  1. It's not a recall.. it's a TSB (technical service bulletin). There is a range of VINs affected. They are listed in the 1st post of this thread.
  2. I took a separate trip with my dad... http://i.imgur.com/xw3wcaX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vPwkRq2.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ub0r45c.jpg
  3. I think I may have posted these in our meetup thread, but here is @britelitebob, @1moreroad, and my FJ-09 in the smokey mountains. http://i.imgur.com/SGbjj4k.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Nof0WT2.jpg
  4. I'm glad you guys got to make that trip together. Very sorry to hear about your loss.
  5. I think these guys are just messing with you bentaero, when I ride the twisties my front tires are gone at around 4,500 max. And when I go cross country with a lot of straight roads my rear is done around 5,000 miles or so running dual compound sport touring tires. And I think building a trailer to save your tires is an excellent idea. Well, I've ridden with you @britelitebob in the mountains... lets just say Im surprised that your tires even last that long . Looking forward to another meetup in the future.
  6. I will be doing something similar in a little over 2 weeks! I hope you are happy with the results.
  7. @fzkenm I'm going with Forks by Matt's (@pattonme) intermediate fork package, and Norwest's shock rebuild. Forks by Matt can include both in his invoice to you if your interested in that.
  8. http://i.imgur.com/tXVZBbZ.jpg Fyi.. I plugged it with a regular tar stick and rubber cement plug kit. I am getting upgraded fork cartridges and rebuilt shock in the next few weeks so I will ride it as is and do the suspension and tires all at once. Not really worried about it. No track days in my future. I will just keep an eye on the tire pressure and ride it like normal.
  9. So the general consensus seems to be "err on the side of caution", ok, cool but that eats up play money vs. the alternative of just riding it out. Observed evidence for me is a plugged tire works just fine, anyone have first-hand experience of a plugged tire failing? I've ridden with plugged tires for thousands of miles without any problems when I was a broke college student... I certainly understand replacing the tire immediately to be safe though. I will be replacing mine because the center of the tire is to the wear bar already so I wouldn't get too much more out of the tires before having to replace anyway.
  10. Guess I will be ordering some new tires today... http://i.imgur.com/OmKwaKz.jpg Picked this up on the way home from work. I will plug it until the new tires come in.
  11. That sucks... my dealer let me keep the bike until the new CCT came in.
  12. For those of you that have done this mod.... what kind of flash did you guys go with? Im going to do this mod in the next few weeks, as well as, send off my ECU to vcyclenut. Not sure to keep with the stock fuel map or have it flashed like a slip on.
  13. I like the looks of this top case, but doesn't seem to be available to purchase from SHAD's website. http://shadusa.com/wp/sh58-cases @Piotrek I also have the sargent seat... I don't think it looks awkward at all (especially when you are sitting on it). Definite improvement over stock. I have the "grippier" Performance Plus cover on mine.
  14. Unfortunately... about 90% of my riding is commuting. I have a 2 year old and a wife that works too, so its had to find time to just joy ride. I commute on my bike because I love riding and if I don't commute on it, I don't get to ride it.
  15. Nice! Ive done mainly commuting with a few mountain trips thrown in there. I'm at 6000 miles and the very center of the stock rear tire is almost to the wear bar. I'm thinking I have about 1k miles before having to replace it so 13k is awesome!
  16. I had an excellent experience with Sargent Cycle Products North America. When I ordered my seat from them, I ordered the regular "World Performance" seat with the CarbonFX cover. When I got it I was pleased with the comfort and look, but when I rode in my textile pants, I found that it was too slick. I called up Sargent with the intentions of paying the difference to get the "Perfomance Plus" cover added (much more grippy) but the fellow I spoke with told me not to worry about it at all and replaced the cover free of charge (front and back). Turn around was a week. I was extremely impressed and will look to use their products in the future for sure.
  17. No. You have to remove the OEM hand guards. I posted some pictures here.
  18. @piotrek, this is the tape I used. Found it on Amazon... there are lots of colors and widths. I used 1/8 inch. It's easy to use and easy to peel off, and seems to withstand the weather pretty well.. the stripes I put on the faux carbon panels, have been there for 8 months through summer, rain, and now winter.
  19. @Piotrek, it's coming.. I'm going to use the Yamaha rack instead of the SHAD top case mount so I didn't order the whole set. Probably order it in the next month or two.
  20. They are Barkbuster Blizzards.. paired with the OEM heated grips they are great and look decent with the bike too. I've ridden in temperatures into the 20s (Farenheit) without a problem. http://i.imgur.com/8oYHvWG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OrrU8PS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/s7Dajh3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yxjMe1e.jpg
  21. I got a set of SHAD SH36s for Christmas... installed them and put some orange vinyl tap on them so they match the theme of the bike. Very impressed with the quality.. http://i.imgur.com/cH6V3Ey.jpg
  22. Ya know, I believe there must be some production variances between bikes. I have read posts on here of people claiming 6-8mph variance when compared to a GPS, while others (myself included) experience much more accurate results, 1-2 mph variance. I'm not really certain how or where the speed is detected on this bike, but there seems to be a large margin of error between bikes. The variance reported here was after changing the gearing so that is to be expected.
  23. @papac2000 when you ran the FJ on the dyno after your version 2 mod, was the ECU tuned at all, or was that running the stock ECU? Sorry if you already answered that, I've been reading through this thread and I'm sure I overlooked some details.
  24. @autobiker your FJR cases turned out really nice with the color match.
  25. I agree.. the SH39 matches the SH36s perfectly. Just worried I'm going for form over function so I wanted some input. I'm still leaning toward the SH39, I just don't think I need anything bigger.
