  1. Where did you get that pin striping for your side bags?
  2. I have the OES frame and axle sliders. I had a low speed dump whilst doing a u-turn last year. The frame sliders did their job, but you are correct sir, the hard case took the brunt of the rear damage. Nothing a little touch up paint didn't fix. I suggest going down with bike and let your leg absorb the damage, I've done that in the past with good results for the bike.
  3. I've posted this elsewhere already, but I've been commuting and running small errands around town on a Suzuki GZ250 this summer. It gets about 70-75 mpg. I like all bikes and this one is kind of fun to ride. You just can't be in a hurry (that's part of the charm) as there is no difference between half throttle and full throttle.
  4. It's also my daughters first bike. She doesn't take her Motorcycle Safety Class until July, so I've been driving it some in the meantime.
  5. I've been commuting a bit on a Suzuki GZ250. It gets about 75mph
  6. I was watching this youtube video and the gentleman used a $35 scanner and harness adapter to reset the codes on his MT09. If I ever get another check engine light I might try this next time. Plus you could reuse the scanner for your other bikes, snowmobiles, cars, etc..
  7. Thanks for all the great responses. Turns out it may have been a combo platter of a loosening positive terminal and failing battery. The positive terminal was loose but not totally disconnected. I normally torque the sh!t out of the bolts when installing the battery so who knows. The battery was also reading under 12v. I left it uncharged in the freezing garage this winter and that must have contributed to an early death. Anyway, I replaced the battery, tightened the bolts, and good to go. Except... The check engine wouldn't reset. I thought maybe after several cycles of riding it would reset. i ended up taking the bike to the dealer yesterday over the lunch hour. They hooked up their laptop to the diagnostic port and had to reset two codes (engine idling stop, O2 sensor). It took over an half hour to reset everything. I offered to pay them for their time but they passed. I thought that was pretty cool but I've spent a lot of money there over the years, so I guess it's all good. Anyway, all set now.
  8. Thanks for the great comments everyone. I'll check the battery tomorrow with my neighbors multi-meter, check over connections, terminals, so forth, and report back.
  9. Hi all, RE: 2019 Tracer GT So a few days ago, it felt like the bike was idling a little rough. Then at a steady speed, I thought I felt the bike surge a little bit at times. I just chalked it up to crazy things you sometimes think you are hearing or feeling from your bike. Then yesterday, on my way to work the dashboard began to flicker intermittently. It got a lot loss worse on the way home. At this time I also noticed the lights would flicker at the same time. Then at two stops, the bike started really fluctuating in idle and stalled twice. But again, it's intermittent, and most of the time would run and idle as expected. By the time I made it home, the check engine light came on. This is super disappointing as the bike has under 6,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new in 2018. 😞 Any suggestions where to start? I'm pretty marginally inclined mechanically, and even less so electrically.
  10. They must. I believe the 2019 - 2021 Tracer was unchanged during that time.
  11. I would love to have a modern day bike with the V4 motor. I've had in the past a Honda Magna V45, V65 and Yamaha Vmax. Probably putting about 100,000 miles between them. The Vmax in particular remains my favorite bike I've ever owned over the years. That motor just puts a sh!t eating grin on your face every time.
  12. I used their sizing chart based on rider height and it meets my needs perfectly. All the way up and in a mostly upright tilt, I'm looking about 3 inches over the screen. This provides incredible wind protection and the lack of wind noise (with a good helmet) is almost eerie. From there you can drop the windshield at least three more inches, plus you can tilt the windshield which in effect drops the top of the windshield even further. So really you can have it all. That said, I only use mine for longer rides and/or colder weather. Otherwise I use a Puig sport screen.
  13. It's not complicated. Hammer the throttle and quick shift. Pussy foot around town and use the clutch.
  14. I've ridden snowmobiles in -40F with windchill so there is no reason you couldn't ride a motorcycle in those temps as well. The problem is by the time you see those temps there is also three feet of snow and plenty of salt on the road. I ain't taking my new bike out in that. I do ride down into the 30's on occasion later in the season before the snow comes.
  15. I once flew into Tampa Bay and the representative at the car rental desk asked me if I was from Canada. No but I'm Northern MN Anyway, I feel like enough kindred spirit to contribute. I ride snowmobiles in the winter and motorcycles in the summer. This has been a great year so far for both. Typically there is a month or so between seasons but this year I went two weeks from a great last motorcycle ride to snow machining in two feet of snow. It's all good.
  16. You can get frame sliders for the Tracer from OES. I bought a full set of frame and axle sliders from them with no complaints. I think you can get a little better deal ordering them through their ebay store.
  17. Beautiful fall day here in Minnesota. In the land of 10,000 lakes most trips include a stop at some body of water. Took the opportunity to snap a picture of my two beauties.
  18. I went with the Yamaha MT-09 adventure pegs and love them. Plug and play.
  19. Fall is in the air here in northern Minnesota, so tonight I put on the big Madstad screen. Also gave the chain a good cleaning and installed an Evotech radiator guard. I was surprised how much damage the radiator has taken over a two year span. Nothing serious but it's taken some pretty good blows.
  20. With the shorts and flip flops and no helmet wouldn't you be more at home on a big litre sport bike? Love the t-shirt.
  21. I always acknowledge a wave. When I initiate a wave, I get about a 85% response rate. Kids on the side of the road get a honk.
  22. In my opinion, there is no one screen that will do it all. I use a Puig shorty screen for the summer and a Madstad touring screen for longer trips and colder weather. This is my first Madstad and it's by far the best touring screen I've ever used. Sport or short screens are just a matter of looks and what looks best to you.
  23. I've only been on one week long trip on my Tracer. This was a trip with all necessary camping and cooking supplies. I loaded it up with the side bags, 39L top case, and a large Tourmaster sissy bar bag that doubled as a back rest. I just kept it in power mode B and traction control 2 and drove it like I had a fully loaded bike. No issues.
