  1. Been using mag tank bags for years, nary a scratch. Clean and wax the tank and check to see if you have any metal objects on the bag before placing it on the tank. The fring lock ones seem nice at first but they hold less for the same external size like an 8L is about the same size as a 12L mag bag. You still have to take either off to gas up but the mag bag tether strap lets you hang it down.
  2. The bottom mount is supposed to have some free float to enhance the bike's handling. Just be sure that it's in the correct position.
  3. Bag liners for the side cases when traveling otherwise I keep them empty to store my helmet and groceries. I use soft tackle cases for my tooks, inflator, jump starter, and other miscellaneous items in the top case as well as stuff sacks for the rain gear.
  4. I forgot to mention that the Bridgestone T32 tires feel good and similar to the Michelin Road 5 I had on my FZ-1. They have a bit over 8K miles and have plenty of tread left. I may ride conservative which may be why but no flat center in the rear. I did get screen protectors for the dash to prevent scratching them.
  5. Once you get used to the twin screen dash it really just disappears. The fuel gauge is funky but once you learn how thirsty the bike is it works. I find the seat and windscreen are very adequate and don't feel like spending hundreds of $ only to be disappointed. My only farkles were frame sliders, a SHAD 45L rear rack and top case, a Garmin Zumo XT and a dual USB device.
  6. My dealer will probably not order any GT + unless Yamaha makes them get one or two. The reason is that there is no market for Sport Tourers in the midwest or at least a very small market. The last Tracer they had sat for 6 months. The Midwest is a cruiser and HD market. The GT+ price starts to put it in the Road King area. Just my opinion.
  7. I'm still waiting for Yamaha accessories for the 2021 T9GT which are available in Europe and some in Canada.
  8. Didn't make it with 2&3, I was too sore to wear my helmet after oral surgery. As it turned out he didn't ride either. On the other hand another friend went out for a ride and went down injuring his
  9. I like the red but bought the liquid metal also a good looking bike. You will enjoy yours.
  10. Yes, really surprised because the anti-knock solution is to retard the ignition timing which will reduce mileage.
  11. My Nolan N100-5 is much quieter than my AGV K series full face. The AGV's vents make it sound like a jet plane.
  12. The 2019 Tracer 900 GT i used in the Pyrenees had no issues going from sea level to mountains. The EFI worked flawlessly.
  13. Yes, I feel that they are very similar in performance and wear.
  14. Road 5s are really good overall street tire. Had them on my FZ-01, they were great in the rain. I had about 12K miles and there was still a little life left in them, however, with the way you ride and your size expect about 8K or so from them.
  15. I have a Tourmaster Caliber riding pants. I always use them on long rides, the last one was in 460 miles of heavy rain from UP MI through WI and into Chicago. I was dry when I got home. My laminated jacket leaked at the pocket zippers but stayed dry inside, it's also a Tourmaster Transition 4.
  16. I spent a week on a 2019 Tracer 900 GT while touring the Pyrenees. I sold my 2012 FZ-1 and purchased a 2021 T9GT and have over 8K miles on it. As far as I can tell both Tracers are very similar. However, the newer one's QS works in both directions. That would be the biggest change other than the engine and chassis.
  17. I don't commute since I retired a few years back but I do ride in heavy Chicago traffic and my 21 T9GT performs better than my old 13 FZ-1. I'm 5'9" and have no issue with the seat in the low position. MPG is variable anywhere from 38 to 50 mpg depending on traffic and roadway.
  18. Watch Doodle on a Motorcycle for short rider tips. She rides a Triumph GT which is about the same height as a Tracer. Lowering opens up a rabbit hole of mods.
  19. They do feel good and will improve braking with good pads. However, I had my rear line fail and lock up the rear brake., The inner tubing collapsed and wouldn't let fluid back to the master cylinder.
  20. Preload is set for my riding weight, 200lbs. Without the foot ext it leans just right.
