  1. The unfortunate truth here. I recently picked up a pair of the pinlocks in July. After about 3000 miles with them I wouldn't say they are any better than the foam earplugs I bought in bulk. It's nice to be able to reuse them and clean them though. Part of me believes I need to switch out my OEM windshield before searching for something different because sometimes the wind noise is just killer. I've yet to try the pinlock on my other bike with out a windshield...perhaps I should.
  2. I haven't had any issues like that so far after ~4100 miles. Are the flat spots at any certain RPM?
  3. Same issue with the 2021, I have noticed about a 10% fudge factor in the speedometer after passing high score signs. I keep meaning to set up an app to see what the GPS is reading out comparatively but haven't yet. If I do I will try to remember to report the results.
  4. For a long time I would just use regular jeans for comfort at the expense of their health in the event things got wild. I have a pair of Fly overpants that are waterproof which I would use in colder weather and rain, I really don't like having two zippers though in case of a greasy breakfast. I just recently picked up Dainese's Drake Air Textile pants though and wore them basically two weeks straight in the heat. Great for summer riding and touring. I wouldn't hesitate to imagine in cooler weather with a base layer they'd be great as well because you can close the main vents on the thigh. I don't believe they are waterproof though.
  5. The 2021 has their digital readouts on fuel consumption/fuel economy and such, which are neat to see but I haven't put pen to paper yet to check how accurate those readings are. Unfortunately due to my ability to do math, it may be even more suspect if I do go that route. It has been reading around 48mpg out on average. Hoping that holds true and keeps up though! If I remember to check next time i'll chime back in.
  6. Hopefully he shows up, I want to see this set up. We'll try not to scare him off if he does.
  7. That's the plan, figure out how much I don't know continually 🤣. Starting into the Puget Sound area tomorrow to see some family over the weekend. From there I am swinging back across the state to the WW Valley to pick my cousin up who will be riding alongside me. We are heading down the West Coast, starting off on the desert side and will hit through the Great Basin and the Mojave until we end up out in the LA area to see a friend. From there we'll will be hugging the coast on the way back north jumping inland here and there to see friends and family along the way, or whatever else may divert our limited attention spans.
  8. Finished my break in miles for the first 600mi on the new 2021. Did the oil and looked everything over and will do another once over today as I outfit it for a 2 week tour. A bit bummed the side cases haven't come in yet but I will make do with what I have. I plan on adjusting my foot controls even more to get it just right tonight, first I had an issue with my riding boots fitting and now I am not getting as positive of an upshift as I'd desire.
  9. It's bricked, probably going to have to pay someone to take it off your hands. Holy cow this thread is 7 months old!
  10. I only have 50 miles on mine so far and I feel the same about the brakes. The rear was almost non existent to start with! By the end of the 50 though there was a marked improvement but not enough to say they are good yet.
  11. Picked mine up today finally, ordered back in November. I can truly be a part of this forum now 🤣. What a machine, I wish I had previous experience with the previous generations to give a proper review with comparisons justice but I am only 50 miles in on it so I couldn't even give an honest stand alone review. Living in Northern Idaho, it's unfortunate the A/C didn't seem to be working today (I saw 110 🥵). I have a West Cost tour coming up here in a few weeks and this will be the ride of choice, happy it made it in, unfortunately the panniers are backordered. Anyone else in the U.S. having the same issue?
  12. I'm still looking for a "skid" plate. Any insights? Hopefully taking delivery of mine this week 🤞.
  13. I thought it was going to be him from the last 3 laps 🤣. This was during FP2 I believe...
  14. Couldn't you have just lost the red indicator on the handle, none the wiser 🤣.... Awesome journey though, how do we sign up for the next ride?
  15. I know discussions of engine break-in live in the same dark corner that politics and religion and other topics live in.... but the manual does specifically state that RPM's above 5300 should be avoided for "prolonged" amounts of time... As long as you're not pinning it for miles on end, you'll be just fine.
  16. @rlambke19 Congratulations! I am hoping to have the same good news sooner than later. Excited to hear your thoughts more fleshed out in the future!
  17. Don't worry everyone, I checked google maps, story checks out! Looks beautiful by the way!
  18. For anyone interested looks like you can take a peek at the owner's manual now as we wait!
  19. I've noticed there is definitely a difference in car vs bike sales. Car sales seems to be much more pressing in terms of getting you to buy something knowing that most people in the lot probably have more needs than wants compared to a bike dealership. The last two bike processes have been easier overall with me knowing what I want and going for it. I imagine sales staff at dealerships get a lot of window lookers naturally, so they tend not to press as much. I am not sure what sales figures either are trying to hit in comparison either. I will agree though with bike sales, their excitement doesn't match the buyers in the slightest, for better or worse. We want the luxury rec item, by yesterday preferably. Again as has been mentioned in this thread the availability of information on menial purchases such as socks from amazon has spoiled us a bit for sure.
  20. My dealer is still saying May, though they don't know when in May yet.
  21. Best wishes to you going forward. It's a decision I believe that many of us don't want to make. In the meantime we can only get out more, see more roads and have more adventures while we can. I'll take your post as inspiration to fill my cup with more of it going forward!
