I recently got a Kawasaki KLX230. Modern features with linear power and capable for short highway runs with it's mid 70mph top speed it might be worth consideration.
  3. The following thread shows how to hook this vest up to the FJ/Tracer.
  4. Traded the VanVan for a KLX230S today. Advertised on Craigslist for sale and trade, and got a straight trade with a nice kid. Great experience. Already took it to a trail 2 minutes from my house that I would never put the Vanvan through. I think I can learn alot from the KLX. It's going to be hard to keep it clean 😁
  5. Yep, everyone should have a KLR in the stable! Bashing around off-pavement is highly entertaining and educational. And it makes you grateful for things like power and ABS. I'm considering an offer of a trade of my Suzuki VanVan 200 for a Kawi KLX230 to get some off pavement time. Would this be a good option for entertainment and education?
  6. Hi Norm, When I see 'Sold, in the title of your listing it makes one think that there is nothing left to see? Good Luck with the sale.
  7. I got out and rode today after almost 4 weeks off due to vacation. I had watched the Fortnine video on giving it beans a couple of weeks ago, and can say that on todays ride I cleaned the carbon out 😉
  8. Found this youtube video on the subject. I guess incorrectly using a quickshifter could cause damage too? You may be destroying your XMSN
  9. Here is a passenger backrest for the Niken, which look like a knock-off of the Yamaha Tmax 530 back rest discussed earlier in this thread. Pax BackRest for Niken
  10. Funny, I recently had a new Toyota rental with ACC and was really impressed as it had no false readings. When I tried ACC in a 2015 Volvo years ago I hated it for some of the reasons metioned above. The following video (posted earlier in another thread) shows how the ACC works at 5:30 min and gets high praise at the 31 min mark.
  11. Checkout the 'McCruise'. Excellent product and customer service. Pricey but worth it, if desired. https://www.mccruise.com/en-us/products/yamaha-mt-09-tracer-fj-09-new-throttle-by-wire-mccruise
  12. Help me to understand what 'poor shifting and riding technique' could cause a failure like this?
  13. I think you maybe be confusing miles and kilometers. 4k miles = approx 6k km's. MX Schedule
  14. https://www.tracer900.net/topic/9876-2017-mccruise-quick-shifter-heated-grips-problem/#comment-129609 I never got an explanation from the dealer after they fixed my FJ-09 on Yamaha's dime. Just that Yamaha agreed to fix it immediately as they had come across this issue in the past.
  15. It happened to me on a 2017 FJ09. Luckily I was able change to neutral to pull over. Engine stayed at max RPM till I turned the key off. Started up normal after a couple of minutes and continued home and it happened again. Put her on a trailer and found it was a known problem with Yamaha who said it was a fault regarding heated grips and quickshifter. Repairs were free of charge on Yamaha. There is a thread about it somewhere on the forum.
  16. If you cant get a part number for the part in question search eBay for push rivets etc. 9GT Parts Push Rivet Selection 90269-06001-00 Is it part number 48?
  17. Try 'Shoe Goo', it creates a waterproof seal if needed. If all else fails I recommend you upgrade to the Klim Outlander GTX. Pricey but well worth it. Light, wide fit and truly waterproof. https://www.klim.com/Outlander-GTX-Boot-3926-001?quantity=1&color=82&page=1&cur=USD
  18. Bhí mé i gCluain cúpla lá ó shin.
