Eskdalemuir in the Scottish Borders

With commitments going to keep me busy over the weekend I decided to take a short run out today to get Me my motorbike fix. Didn't have a particular destination in mind when I left home and took the road with less traffic heading allong it at My first set of traffic lights. Direction picked next thought was to head towards the Eskdalemuir valley and the Samy-Ling Buddist Monistary, second thought that the cafe in the centre might not be open so I stopped to pick up something for a quick lunch to have on route. What followed was a lovely spirited run down through Peebles and Innerleithan on fast A roads popular with Bikers and a quiet middle section on unclassified somtimes single track bits down to My lunch stop at Eskdalemuir. The Samy-Ling centre was as predicted closed to visitors so I stopped at a seat beside a bus stop stuck My pie in its paper bag on the exhaust  to heat up (that worked quite well and took my lunch from cold to the cool side of tepid in about 10 mins) Finally finished off with a fast run straight home allong the old A74 that runs parallel to the motorway.

P.S. I took a picture of a sheep for Stew coz I think he likes pictures of sheep.

That works well, I have done the same with foil-wrapped pizza before.

Cheers for the sheep, I will add it to my collection, now I have two :)

Glad you like the pic, My first attempt at sheep photography didn't turn out so well. Pulled over, dug camera out of pocket, zoomed in to frame the sheep and when I shouted "here sheepy sheep" to make it look at the camera it took off like a scalded cat. I can't imagine what the locals must do to the sheep down there to provoke that reaction. Then had to get off the bike to pick up my glove that had slipped off the tank and landed in the wee ditch at the roadside.

slightly worried that you are taking pictures of the rear end of sheep 😆

In My defence I was originally pointing the camera at the other end and it was Stew that started us off with the pictures of sheep. I wanted to make the picture more relevant by including a nice motorbike in the foreground but the wee buggers wouldn't stand still for me.

In my defence, I just thought a brown sheep was strange (and it turned out to be a real conversation starter)

Plus, sheep taste nice when cooked well.

I think we as a group should petition Yamaha to produce a small BBQ grill for the CP3 exhaust system.

It could mount just above the headers and flip up to protect the lower radiator when not  being used for cooking!

With a small pan you could fry eggs in the morning, grill a burger for lunch and roast breast of chicken for dinner.  You might even heat water for tea or coffee at a rest stop along the way.

And the constant spray from the front wheel would keep it clean.

Not motorcycle specific, but the ‘Manifold Destiny Cookbook’ is an entertaining read...
