Popular Post Duanus
Man what a ride! I traded off my 2nd FJR for my tracer. I loved my FJR, so smooth. This triple pulls and pulls. I am excited for the rides to come. Yamaha makes some great stuff! 9

Supporting Member 2NDCHILDHOOD Posted April 23, 2022 Supporting Member Share Posted April 23, 2022 Congratulations! I came to my 2021 after owning an FJR too. I was afraid I would miss the power of the big inline 4 but the lighter CP3 has been just as much fun and easier to muscle around the garage. I trailered it up to Pennsylvania for a 4 day Easter weekend and some spirited riding with my brother-in-law up in the mountains there. He just bought a new FJR after trading in an FZ. I thought I would be left behind but the Tracer kept up with no problem. Enjoy! 1

The FJR is faster in terms of top speed, but very few riders are willing to push them that hard. The Tracer tends out out accelerate and outcorner the FJR though, so in practice it's usually a fair bit faster.
Duanus
Thanks for the welcome to your site. Just on the ride home from Woodinville I was grinning at how I comfy I was pushing it hard through the twisties.
PhotoAl
Congrats and welcome. I've often looked at the FJR but could never do the weight. Had a 2012 CBR600RR followed by a 2014 ZX6R 636 ABS. Loved those bikes, lots of power (when r'eved) and light weight so very nimble and flickable. Traded the ZX6R on a BMW F800GT which was a great bike and dropped into corners similar to the 600s. It wasn't slow but didn't have the zing was used to. Kept it for 2 years and 30,000 miles and traded it on my 2020 Tracer 900 GT. It's a great bike, all the good still like the BMW but lots of power like the 600s. I think it accelerates in the lower gears like my ZX6R did. At higher speeds and at the top of the rev range doesn't go like the ZX6R but it's got more torque lower. For me it is a perfect combination of long distance causing ability combined with the ability to go out and carve thru the corners. First 12 months we went Utah and Idaho (just barely) and then back to Butte Montana. It's been in 21 states so far. 2
vincep
Nice choice and have fun - sounds like you are already. If the new bike calls you to go out and ride that is a good thing.

Warchild
There are a ton of us moving from the FJR to the Tracer. After 2 decades and 4 generations of FJRs, I made the jump last year. This gorgeous matte blue FJR below was traded in for its smaller version 900 GT below the FJR pic: Yes, those are FJR1300 hard bags you see below - they fit natively on the Tracer GT model. 2

That is a pretty FJR…. I had the 2016 shined blue one. Interesting that the FJR bags fit the tracer.
Supporting Member 2NDCHILDHOOD Posted April 29, 2022 Supporting Member Share Posted April 29, 2022 It's my understanding the Tracer used to share the same cases and mounting system with the FJR up until 2021. The bike was totally re-designed in 2021 so I don't know if they would still fit. Can anyone confirm?
skipperT
Yes that’s correct. when the 9GT was released with the new engine, redesigned subframe and rear suspension, etc the bag figment changed. FJR or the “City” bags will no longer mount up. -Skip
