The seat survey to help answer which is best

Recommended Posts

Sargent on my 2020:

- 5 - Way more comfy then stock

- 4 - Slope is less but it still has some although it's not an issue.

Although now that I have my stock seat laying around I think I am going to send it to Seth Laam and get a custom seat. :)

Corbin 5 - 4 5 - 5 5 - 5
Yamaha comfort seat 4 - 4 4 - 4 4 - 4
Bagster  5 - 3 5 - 4 5 - _

Posts that did not use my scale

I have a Yamaha heated comfort seat and am quite happy with it. It came with the bike so I can’t compare. It’s comfortable and I don’t have slope issues.

Terry adcox custom seat front and rear, considerably more comfortable,  slope is a bit bettter.

Seat Concepts Sport Touring seat cover & foam kit: it is very firm, far more comfortable,  because the foam adds ~ 1/2", there is no slope at all any longer.  Great if you have a tall inseam.

I bought mine WITH a Sargent and swapped it for OEM. My entire right leg would go numb after 30 minutes on the Sargent, and I couldn’t feel my brake pedal. OEM sucks, but was preferable.

If you are handy with tools and have a 4.5" grinder or random orbital sander you can flatten out the stock seat and for me with no real ass flesh it is good for 500 miles  I have had multiple corbin, saddlemen and sargeant seats.  None worked as well for my puny butt as just flattening the stock seat to my own tastes.

Seat Concepts said this in their add:  "The forward slope from the stock seat has also been addressed by increasing the foam thickness at the tank."

So I asked them "Are you willing to say that you have gotten rid of all the forward slope? "

they replied:

"It is very hard for us to say it is resolved for everyone. With the forks being adjustable in the clamps, rear spring pre-load and rider weight causing a variable we cannot guarantee it. On the stock 19 we used, it was level for me."

True, not all bikes (even identical Tracers) ride at the same pitch angle or front and rear ride height.

  1. 4.5  - it is very firm, far more comfortable, and to steal someone else's description, the foam is deeply 'dished' which takes a bit to grow accustomed to.
  2. 5 - because the foam adds ~ 1/2", there is no slope at all any longer.  Great if you have a tall inseam.

I'm deeply curious about this one, and would really love to give your bike a sit at some point to see how that feels.

Absolutely!  It so happens my dad is in from BC, and I took next week off in hopes that we will do some riding.  If we come to Calgary I'd be happy to give you a heads up.

It certainly has been addressed in my opinion.  I haven't tuned the suspension whatsoever except to give the rear a bit of preload to compensate for gear on long rides.  I don't feel any slope at all, and I tend to carry my weight a bit more forward on the seat, more so on my pubic bone rather than cheek bones, if that makes sense.  MUCH more comfortable now.

CORBIN

[1] Compared to stock seat, it is
 5) considerably more comfortable

[2] Compared to stock seat,
 4) slope is a bit better

NOTE:  Didn't ride the bike for 1.5 years... then went on a trip Day 1 - 600 miles, following 4 days around 400 mile average.. last day 1145 miles in 16 hrs... the seat never even came to mind.  The mirrors though.. ugh!

Sorry buddy, but I think you forgot to mentioned which seat you are referring to?
