. Heated grips were on three and were way too hot. I adjusted them and they didn't cool down. When I looked down I had changed into mode 1 instead of heated grip level one. Another reason to get out more. 😆

I like it. You will have to paint the beak to match when you add it. Oh.. the Beak 🙄

I was on the lookout for a SW-Motech Engage Tank Bag but settled for the City one as the EVO ringed Engage is out of production. The tank ring for the Niken is an off-set type and I was afraid it would push the bag too far aft for comfort. The bag I purchased from SW- Motech was a return and was setup for aft position installation. I moved the hardware under the bag to have it sit further forward. The aft position was a bit close to my body and while manageable it might have been a little cramped when wearing full rain gear. The forward position looked a lot better and gave me more room to scoot forward on the seat, which I need to do often when stopping on uneven ground with my short inseam. As it turned out I found an EVO Engage bag which is a little smaller and I should have it next week. I will decide if the off-set tank ring works well with it, or if I will try a standard tank ring which sits on top of the fuel cap. I looked up the part number for the Niken fuel cap and found it is used in many different Yamaha Motorcycles. 39P-24602-00-00 This should help in finding a standard (non off-set) ring as the EVO parts are becoming scarce. SW-Motech's new line to replace the EVO is the PRO and that line does not appeal to me even though they are said to be water proof. No restriction with turning handlebar full left or right with city bag installed in forward position.

After using up the first tank of gas the came the came in my bike, I've managed to only add ethanol free gas to the tank for the last 3000 miles or so. Should I add fuel stabilizer for winter storage?

The TPMS listed as an accessory for the Niken has only two sensors. It is identical to the Steel Mate TP-901 Pro which says the sensors are marked front and rear. I'm guessing it can't be made to work with the three wheels on the Niken? Steel-Mate TPMS

Unless you are planning to take it out for 20 minutes after each start let it alone. Moisture will build up in engine and your exhaust will rust sooner. Winter Storage

I used the thinnest metal carbon blade I had. I didn't clamp the windshield, just laid it on a workbenck as pictured above and held it with my non cutting hand. Maybe clamping would have giving a straighter cut but sanding took care of my inaccurracies. I kept the piece I cut off to use as a templet should I decide to take more off after a ride.

While the PowerBronze windscreen is a huge improvement over stock, the top of the screen was at eye level. I was OK to look through the screen until it rained and then had to sit up to look over it. After looking at a few videos on You-Tube of people cutting windscreens I decided to pull out my Jig-Saw. Most videos showed people cutting winshields on the bike but I took the screen off the bike first. The project was so much easier than I expected with the screen off the bike for about 40 minutes. Taping and marking the cut line took about 30 minutes to get it just right. The cutting took about 2 minutes, and 15 minutes to sand the edge. Started with 60 and followed with 600 and 1500 grit sandpaper. I'm very happy with the result. Not able to ride now as its snowing but will update after a test ride. I removed 2".
