  1. Interested to hear how you feel she rides before and after lowering. Can you share your weight and how many clicks you have on the suspension front and rear? Four rearview mirrors... there's your extra weight 😁
  2. Excellent work, looking forward to seeing some pics of the side cases installed?
  3. Don't do it, (unless you got the cash). 😁
  4. That sucks. It's so frustrating to spend good money for bad service.
  5. You can pick up a factory service manual on ebay. The digital one is pretty inexpensive and does the job.
  6. Welcome to the form. I also was attracted to the Z650RS, if only for that green paint. Let us know what year FJ-09 you got and if the stock quickshifter or an aftermarket model is installed. You can lot of good info that can be found through the search bar. Try this...
  7. I stand corrected and my manual says 4K and accelerating. I must have something in my head for a different model. Thanks for the clarification. I have experienced clunky shifts with low RPM's but never have a problem above 5K.
  8. So it seems that even though 'QS' was not illuminated the quick-shifter was still operationable? Why does the owners manual states that the QS is for use on gears 4-6. I can use the QS from 1-6 as long as the RPM are above 5k. (Incorrect info, see below for correction)
  9. Talk about gold wheels and paint... While on a work trip I saw a 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS in green with gold wheels. She had been on my mind all week. I have a Suzuki VanVan 200 that is not getting ridden so today I rode to Kawa dealer that has the 50th edition Z650RS reduced to sell. When I saw the Red/Brown of the 50th edition it did nothing for me. Thats when I realized it was the green paint I liked. I always thought I would like Matte paint on a vehicle, but my Niken GT in matte blue is hard to clean. I wonder how the Niken would look in the Kawa Z650RS green and gold?
  10. I'm not too crazy about the non waterproof soft side bags that came with the Niken GT, so I installed a Shad 58X Expandable Top Case. Plenty of room for 2 XL helmets and with the 50/50 weight distribution on the Niken I don't notice it back there.
  11. The 'Crampbuster Cruise Assist' is a simple idea that works well. https://www.motosport.com/product/?cc=us&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhM_Flr2P_wIVVRCtBh13QQ0IEAQYAyABEgK7NPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&key=Crampbuster-Cruise-Assist&pssource=true&segment=badger&utm_medium=pla&utm_source=google&variant[CBS0001]=CBS0001-X001-Y003
  12. How about that windshield? Glad to hear you are back on the saddle.
  13. Sort of a strange thread but looks like someone has parted out a Niken and has the parts for sale on eBay... C3 Cycle Tech on eBay
  14. Big cleanup today after doing 400 miles yesterday. Planned on about 250 but was having way too much fun to stop. Part of my 'problem' was that my Garmin Zumo kept re-routing me to the next exit whenever I got on the highway. I checked all settings and don't see any reason for it to do that. Any suggestions?
  15. Today a guy was waiting when I came out of a store to tell me he was surprised to see two bike parked so close together, before he realised it was one Niken.
  16. 2019 Niken GT averaging 46mph over first 3850 miles on bike using mode 2 and TC2. Maybe 150miles of that had a pillion with no luggage. Ethonol free fuel only.
  17. Based on the recommendations here I swapped out the rear stock tire today for a Pirelli Angel GT at 3850 miles. TC 2 and Mode 2 mostly. Not agressive, except maybe from a stop and quickshifting through the gears. Really surprised at how soft the center of the stock tire was once removed. Easy on the bank with a couple of unused gift cards from Christmas 🙄
  18. The front fork leg (41mm) is responsible for guidance and direction setting, maintaining a constant wheel track of 16.14 inches. Legally, that classifies the NIKEN as a motorcycle says Yamaha. Inside the front fork, there's only oil, with spring and damping duties handled by the larger 43mm diameter rear legs.
  19. I ended up buying the KLIM Outlander GTX boot in all black and have about 1000 miles on them. I have a wide foot and these fit very well with no discomfort. I used them one day to walk the dog in the rain after I got back from a ride and honestly they feel like high top sneakers. I would definetaly buy them again for their comfort and how light they feel. The BOA system with twist n go lacing is a breeze to use with gloves and saves fumbling with regular laces. I haven't ridden in heavy rain but the online reviews have one guy saying they were his only boots for an 8000 mile trip and he never had wet feet, while another guy siad he got wet feet because water got over the top. I guess its down to what pants you wear over them. I searched forever to get a discounted price but ended up paying almost full price and have no regrets due to them been excellent. I'm really 11.5 in EEE wide footwear, my Alpinstars were 12.5, but I was able to wear 12 in the Klim's as they are slightly wider. Reviews suggest going 1/2 size up. I would buy them again.
  20. I placed an order for Pirelli Diablo Rosso Scooter 120/70-15 56S Fronts and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 190/55ZR-17 75W Rear to find the fronts were out of stock are discontinued. Cancelled the rear as I would like to have a set, and may now try the Michelins.
  21. Maybe you might place one on a sheet of paper and draw an outline and include the dimensions for us that may wish to make our own?
