What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?

Recommended Posts

The reseller has advised me that NO SPECIAL TOOLS are required??? ... But as a precaution, I've ordered a fork oil level tool and a spring compressor.
Depends on your definition of "special tools" I guess. You'll also need a 14mm allen wrench to remove the front axle.  Most people don't have one, since most allen sets only go up to 10mm.
Some folks have gotten by with taking a bolt with a 14mm head and screwing a 14mm nut all the way up to the head in a jam nut config and using that.

It's preferable to have the right tool though.  I bought a set of 3 (12mm, 14mm and 17mm) for less than ten bucks from Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up ... I'd prefer to use the correct tools, esp as i've got plenty of time to order, and the cost is minimal.
I'll check my tool kit and will order a set, should i not have the correct size!

Added a large coffee and two donuts on the way to work.  Worth every penny
Fried cake? You take the boy out of Scotland...
This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is.

I learned my lesson early on. 20+ years ago I took home some restaurant leftovers in a styrofoam container that I wedged ahead of the triple clamp on my first bike (a Yamaha RZ500). I was cleaning jambalaya out of the front end of that bike for a year! I still chuckle when I see jambalaya on a menu. :)

How'd the other 1/2 find them? Are they an improvement over the stock pegs?
She's not been out on it yet it's still a bit 'cold' for her ;)  but she sat on it in the garage and it seems they make a big difference despite it only being 40mm. Suppose she'll want a 40mm extension for me too lol ::)

I know how you feel. I got so tired of the rain in Portland I drove 1200 miles to Death Valley. And if I do say so myself, and i do  P-) , it was totally worth it. We are expecting 4 more year sof rain in P-town but I have some nice memories stored up.

Sat on the FJ, opened the garage door and watched the snow build up on the driveway. Later I'm going to go to the drug store and watch them fill prescriptions.

Got the FJ 09 a stable mate.
2016 Versys 1000, sold the Ducati Multistrada.
The FJ 09 is so good I could not see keeping such an expensive bike when the FJ was 85% of the Multi.
I have added Traxxion suspension and done a reflash and with these two add-ons it really put the FJ over the top. No more Italian maintenance.
You may ask why a Versys when is so much like the FJ and a lot of buyers in the market actually compare the two for purchase.
Well the FJ is for my almost daily ride with my gray haired hooligan friends. The VK1 is for our longer multi-day rides when I take luggage and hopefully a young Swedish massage specialist as passenger. Also rock solid reliability and two of the best motors out there!!!
Love both bikes, also liked the Ducati but is was expensive to maintain. Over the next five years I will pay for half of the VK1 in upkeep cost.
Finally raining here in No. California so got my 600 break in miles before the rain, now an oil change some farkling and then the sun will shine and the riding will continue.
